Recovery - the FinalFlex way

I am debating trying 2/3 of a scoop... or just running .5 till it doesnt produce the same results. I am impressed thus far, as I have had 2 solid sleeps in a row.

I'd keep on the half dose like Edje suggested. Make sure you take the two recommended days or as well. A tolerance can be built and just like stims is good practice to cycle off. But unlike stims the period time of doesn't have to be as long.

I've only gone a full scoop once. Unless you're prepared to sleep in, I wouldn't go past 1/2 scoop either. You can definitely lose some time with G8.

Bingo! I tried 2/3 Friday, because I didn't have to get up Saturday. 1/2 is a good amount for sure, I knew 1 scoop would be overkill, so 2/3 seemed like a compromise :) This is an interesting sleep supp, as it is the first time I've tried anything that just simply knocked me out like this - no tossing, waking, dreaming for that matter.

I'll probably stick to 1/2 from here on out - the effect didn't seem like it would be a cost effective use of extra product.

I've always tinkered a little with dosing sleep supps, finding one in particular I only need to take 3 out of 4 caps, making the bottle last a lot longer, so if 1/2 works best for me, even better -

^^ exactly what I am screaming gentlemen
love it when I wake up, and the bed (which I make daily of course) is untouched except for where I have been
pull the sheets up, good to go ;)

Make your bed every day?

Pshhhhhh I'm the master of waking up 9 minutes before class starts and speeding down I-35 to get there. Ain't nobody got time for bed making

So just caught myself this morning – noticed I hadn’t posted my workouts since deload.

On paper, hit 1000lbs total. My original goal of all 3 over 300 is continuing at a steady pace as well, just might get my bench up over this year still. Didn’t get any videos – I’ve been listening to a lot of Joe Rogan podcasts lately thru my phone.

On bench, I’ve been really trying to get my legs working with me & not raising my butt up. Getting my legs back under & being on my toes seems to have helped – I was thinking I needed to keep feet flat on the floor.

Squat – starting to adjust a bit to low-bar. Felt pretty unnatural at first. This week I think I started getting the groove of it – more stable, less feeling like my arms are holding the bar up. Really felt a difference in the bottom. Other than a weird feeling in my right knee on the last rep, the rest of me felt like I had a few more reps in me.

Managed to get ahead of schedule. I had planned to be backpacking last weekend, so I set up my training schedule with that in mind. Those plans were called off & I couldn’t resist hitting the weights over the weekend.

New Maxes – 170 OHP, 415 DL, 275 Bench, 310 Squat

Slept like a baby the last couple nights – ½ scoop G8 with a scoop of BCAA/SAA works like a charm. I actually just throw the scoops in a cup, put water from the faucet in, just swish the cup (no actually stirring) & it mixed up pretty friggin good! The two apple flavors seem to complement each other (as I type this, sipping on a scoop of BCAA/SAA at work).

Flavor aside, let’s talk recovery – basically, I’ve been keeping a full schedule, lifting & training for Russia – extra cardio, mobility work, & prop/performance practice. I’m feeling great. Even catching a bit of fat loss. Just over 3 weeks out. Everything seems to be keeping up to task & a-ok! Grip is a bit weak in DL, but it’s getting hit pretty hard almost every day– weighted chins, DL & HLR, Kroc Rows, & practice.

DLs were ok but could’ve been better. I felt kinda rushed (for really no good reason). In turn, I kept coming over my toes. Actually took a step forward one rep. So wasn’t really in the groove at all & 340 just felt heavy, especially in my hands/fingers.

Made up for it today - Had an awesome bench session – worked on setting the arch, getting leg drive without butt lift – nailed 225x7: butt lifted just a touch on the last rep – huge improvement, I think. I gotta get a vid next week for sure.

2.5 hour performance tonight, only about an hour of fire. Plenty of practice & extra cardio! We are entertaining the incoming freshman for the university – should be an amusing evening. Hopefully I have time to get a bit of yoga or something before to loosen up.

Solid work man, very nice.

