Jims Creatively Titled PNI Log

Thanks brother, I'm kind of upset that I squat more than I Deadlift....

I always have my wife take a knee and make sure I get below parallel as well.

Also, my weights at 163 now so I'm down a pound. Which is surprising because I figured I'd have lost more (I lose weight like nobody's business when my appetite tanks).

I squat more than I dl also, hoping that will change soon tho!

meh..me too
so what?

i can do ATG with insane weight (or so i'm told, i'm never impressed by the weights i lift tbh)
parallel of course i can get more, and DLs come in behind that
i can almost bench more (and am far more comfortable in doing so) than what i DL

lifts are all raw all the time, but honestly man, i could care less what i DL (or any of my other #s for that matter)
don't sweat it, simply keep moving forward

poking through these forums I notice a lot of people squat more than they pull, same with myself.

who cares, heavy weight is heavy weight and we all have our own individual strengths

reading your track workouts makes me want to vomit btw :)

That's crazy, but then again your upper body is fuggin massive.

I can't even ATG squat, I can get a decent bit below parallel but if I go to far my lower lumbar round and my butt tucks.

Same here I can't ATG the bar. My lower back rounds and my hips lock up lol...

Work your way up if you want to do them.Just start out with light weight to get your form right, these took me forever to be able to do successfully.Still not great at them, but as with anything practice makes you better.

I've noticed that as well, but still lol.

Really? Everytime I read my track workout I'm like 'no big deal'.....and then I start doing them ....

ATG is actually more comfortable for me lol
i do more of that, than any other squat form
guess it's just how some are constructed, i don't know

oh - i also bring military BB press behind neck, down to base of neck (touching)
some cringe at that as well

:D

I had started doing that a few months ago but I don't think its worth it honestly.

There's a good article (dunno how accurate) on Oly vs PL squats on TNation. ATG is definetly more natural it seems, take a look at Olympic lifters front squatting 500lbs ATG for reps.

I did RE squats tonight and finished up with 1 set of oly squats at the end of my workout for 30 reps ATG and it rocked me

Jim, check out some videos of Brandon Lilly. He trains a lot with pause reps at 50-60% of 1RM to maintain strength in the hole.

Regardless, your squat is great for your weight

Some things just arent for us all man.

I remember you talking about that, and it definitely makes me cringe.....

I think if I worked on my mobility a little more and started working on ATG squats it would probably help with my oly lifting but I don't do it regularly enough for it to be a priority lol.

I think ill probably work ATG on all of my lighter sets. I know its something I need I just hate going light lol.

yeah as sean says, is like anything else
i dint start out 300+ ATGs man, was built up - like everything
you might be surprised - form grows on ya

I don't think its not for me as much as I just hate the idea of going light lol.

Trust me I know exactly how you fell,if its not hard for me to work with I dont like it.No matter how heavy or light that maybe, its not supposed to be easy right.

Hey long as your breaking parallel. I struggle with it and have to make a conscious effort while I'm doing it to do so

Very true,so common to see people these days not even getting close to parallel.

i like this mack
great mentality
look at the hard things, as a challenge to overcome..some of your best results/growth will invariably come from this undertaking
i liken it to Arnold, and his view on attacking weak points..he mauled his calves which at one time were a tremendous weak point for him, because he dint like working them..they became neglected (comparatively speaking)
eventually, he turned this into one of his strengths, thru sheer will
i hated legs at one time, had freakin twigs down there..
took on that "attack the weakness" mentality, now many think they are one of my strong points

No linear acceleration work this week.

We did death by 10M Sprint for PT yesterday morning and I just didn't feel like crushing my legs on the prowler after work lol.

Today was OHP, went in with a bit of a headache but it's gone now. Just need to drink more water, and not sleep til noon.

Pre-Workout: .5 scoop Prodigy, 2 scoop CreaTrona

Intra: 1 scoop Prodigy (will not do again, will just stick to .5 intra. May try 1 pre and .5 intra next time)

OHP- Work to 1RM
85x3, 95x2, 115x1 (Warm-up) 135x1 (Old Max), 155xF (stalled halfway up and couldn't push it out), 145x1 (PR +10)

CGBP- 10RM from WK1 to failure Note: On week 1 I hit 135x10 easy but was only able to get 155 for 6 so I don't have a 10RM and just repped out 155
95x8, 135x8, 155x9 (+3Reps)

Complex 1
1/2 Kneeling DB OHP (1 arm): 1x10 // 50x9
DB Row (1 arm) : 1x10 // 75x10
Dips: 1x10 (per round) // +45x10x2

Complex 2
1 Leg Bridge: 2x12 // BWx12x2 (Forceful contraction and hold at top)
Prone March: 2x10 // BWx10x2 (Hold at top)
Face Pulls: 2x10 // 80x10, 90x10, 100x10, 110x9
BR No Money: 2x15 // MDx15x4

Had a little bit more of a pump today than usual. Vascularity was good during the workout but I was suckin wind throughout the complexes (which is not a usual thing), also used more weight for the first complex than I had for a while (shoulder felt good so I went for it).

