THANK YOU! i dont get into crossfit but i dont bash it either bc i know i dont know enough about it. this article seems to be written by a powerlifter or weightlifter . bashing anything and everything that isnt bench deads and squats. my interpretation was that basically the only exercises worth doing are compound bb exercises. this is far from true. BASING a chest day around the bench is one thing BUT IF I DIDNT DO ANY accssory work then how much stronger am i really gonna get?, another example. tricep pushdowns.. no i wont necessarily go up in weight every week but my triceps WILL get bigger with time and a big muscle is a strong muscle so, wouldnt that mean i got stronger?, and stronger triceps would definitley aid in bench pressing.. this guy has the mind of someone that goes in the gym and throws as much wieght on as he can without any concern for anything else. using big words doesnt mean you know what youre talking about..i dont work out for increase in weight i workout for body composition and looks. YOU WILL GET STRONGER REGARDLESS. this is an example of an education with no real application or kknowledge behind itPretty good article. But you have a huge misconception regarding crossfit. For the amateur you may be right; however, a true, world-class crossfit athlete does program. They calculate workloads, oxygen consumption, test lactate with standardized routines. In fact, I guarantee, pound for pound they are stronger, faster, develop more power, have higher endurance levels, maximal oxygen consumptions, and clear lactate much better than 99% of individuals who are "training" ... Including professional sports athletes. My experience you ask? Consistently train with many of the world's top 50 crossfit athletes. Two bachelors - physics and physiology. A masters in science - exercise physiology. And two doctorates - kinesiology and neuroscience. All from top level programs. Oh yeah. I'm also 27, 6'3" 230 @ 7% with a 72 ml/kg/min VO2, 335 power clean (and yes full range), 475 squat, 405 bench, 650 dead, and 300 snatch. Natural.
This is one of the best articles I have read. You want progress, Basic heavy barbell movements make it happen.
