Absolutely. I forget who said it (wendler or lilly IIRC) but they said strongmen rep what PLs consider heavy/max weight.

poundstone has a pretty impressive pull, but he does weight like 350 lol. I can't imagine weighing that much. I know a few guys through a friend who are strongmen and they all have great PL #s as well. I'd love to strongman but I would be one of the smallest. Locally we just have a above/bellow 220 class.

Yeah, those guys are massive, but Kalle Beck has a 600lb pull at 175#. The weight classes in strongman are 175, 200, 231, 265, and super (or 450, it seems. I'm excited to see what Shaw and Bjornsen weigh this year. Bjornsen is gonna weigh 475 by the time he's full grown)

I have a 550 at 181... unoffical haha.

Around here the closest strongman stuff I have found is a ways away. They are both massive, I know shaw was huge last time I saw him in WSM. Bjornsen is just freaking unreal.

You can strap up in strongman deadlifts, too! Of course, grip is far more in demand in strongman.

Ridiculous! That's why these guys are good. They have to do stuff for speed, for reps, for time, for distance, AND for max.

I love all the videos he has been putting out. Chad said he thinks he is top 3 trainers right now.

Today I hit a Press PR. Showing the brother how it's done on the hang clean to press. ;-)

He's going to be a small linebacker at 5'10" 205, but his strength numbers are all going to be (as rated by the strength coach) above average for his position. Bench 225 rep test he got 12 and above average is 14. He'll get that. Clean and press the standard is 215, he got 225 today. Hang clean it's 240, and he JUUST missed it today. We'd have worked on his speed, but he broke his fibula in an all-star game six weeks ago.

Can't wait to see him take the field for his first season of college football this fall. I LOVE me some college football (I'm kind of an expert).

230x0 Took a step. That was the first time I've been mad about missing a lift that I can remember. I had it, and then I lost it.

Then I wanted to see how light I can touch in my shirt with it pulled up high (easy touch, less carryover) pulled down low, and pulled down low with the sleeves bunched (hardest touch, most carryover).

Turns out I can touch 135 with my shirt fully jacked. Now that's loose. I'm going to get in touch with master seamstress for the powerlifting stars, Ginny Phillips, and see what she can do. I'm basically going to have to tell her "Here's the shirt size, here are my measurements, I can touch 135, I can't twist my sleeves, and I can pinch extra fabric in the sleeves." And let her go from there. I have NO IDEA how to tune my shirt, and some of these bench shirt guys are like hot rod mechanics.

Should make for a big bench when I get it right, though!
 
Here's that there press. 225 was slow but smooth, this one I lost my balance right at lockout, and after the weight went down, I had to step to correct it. Piss-off

Nice. I have no clue what I could push press since only strict OHP but 225 is good. I know I could clean 245 ~ 3 months ago no practice. 225 clean and press is solid for sure.

Well I actually didn't bend my knees on that one (EDIT: YES YOU DID HERDER YOU DOUCHE), I just laid it back. I know, I know, you shouldn't lay it back, but I was PRing, sue me. I can hit 185x6 upright. I have push pressed 245 and I've push pressed a 275# log.

That's the thing that worked out with my brother. He just set a 20lb hang clean PR and he hasn't done a hang clean in MONTHS. He just got stronger. When he hones his technique, as I'm sure the football coaches will make him do more hang cleans than he'll ever need, he'll be out-cleaning me.
 
Shoot, if I had known I bent my knees at the start, I would have dropped it like it's hot. Gotta squeeze those glutes. Now I'm really mad I didn't tape 225. I know I squeezed my glutes and I pressed it with no layback until I hit the sticking point.
 
No harm done, form was tight enough for me. No doubt he will be a hang clean stud. I was hitting 225x7 back in HS just because they had us doing them so much.

Still a solid press man.

Thanks. My form was about as tight as Alexeev's record 507 press, but not nearly as good as Serge Redding's 502.
 
Well you told me push press anyways so I was ready to see you with some major knee bend. That was even more impressive. Your body kind just jerked, there wasn't any real knee bend or anything. Like some confounded new dance move the kids are doing these days...

Yeah, it starts 8 pacific. I was trying to do the australian to eastern time conversion this week and it just screwed me up so bad that I couldn't math right.

Here's why I like your idea better than mine:

1.) More carryover.
2.) Get the family involved.
3.) Your wife is sleeping, and you want to wake her up to do something very stupid like put a bench shirt on to watch the computer.
 
Finally underway. Unreal how nobody in the know, knew when, who, what site, or how to watch this. This might be why powerlifting is a fringe sport.

What a meet. Lilly goes 843/578/815 for a 2237 total, Lilliebridge gets a 2200 total, and Richard Hawthorne gets a WR squat of 562, a 600lb deadlift, and a 1471 total at ~130lbs. Obviously among many other things. Two 881 deadlifts back-to-back, for one. Two 900lb deadlifts above the knees. So many things.

I think the guy who took 365 for a ride was an ozzie, bud! Unfortunately, Sarychev wasn't in top form, because he's hit 315 with no supportive equipment before in other meets.

Oh yeah. Lots of highlights. Ant had two third attempt grinders that were outrageous. Benni sandbagged hard (squat 660, bench 330), and Malan didn't compete, but overall it was still an awesome meet.