Thanks man! I'm really pleased with my progression with this program. I've never made strength gains like now. Heck a decently progressing recomp as well. Just noticed today I've been coming in 2 lbs heavier on average this month... that's a first in a looong time... plus more abs showing- getting close ...

My wife's reading the book now, getting ready to start it.

That's exactly how I am man. It's good stuff.

Eh... sub par squat day ... wife popped into the room unexpectedly on my way down into the 3rd rep. Caught me by surprise, I got out of sorts, hips shot and I totally GM'ed the weight up. I had to rack it at 3, said bye to the wife, and then immediately went for another set of 3 to make up for it - not counting the extra reps but I can't say I legitimately stalled either. That was some crap... I was having trouble getting in the zone from lack of sleep and then that topped it off. Rest and food today, along with some house work, then getting the canoe out tomorrow, so maybe a rest weekend.

Squat – 200x3, 225x3, 235x3 x2

Superset 5x10
Leg Curl - 100lbs
Squat 50% - 140lbs

Low - ceiling pro tip: duck when necessary ...

Loading weights on the bar, I backed up too far and cracked the back of my skull on the furnace return duct. Managed to draw blood even... Cleaned up and had a great OHP session, last set 150x3 went up relatively easy.

is that why all the forests are burning? lol jk looks pretty kick ass man. nice work, and not to count out the photographer either. thanks for sharing.

and this is why you need a real workout area - gym or something
I don't know how you can maneuver in that lil box of a closet

You'll be feeling that tomorrow... hope you are ok bro.

Its not too bad, except for no standing overhead work, but yeah, once in a while that duct will sneak up on me... Hehe - keeps me humble...

Thanks! And yes - Most definitely had some good photographers. Just under 3 weeks out now -

Solid pulls this morning - 5/3/1 DL day - hit 3 on my last set. Felt strong. 3 seems to be my number on the 1+AMRAP sets. I forgot my numbers, so I'll update that tonight.

I love the weekend when I can kick back with some G8 & get some good solid, uninterrupted rest - I've been turning in early the last couple Fridays just to max out that G8 sleep -

BCAA/SAA - this product has really held its own. I've had a number of BCAA products, but this is one of, if not the, top. Taste is great, as is mixability. I have noticed improved endurance when taken pre/intra, without any reduction in any other aspect. Certain BCAA products, while seemingly helping with endurance, sort of made me feel in some ways, not sure if it's quite the right word, but, weaker. This product doesn't fill or bloat, but satisfies. When taken with G8 at night, I wake up feeling fuller - might only be mental, but I'll take it.

Great feed back. Looking good in here!

Squats this morning - 5/3/1 week - managed to get a triple @265 on my last set. Continuing to move up! I keep forgetting my log book, so numbers are still to come... Once I break my podcast addiction again (damn you joe rogan experience!), I'll get some new vids.

Really loving the added recovery I've been getting lately. Practiced until almost 11pm last night, kicked back a 1/2 scoop of G8 & 1 scoop BCAA/SAA - was ready to go when my alarm went off. However, I'm seeing the BCAA/SAA tub getting lower & lower - gotta get another tub for my stash - perhaps in a different flavor.... So I also have another brand's blueberry BCAA flavor at home: mixed up that with a 1/2 scoop of G8 the night before last - the taste was quite excellent! G8's flavor is decent, not bashing it at all. Nor do I really care too much, but when I took my first sip of the mixture I was blown away.

Heading out of town canoeing for the holiday weekend. I killed my 5/3/1 week & now back to deload. I think this time I'm going to approach a bit different. Going to hit yoga the next couple days, add in as much performance practice as I can muster. Where we go canoeing is private land up against the river in southern KY. The group can be as big as 120 people paddling at once... Big ass party. So of course I'll get a chance for some legit fire practice in front of a new audience.

As of Sunday, I'll have 2 weeks til I jump on the plane. I'm thinking I'll just hit the next cycle, do weeks 1 & 2, then repeat weeks 1 & 2 when I get home again, as I'll be gone from the weights for 10 days, unless there's a gym nearby in Perm I can use. It'll be much more focused on my routines & making sure everything's polished -

Very nice update Liz.

