Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Lol and I heart quest
They had a booth set up at the PL/strongman/crossfit comp I went to this weekend. I saved a ton of money on quest bars by hitting the booth every time they changed shifts and saying "oh, I haven't tried this flavor". I got about 15 free bars.

Quest is very generous at those things. I can't wait for the new upcoming stuff

That's astounding. I had no idea that's what his lifts looked like. The lifts that surprised me were the squat (front and back) and strict/bench press.

That's crazy. And thank god they put it in lbs. I have no idea about the whole kg thing

Damn, you got to read the article before I did. Now I'm all sad. So we're looking at a 1940lb total at 231?

Damn, if he cut down to 220lb (easy) he'd be within 90lbs of the WR total, and he's not a powerlifter.

Also, you know that back squat PR is like a ass to heels squat, too. Imagine if he only went to parallel.

I think with the way he's been training for years, he probably wouldn't put on the brakes for his squats, just let 'em bounce. He's also pretty diced up at 231. With a 24hr weigh in, I'm sure 220 is possible, but I'm also thinking he misewell step on a bodybuilding stage the day of weigh ins @ 220.

I'm gonna derail this thread real quick because I'm a prick. Need some opinions.

$90. First lifting shoe for this guy, price point is where I want it. Sorry Sean, this is just one of the places where all the PL dudes hang out and slap asses.

Yeah, with a 24h weigh in he'd just have to cut carbs and water the week of weigh ins without any other diet alterations.

Those are sweet! What kind are they? I went with the Pendlay Do-Wins for $130. Wish I would've known about the $90 pair, though. They improved my O-lifting pulls immediately. Good for OHP, benching, and squatting, too.

Yeah, you're right. I'd imagine he can't really cut that hard with a two hour weigh in. That would be more along the lines of dieting as opposed to sucking weight.

The Adidas Powerlifts are nice. Know several people who have that black and blue pair and love them. You could probably find them cheaper than $90 as they just came out with the 2.0s (which are $90 now).

Cool. Thanks guys. I'm actually looking at the 2.0 version as it's supposed to have a sturdier heel. Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Does that mean somebody slaps my ass now?

How long have you had them?

May/June. They've helped me a lot. I tried squatting in chucks again and I literally fell backwards.

Eventually I'm buying the Addidas they're selling on EFS. Depending on your shoe size I can send ya my old ones lol They don't smell too bad..

Which Adidas? Power perfect II or the adipower ones?

hmm, prolly a size 9.

I've been wondering if my chucks have contributed to my Achilles problem. They're like 3 yrs old, but the only place I wear them is the gym...

I had my chucks for about 3 years, and they served me well. Not to deny what you said at all, napalm, just sharing a different experience.

I made the switch to olympic shoes back in June, and they've been great. Surprisingly, the thing they've been the best for is deadlifting.

That's funny, you guys all like them for pulling, I HATE them for pulling.
