Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Who's Herder?

Some say he was born in the wild, and didnt have human contact until he was 12. Others say he is a nomad who tends his flock quietly in the Swiss alps.

I believe thou that he is more than just a man; he is a legend

lol!!!!

He grew up with wild animals as a feral child. An elderly couple in Bumfuk, PA found him wearing a tie-dyed t-shirt and hiked up shorts, wondering in the woods carrying a tree over his head. Now they keep him in a shed filled with weight lifting equipment, Copenhagen, and Call of Duty.

Lmao. So that's the true story of herder

Lol! Ok. I know who you're talking about now.

Herderdude.....come say that thing you said about what I said that you said

I put 225-295 on the bar stand on a 1" mat, break the bar of the floor, and hold it for a 5 count just off of the floor then finish the rep explosively, usually for triples. You will find where you need to be, or you'll touch the floor again, which is a fail. You'll also learn how to get that core impossibly tight.

LMFAO. While we're all gaining info on my life story, we first have to know that even though I play a lot of COD, I am likely in the bottom 3% of all COD players online. I suck ballz at COD.

If I had a shed filled with Copenhagen...

Lol I gave that **** up. Too many 10 year olds talking **** and kicking my ass. Damn near broke my ps3 controller one time lol

When I play Halo online, 12 year old kids leave the forum because I'm too easy to kill.

I laugh, because I know I suck and I'll never be good. It's kind of like when I golf. One time I'll hit the ball 325, then my next drive won't make the ladies' tee. What am I gonna do, smash my driver because I suck?

Interdasting. I'll be giving this a try. I'm tired of doing it wrong and having a sore lower back the rest of the day. Most of my reps were ok in terms of feel, but I rushed that last one and paid for it.

Lol I hear ya. And I can't even go driving golf balls. My hands always get torn up, and I might hit one or two god ones out of a bucket of 100. But hey I always get a soft serve ice cream afterwards. And that heals all

Beautiful deads man! Just watching this would have saved me some time researching technique again today.

I may be pulling more, but I'm technically challenged and need to work on my form again. Old habits die hard.

2 cents...
Pretty strong pulls there IMO, form does not look bad to me really. As you hit near the knees, you just seem to smooth into the lockout by straightening up, (which may not be a bad thing) but maybe, you could try driving the hips forward more before the knees, or for lack of a better word (a bit more aggressive!?) May help with heavier loads and a bit more pop at top.

The strength is obviously there, you just need to work on the hip hinge movement more. Right now it looks more like you are squattting the weight up. That is why there is that hitch when going over your knees.

I would say this. I can't see the video on my phone. But a lot of guys with a big squat try and do the same movement for a dead when they are completely different in reality.

That's what I figured out too during my research yesterday. It's something I'd actually figured out in the past and had forgotten.

As a squatter, tell me leg drive and I try to get my hips low and drive the weight up that way. A little over a year ago I was doing deads with a higher starting hip position and more of the hip hinge you are talking about and things were much smoother, stronger, and WAY less painful. Gotta get back to practicing it that way again.

Form is still feeling slightly off without knee wraps but I know it'll be there with them on and I'll be twice as strong because of it. I ****ing hate the rack at work. Most unsafe thing ever.

Half hour long, late session. Said **** it and am going to bed. I'll be slightly more hamstring dominant on Thursdays deadlift day. Tony Gentilcore assessment is scheduled for Wednesday. Looking forward to it.

Nice squatting man.

Does your glute ever get tight? Mine is always tight before deads and squats. It's the mystery of the universe to me

Thanks bud. No knee wraps suck :(

Will make you stronger in the long run chief, looking back it did seem like you always wore them.

Yup. It's not as bad lately though. It's the side hip and flexors that are getting tight on me now. Sitting all day then lifting 20 minutes after being on a boat for a few hours doesn't help either.

See if Rob will help you stretch your glutes out...

^Said in the most homo way possible

Any working set above 420 I most likely had them on since...forever. The 5 sets is good for me. No way I'm gonna wrap 5x over and over except for the 5x1 week.

I wrap after 405 since my knee injury in July. I use my Metal Silvers for lighter sets and switch to my Inzer Grippers once I get above 5 plates.

Try some knee sleeves, man. I think it's helped me maintain some confidence and tightness going wrapless. It's a lot harder to push my knees out without wraps (have to make a conscious effort to do so) so I look forward to having them on me again.

I need new wraps soon. Lookin at those Inzers or Strangulators

I have some Titan's that I'm waiting to get later this week. Those Inzer's that I use are amazing. Stretchy and seem to get tighter as you stand up. They're a nice mix of casting and rebound.

Training partner who got those was pretty disappointed in them.

Awesome squating.

I haven't been touching my wraps for minute too(not that I used them a lot) like you and NomZ...and Coan in training haha.

I haven't had any problems but maybe look into sleeves as preventative down the road. Aren't most just neoprene sleeves?

Mine are a thick stretchy cloth material. The briefs are neoprene. Titan and Rheband supposedly make good neoprene ones

I intend on wrapping here on out to maintain the groove until my meet. Less than a month out.

Good squatting Sean.

Also, I love my rehband sleeves. They keep my knees nice and warm, I usually put them on as soon as I start squatting and don't take them off for the rest of my sessions.

Solid looking squats, Sean.

Which ones?

The Titan neoprene knee sleeves; wore them for a bit and then immediately went back to the EFS heavies.

EFS' quality has gotten so bad that I refuse to buy any equipment from them. 5 years ago, their stuff was good, but I've had so many bands and wraps fall apart within 3 months of purchase that I can't justify the risk anymore.

Bought my knee sleeves last year and they're in great conditiion. I'll admit I haven't purchased anything from them since.