Also, this will probably be my last update for a little while. We are supposed to be heading out into the field on Monday and then coming back Thursday and leaving Friday to come back Monday. We are supposed to be doing PT in the field (probably Xfit) and they want me to bring my KB's, Medicine Balls, Bands, and TRX (which the Sir will be signing out from me). I'm not going to be bringing anything with me, except maybe my OT and Cissus. Haven't quite decided if I will even bring that (I usually don't but I will probably be better off if I do)

Crazy workouts all throughout this log, work is definitely getting done!

Damn it kid's beast mode!! How do you like the powder Creatona so far? I've done the capsules and thought it worked well for recovery.

I'm still feeling it out a little and playing with dosing.

I'm not sure I like it more than regular mono at this point.

Great log! Better late than never though ... I had something to add in regards to the previous squat discussion but just lost it (on my phone) and not retyping .... :P

Had some fun, figured I wont be lifting this week so why not get a little extra work in.

Hehe...yeah one of those "ah f@ck this!!!" moments as I almost throw my phone across the room for its insolence ... typing on touch screens sucks...

I promise it isn't my fault! I've been sucking in the cold, wet woods since the 4th!

Weird I always thought you did your suckin in the bathroom at the truck stop :).

Yeah when life gets tuff and I notice jim ain't on the board it's always a comfort to think, well it could be worse, at least I'm not out there in the woods livin' off acorns and rabbits... Never do hear you complain though..

Today started my HT mesocycle, the focus is on TUT for hypertrophy. My weight took a shot during this field operation but I came back strong had a solid workout and flew through it. Focus was incredible, especially considering how tired I have been all day and the pump today was awesome. Sweated up a storm and beat my upper body up.

Pre-Workout: 1.5 scoop Prodigy (Loved this amount)

Intra: .25 scoop Prodigy, Powerade (drank my wifes powerade as well)

12FEB2013 Upper HT 1

Incline Press- 3x10 // 135x10, 145x9, 145x5 +2 (thought I could push it out for 10 after the set of 9 but the lowered rest killed me)

Chest Supported DB Rear Delt Row- 3x10 // 30x7, 20x10, 25x10 (strong contraction)

a1. WG Cable Row- 3x12 // 80x12, 90x12, 100x10
a2. DB Bench w/ Bridge- 3x10 // 50x10, 60x10, 70x7.5

b1. Face Pulls- 3x12 // 70x12, 80x12, 110x12 (these got easier on the second set)
b2. Lying Tri Ext- 3x10 // 20x10, 25x10, 25x9
b3. Ext Shoulder Rot.- 3x12 // 10x12, 20x12x2
b4. Standing Cable Crunch- 3x12 // 60x12, 90x12, 130x12

Felt awesome for a first day back, never have been a fan of incline bench but I think I finally figured out my groove for it today. I was pumped up today, especially in my back and traps. I felt GOOD. Will pick back up with the Paragon and rest of my staples tomorrow morning.

Trying to get some of this GET BIG work in here, hoping to get up to 185-190 (end goal) and stay fast so I can walk on a team when I get out and go to college.

Weird I always thought you did your suckin in the bathroom at the truck stop :).

I generally prefer to do it there but sometimes the 82nd makes me move location. The change of scenery is nice for a little while but it gets old fast :srs:

:notsrs:

Went into the gym with a lot of soreness in my knee (the bad one), normally it isn't an issue but being off of the joint support for the last 8 days and then being forced to run with the pose method at PT this morning and it is inflamed! Didn't really notice it once I got moving but I am definitely feeling the pain right now. I try to explain to them that I cannot run that way because the acute contraction of my upper leg leads to improper patellal tracking (diagnosed) and inflames the tendons and ligaments, it isn't really a fun thing.

It also doesn't help because I'm not a SGT and if you aren't a SGT it doesn't matter what you know because you are wrong. Even though I'm the only one with any background in fitness :sigh:

As yesterday, focus and energy were awesome. Can't say much in the way of pumps (it was leg day afterall) but I felt good! Strength was there and I was moving some weight today. Thermogenic effect was definitely strengthened, I was literally dripping sweat right from the get go, relieved a lot of stress. Now I'm just hoping PT tomorrow morning isn't ridiculous because I am going to be HURTING!

Hope it gets better soon my friend. Knee pain sucks. When i started loosing all that bf I had in the last two years, the pain got less and less. I still have some days though but been taking a msm/chondtion/glucosamin complex that's help.

I generally combat it with joint support and SMR helps a lot.

Unfortunately its a genetic thing, all I can do is control it. And never run distance when I ETS lol.

usmc terminal lance... lol

and i have some extremely horrible knee pain, and no one up my chain of command, gives a ****. Can't wait to pump the benefits when I get out.
