Jim: Performance is King Log.

Yeah, Alex would rip me a new one if he saw that **** I'm sure.

But I would definitely be strong as ****.

Who do you think it was that reamed me on it?

The best training partners are the ones who challenge you daily and he is by far the most challenging guy out there I've trained with over the years. I've gotten two compliments from him, but the dude knows how to freaking lift heavy ass weight.

That's who I assumed it was.

He certainly seems like he knows what he's doing lol.

I can't really question the guy: he holds (or would hold if the APF didn't **** him) a WR, but I still deadlift more than him.

I can't question him because I am small, and hold no records.

And am only strong enough to look cool in the gym.

Half scoop g8 last night, finally fell asleep around 2, woke up at 810. Was feeling foggy and tired when I first woke up but felt fine once I started moving around.

Ran some errands and then went to do sprints again at 1015 or so.

1 scoop BCAA/SAA mixed with 25oz water, still a little on the strong side for my taste. Didn't end up finishing it, and will drink the rest with my G8 tonight.

Anyway:

Dynamic warmup

Hill Sprint
-5 dead sprint
-2 pushup ground start
-2 kneeling ground start

Wasn't tight or sore or anything today, which is surprising considering the workout yesterday.

Felt fast, and I like being fast.

ME Upper: Aug 14.

Pretty good session overall, went in with a goal for a triple and ended up exceeding it. Everything felt good today, a little bit of RC weakness during lateral raises, but I think it was just the way I was doing them. Lats had a few knots in them today, but they didn't take long to roll out and all my joints are feeling pretty good.

Pre: 4 caps Max Pump, 1.5 Scoop Jack3d Micro (1 BR + .5 LL), 1 Scoop Green Magnitude
Intra: 1 Scoop BCAA/SAA

Warm-up: Simple 6, Band Dislocations, Band No Monies, External Rotations work up to 205 x 3 Bench Press

Work: 225 x 3, 235 x 3

225 for 3 was actually a PR for a triple, and then obviously 235 was as well.

Neutral Grip DB OHP (1 arm at a time): 50 x 8 x 2, 55 x 7

a1. Pendlay Row: 185 x 5 x 4
a2. Low Pulley Face Pull: 120 x 10, 110 x 12 x 3 (

Dat Trap and Upper Back PUMP. O.o

b1. Rolling Tri Extension (against MM band): 20 x 8, 30 x 8 (just weight on bar, I have not a clue how much the bar is itself) Note: Hold against band at lockout for 1-2 seconds
b2. Lateral Raise: 30 x 6 x 2

Overall, it went well. This was my first time using the 1 Arm OHP as an assistance movement on a ME day, and I enjoyed it. The neutral grip was a bit awkward at first but it went well enough. The last rep of 55 was a bear with both arms, so that is good to see the left catching up.

Feeling pretty large today, planned to weigh in after training but I forgot. My "I'm Bigger" shirt fits a little snug now (it is an XL) so I can't say that I'm unhappy about that. Feeling good about the bench pressing right now, hopefully I'm well on my way to a 300 but only time will tell on that.

Good work man, keep pushing it and those bench numbers will climb.

TheSaiyan , I believe you but I strongly believe that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and right now I'm making good progress. Although, it is something I will probably consider a little farther down the line if I need more progress.

RE Lower today, my younger brother came with us today and he hasn't done legs since he played HS football; about 3-4 years ago.

Had to teach him how to squat, which he finally found a relatively comfortable way to do (by the final set) but it definitely took some time in the gym today. Taught him how to squat, got him decently comfortably doing GMs (but he still needs practice obviously), and how to hold the bar for the Front Squat.

He wasn't using a lot of weight today, but with time I'm sure he'll do alright.

Anyway....

RE Lower

Pre: 1 Scoop Green Magnitude, 3 caps Uncut, 4 caps Max Pump
Intra: 1 Scoop BCAA/SAA

Warm-up: Agile 8, Shoulder Over and Backs, Dislocates
Back Squat: work to 275 x 3

Work: 275 x 6, 315 x 6 x 2 (weights actually felt heavy today, took a little bit of practice to figure out my foot placement with the oly shoes for a back squat)
1st set at 315: Invalid Link Removed

The second set actually went smoother, and felt better, than that set.