I would recommend the blue raspberry flavor if you wanted to try something other then Apple. It's also off the hook.

You read my mind-going on my next NP order

Back from canoeing, dried out and cleaned up...

while on the river, this happened. A woman asked for help pulling a cork out of a wine bottle. Obviously not knowing my own strength, I managed to rip the neck of the bottle off with the cork, hence cutting the meat between finger and thumb, making a bloody mess.

Between butterfly closures and bracing the thumb to keep it shut, looks to be healing OK. Just going to keep me away from gripping the bar a couple days.

Half scoop G8 and full scoop BCAA/SAA last night. I love the sleep I get with this combo.

We had an enormous storm come thru the night before while camping and 5 tents were destroyed. We were OK for the most part, just really crappy sleep so the extra recovery was great -

So I hadn't tried finaflex until this log - now see what they got me into... NP dropped off some goodies. Now just waiting for this hand to heal so I can use em.

Trying to not get too down on myself. no lifting (trying legs tomorrow). I can still practice certain props, just a bummer but at least I've got a little under 2 weeks til we fly - healing thoughts ....

That's a good looking thing right there my friend :)

Gotta get back to it before I go stir crazy - trying squats today. As long as I don't squeeze the bar too hard, should be OK. what a sh!try spot to slice up. Just heal up by next week....

Yesterday’s Squats –
185x5, 210x5, 240x7 (+2)

Superset 5x10
Leg Curl - 100lbs
Squat 50% - 140lbs

OHP this morning –
100x5, 115x5, 130x8 (+3)

Superset 5x10
Chins – 30lbs
OHP 50% - 80lbs

that cut is in a really annoying spot (right in between finger & thumb), but with some decent gloves & a bit extra padding via gauze, I was able to lift today – no pain or bleeding, looks like its healing up & finally closing. I was a bit distraught last weekend, but hoping everything proceeds & I’m healed up by next weekend. That being said – I’m most likely breaking the straps out for deadlifts this weekend to help keep at least some strain down – it’s healing, but I’m not out of the woods just yet.

Since I’m just over 1 week out & forced to take some days off, I didn’t feel confident about bumping up into the next round of 5-3-1 yet. So currently going thru last cycle’s 5s week, then I’ll hit next cycle’s 5s. Then when I get back, just restart the new 5s week & go on from there. Helping out my confidence, I’ve hit extra reps compared to my first time thru.

Recovery – I definitely feel the combo of G8 & BCAA/SAA has aided me immensely. I really enjoy combining the 2. Deep restful sleep & waking up feeling solid & ready to rock. I definitely think the first few doses of G8 can be misleading – I would wake up feeling noticeably slowed. Now I find myself waking up refreshed.

Down to my last scoop of BCAA/SAA – sad panda…. This stuff is on my list for sure. I’ve been a faithful RecoverPro consumer, mostly for price. BCAA/SAA mixes better & seems to aid my recovery better. Recover I couldn’t drink close to bedtime, as it would keep me awake for some reason – not speedy, just not sleeping either.

Got back in the groove over the weekend. That cut has been healing nicely as well. I was able to use liquid skin on it Saturday night & it held up great. No issues benching either, surprisingly. Was definitely feeling worn after bench yesterday. Took ½ scoop of G8 last night – slept so hard… It was glorious.

DL – 245x5, 285x5, 320x7 (+2)

Superset
Hanging Leg Raises – 5x15
DL 50% - 190lbs

Bench – 165x5, 190x5, 215x8 (+3)

Bench 50% - 125lbs

One last week until I fly… There’s still the unfinished business of getting our visas back in time…

Ran out of BCAA/SAA officially…. I can definitely tell a difference in my recovery since ceasing its use. Increased rest times between sets (slightly, not extravagantly), more DOMS. I miss that stuff – it is a great product. Exceeded my expectations.

This weekend I board the plane & go! I’m so excited – my mind has been all over the place… I’ve never dined in a “Palace” before….