Front Squat Hold: 405 x 18 seconds, 495 x 4 seconds (495 was awful, I could tell right from the pickup that it wasn't gonna last long)

Good Morning: 225 x 5 x 2, 235 x 5, 245 x 5, 275 x 5 (PR? I think so, although I'm not sure. If not, it's gotta be fairly close)

Box Step Ups (about hip height?, didn't get the dimensions. Although, I think they were written on the box): 60 x 12 x 3 (30 per hand)

And done, got a good amount of work done, feeling tired.

Weighed in today at the end of the workout at 179, so now I just have to maintain this weight for 2 months LOL. Strength is up, even though I'm weighing less now than I did at the meet.

I don't plan to fight that kind of thing. :biglaugh:

Gonna flip some tires, run some sprints, and do some farmer's carries tomorrow. I expect that I will be fairly sore tomorrow, but we shall see.

Feeling good right now so we'll see what happens tomorrow!

Keep hittin it Jim. How old are you, 22? I remember 21-23 being my strongest natty years period, reppin 225 on bench like it owed me money. Just keep hitting it hard, eat well, and train like you love it. Now that you you're EAS'd you don't have to worry about stupid company or unit or battalion or whatever PT getting in the way of your gains

Da gainz. And not even, hell I don't even turn 21 for a few months.
Good liftin dude.

315 looked good Jim, keep up the good work ...

Thanks guys, feeling good with the progress I'm making right now.

405 and 495 for holds?!?!? Like holding at the bottom? Damn dude impressive,

I think he means like a walkout, but obviously just standing and holding instead.

Lol still longer than I could hold a front squat probably. I got them baby shoulders so the bar always wants to move on me

Today's update:

Headed to the gym and it was just starting to rain, went out back to the tires (and saw a bunch of stone blocks for block presses, and Atlas stones)

Anyway, no preworkout today or BCAA/SAA intra.

Tire Flip: x 8 flips x 2 (fast, got the heart rate up, may use the bigger tire next time)

Rain really started coming down then.

50M Sprint x 4

Soaked, and done.

Wanted to do more but the wife was ready to go so we left.

Went in today to make up the workout that I missed yesterday (the gym closes at 6, I was not aware until I started getting ready to leave at 5:20...)

So I did my RE Upper today.

Pre: 1.25 Scoop Jack3d Micro, 4 Caps Max Pump, 1 Scoop Green Magnitude
Intra: 1/2 Scoop BCAA/SAA

Warm-up: Simple 6, Ext. Rotation with Band, Pull aparts, Bench Press: work up to 185

Work: 205 x 6 x 2, 215 x 6

Neutral Grip DB Bench: 60 x 10, 70 x 10

a1. Neutral Grip Pull-up: BW x 6 x 3
a2. High Pulley Face Pull: 80 x 10, 100 x 10, 120 x 10

Dat back/bicep pump!

Military Press: 135 x 5 x 2

Cross Body Hammer Curl: 20 x 20 (per arm, prehab stuff)

Squatting tomorrow, probably for 3. So I didn't do too much volume with the upper back, so that it isn't an issue tomrrow (or as little of an issue as possible)

Good looking session.

I'm glad I started doing DeFrancos Simple 6. I needed something slightly more structured other than just goin in and doing random ****

Dinner:

Invalid Link Removed

Cut up some chicken I grilled the other day, tossed it in a salad with three cheese vinaigrette and ate it with the rest of my left over spaghetti.

ME Lower today.

Warm up: Agile 8, Shoulder Over and Back/Dislocate

Pre: 3 Uncut, 4 Max Pump, 1 Scoop Green Magnitude
Intra: BCAA/SAA

Work up to 315 x 3

Work sets: 365 x 3, 385 x 2 (failed 3rd), 385 x 2 (hit 3rd but it was shallow)

Videos in a few.

Note: Gonna start alternating wide stance (with vibrams) and close(er) stance with Oly Shoes.

Talk to some PLers, fix wife's form, continue working on brothers squat form (who says he actually ended up being sore all weekend)

Conv. Deads: 315 x 5 x 2
Talk to PLer, settle out training idealogy, get solid advice

Cont. 315 x 5

a1. Hypers: BWx 10, +25 x 10
a2. Lunges: BW x 16 x 2

Leave.

Had some more stuff planned, but between the warmup and all of the coaching I was at the gym for a good 3 hours. Which is much too long for my tastes (2 is about my limit, 30 min warmup/1.5hr workout) Got some good info today, squats are feeling decently strong, and my sticking point is painfully apparent in the videos.

Gonna implement a little more conjugate rotation from this point forward (to try to push mine and my wifes squats a little farther) and to cut down on some of the CNS strain of alternating ME Squat/DL every week.

I used to (which some may notice from the log) but since the last meet I've been focusing on linear progression with the Squat/Bench/DL and it's slower than hitting a solid rotation of moves that will all help me be better.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Heavy lifts, bud. How did they feel?

I like how your spotter didnt even budge when you dropped lol

Lol they felt hard, my squats are a little weaker with the closer stance but it's getting there.

I normally don't even have one, but my brother stood behind me for whatever reason. I'm honestly glad he didn't because if he woulda jumped the gun on the 2nd I woulda been upset.

Nice progress, sir. Looking good.

Edit: I don't think your 3rd (last vid) was all that shallow honestly. You get crazy depth on your others so it probably feels that way.

Chest up out of the hole!!

I paused it and it looked like a red light. :sigh:

I have issues with that at maximal weights, any tips besides just consciously doing it?

Just gotta do it. If something physically is preventing you, then identify that. Normally with ME, if I think I'm too deep...then I'm actually just deep enough.

Just have somebody tell you "chest up, head back" repeatedly. Usually one works better than the other. Sometimes the Louie Simmons "ArchArchArchArchArch!" works, too.

Yesterday's update:

Conditioning-

Pre: 4 Caps Max Pump
Intra: 1 Scoop BCAA/SAA

Warm-up: Limber 11

6 x Hill Sprints
2 x Down Hill Sprints

Felt good, was running fast and pouring off sweat. Nothing special, but got my legs feeling good for today and got my heart rate up.

ME Upper:

Pre: 4 Caps Max Pump, 1 Scoop Green Magnitude, 1.5 Scoop Jack3d Micro

Intra: BCAA/SAA (I'm really enjoying this stuff thus far, I feel like I'm recovering very well at this point.)

Warm-Up: Simple 6, Band work for the RC

Work up to 205 x 2

Work sets: Bench Press: 225 x 2, 245 x 1 (failed on second)

Dips: +45 x 8 x 2, BW x 8 (tendinitis flare up today, really messed with my dips)

a1. Kroc Row: 80 x 12 x 3
a2. Cable Pull Apart: 20 x 10 x 3

b1. DB French Press: 60 x 8, 70 x 6
b2. Lateral Raise: 25 x 8 x 2

Poundstone Curl: Bar x 35 (Holy christ I'm a little girl, these hurt a lot! P.S. not tendinitis pain, the pump)

Felt good, wanted 245 x 2 but it wasn't gonna happen today. Meh, not worried about it. Everything went pretty well, not feeling any worse for the wear right now. Actually feeling really good, no aches or pains right now. We'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow DLing for Reps.... :shudder:

Poundstone curls are definitely really hard! I could only imagine what the rest of the people in the gym think when we do them.

RE Lower day, how I despise thee.....

Aug 22.

Pre: 1.5 Scoop Jack3d Micro, 4 Caps Max Pump, 1 Scoop Green Magnitude
Intra: BCAA/SAA

Warm-up: Limber 11, Simple 6 Con. Deadlift work up to 315 x 3

Work: 335 x 8 x 2

Good Mornings: 225 x 6, 245 x 6, 265 x 6

a1. Landmine Barbell Twist: 20 x 6, 20 x 8 (per side)
a2. Front Foot Elevated Split Squat: 60 x 8 x 2 (per leg)
a3. Standing Cable Crunch: 70 x 10, 80 x 10

And done. The Deadlifts were BRUTAL, and I got both sets on video. Some were good, some were ugly. But, I think they are all white lights

Upper back was TIGHT today, from the work yesterday. Feeling good, hammies and glutes are DONE. And I really felt them on my sets of DL, no issues with lower back cramping (I rarely, if ever, have this kind of issue). So I'm feeling good.

Bout to eat some spaghetti and meatballs (pictures come later, they're on the phone) and the videos are uploading so those will get posted in a little bit.

Can't wait to see those pics of your skinny noodle and meatballs...