So you guys who may be still following – catch ya on the flipside! When I get back, I’ll probably restart my previous 5-3-1 log – I’m pondering where I’m going to go next, as I’ve been BBB for a minute & think I might like a change. I’ve also got some goodies waiting in my supp stash – max pump, stimul8, creatrona, anabeta – should be a fun ride into fall & help fend off the post travel blues 

Huge thanks to IParatroop, Snags, & the rest of the bunch over at FinaFlex! (see…I finally caught my spelling error in my thread title…lol)

My last week before I go is wrapping up, visas in hand, bags are getting packed, final performance notes are being made. Sunday I set off for the opposite side of the globe!

I can’t thank these guys enough for giving me an awesome boost of recovery leading up to this event. This is a stack I will gladly run again! Tastes great, puts me to sleep like a friggin baby, waking up like a millions bucks – what more could you ask for! In order to keep my schedule on track, I had to drop out a few rest days here & there – this was no problem, as my recovery kept pace with my training with ease. I recommend these products to anyone, any sport, looking to add a little magic to their recovery.

G8 on a scale of 1-5
1) This product helped me fall asleep...
2) This product provided deep restful sleep...
3) This product enhanced my recovery...
4) This product helped me relax...
5) I really enjoyed this product and would recommend it to friends and family...

1) 5 - Definitely aided in putting me to sleep fast. 20 minutes or so after taking, a relaxing wave would be the first sign, then out like a light.
2) 4 – Very deep sleep. In fact, the only reason I can’t go 5 on it, is that some occasions it was too deep of a sleep & I would have some trouble waking. It was only in the last few days of use that I could even slightly recollect that I did have any dreams at all (while still remembering nothing as far as dream details)
3) 4 – Most definitely helped recovery. I felt the best recovery effects when I would dose G8 & BCAA/SAA at the same time before bed. Even solo, it helped me keep a grueling schedule with minimum DOMS
4) 5 – Like I said previously, drink it & a relaxing wave would come over me a few minutes after. I had been dealing with a quite a bit of stress & G8 seemed to help me break the habit & allow myself to relax & sleep.
5) 5 – Most definitely will recommend to anyone interested in a sleep supp. It’s a solid product that lives up to the hype

BCAA+SAA on a scale of 1-5
1) This product enhanced my recovery...
2) This product helped me power through my training sessions...
3) This product kept me hydrated...
4) This product tasted great...
5) I really enjoyed this product and would recommend it to friends and family...

1) 5 – Recovery has been way lower since ceasing use. I was able to keep a tight schedule & still make gains in the weight room. DOMS was noticeable reduced while taking it. Combining BCAA/SAA & G8 before bed is a match made in heaven, as far as recovery is concerned.
2) 4 – Yes & no. I’ve never experienced too much of anything notable taking it (or any other BCAA) intraworkout. Most would actually make me feel a little slower. However, this did not – It would help level me out a bit towards the end of a session, but I greatly preferred taking it pre-bed with G8. Post workout it was a great as well. Many sessions will leave me crawling up the stairs & fairly nauseous, making me normal protein shake rather hard to get down. BCAA/SAA helped add a bit of recovery into my rehydration.
3) 4 – As previously stated, many sessions will leave me crawling up the stairs & fairly nauseous, making me normal protein shake rather hard to get down. BCAA/SAA helped add a bit of recovery into my rehydration.
4) 5 – Apple flavor is top notch in the world of BCAA/SAA. I will be trying to other flavors they have to offer as well
5) 5 - For sure – this is the best BCAA product I’ve tried to date. I’ve noticed much more DOMs & everything seems a bit tougher this week, compared to last week with BCAA/SAA

That is an awesome review, and I am having pretty much the same experience.

Have a great trip! How long are you gone for.... be safe..

Very solid review and log brother! I appreciate the time you spent doin work!

Thanks guys! These are a couple of great products & I definitely see more in my future!!!

We're gone for 10days - I think 3 of them are in the air... It's a 10hour time change. So we'll leave Sunday & arrive Tuesday, but flying home we leave Wednesday morning & get home Wednesday afternoon... Definitely not looking forward to the jet lag.

I've been wondering how much hassle it would be to take some G8 to fly with! :)
