Snatching has definitely increased my vert, need to retest or test box jumps.
 
Solid point, I only did them out of curiosity. Hadn't done box jumps since July, and then 42" was hit or miss. I was hitting 40"+ with easy after squatting, so vert has def improved.

Got my new RPM wraps, had to try them. Foreveralone, so wrapped them myself and used half my energy wrapping and tying those suckers. By the time I tied them, exhausted, should have been good for 5+. RPM definitely have more spring, even with my crap wrap job, than my old APTs.

How many days per week are you squatting? Like errrrday?
I'm averaging 4x per week of a total 6 days lifting. The other 2 days involve OH squatting of some kind usually. Today I didn't squat, but I did snatch balance and OH SQ. It really seems to be working too, last meet prep the week before was 385x3x2 squats and 525x3x2 deads. I did 415x3x2 squat days after sets of 425 and 405 earlier this week,

Last lifting day before Sunday, just mobility and stretching hear on out. No sodium today and low carb, just had my last milk/fruit carbs, I'll see what I wake up as tomorrow.
 
Day started at 7am, 192lbs in the morning, was at the meet 8:30am, lifting started 9:30am. Three of my teammates were in the first flight (women and men up to 165kg). My buddy Dustin and I were in the 2nd flight (men 181-198). We started lifting at 11:30am, warmed up for squats and they felt a little heavy but not too bad.


SQ 430 - Easy lift.
SQ 450 - No lift. Knee wraps were too tight, I asked for them tighter...and tying the right knee, it came untied and we had to retie, and thus was a different tightness than the left knee. I couldn't get any knee travel forward, my ass shot back and I caved right into the spotters arm. They caught me and all was good.
SQ 450 - Good lift, a little bit of a struggle. Disappointed I didn't get 465+ as I had just a week ago. Meet PR.

D 578 - No lift. You can ask for a 4th lift when it's an American record breaker, so I did since I felt I had more in me. I failed this same lift last April meet. I didn't know the platform was waiting for me, I never heard my name called. My buddy then came up to me with a huge chunk of callous hanging off his hand and asked me to fix it. I was confused as hell, people were yelling at me to get to the platform. I rushed over, knocked over a chalk bucket, belted up and tried to rip n grip and failed hard. Only got it 4" off the floor. Next meet.

Anything 400+lbs is almost unseen in even commercial gyms. Privately owned and athletic based gyms obviously different.

Dan was super chill, asked a lot of questions about my training and gave me feedback and ideas for my training. On sumo, he wants me to bring up my hip strength up to improve my lift, he recommended sumo pulls off 4" blocks. Spoke a lot about the things he finds beneficial to his training, one thing was a lot of rowing (chest supported and DB row) with frequency and volume. Spoke about pretty much every facet when it comes to training, told my buddy and I that we should train with him once he opens his gym up, called Boss Barbell.


Watched him bench 480 for a near double paused, then slingshot up 565.

Pleased with my squat PR today, more confident for next Saturday (USAPL SoCal Regional).


I'd like a minimum of 446/246/578, the squat and dead will be a new state (181 junior) record for me. Plus 1250+ total qualifies me for 198 weight class for collegiate nats. Loftie goal is 460/250/600...

Meet report:


We drove down 8hrs from San Jose to LA, 10 people total in a van, was a long drive and I was pretty tight from the drive down. I only had peanut butter and honey on the way down. Woke up 6:45am on Saturday to check weight and make sure I was under, I was. Then made sure all my other teammates were under as well. One of our 165's was still 4lbs over, so I started sweating and spitting him in hopes of making it. He still came in 1kg over, so he was in the 181 division with me. I made weight 82.45kg, with an 82.50 limit.


Was a super long day for me, I helped handle the women and light males, helping with warmups, calling depth for squats, and deciding next attempts. All of our lifters did well and 4 total qualified for collegiate national competition. I was extremely tired by 12pm, and napped for about an hour on the floor. When 3pm came around, I started warming up to begin lifting at 4.


Everything felt heavy, everything. The bar slid all over my back on squats, felt so slippery. Lowered my opener in feel of failing. Hit first 2 attempts without much trouble. 446.5 would have been a state record, and that was my minimum goal. Felt like the longest squat ever, and much slower than 450 the week prior.

Again, everything was heavy. The cut in the last week prior to the meet wrecked my strength. 255 was the same speed as 231.


D 530/573/578X


Not as heavy as everything else, but the bar was unfortunately a Q-bar. Which is stiffer and thicker than a deadlift bar, felt like it had zero whip. I needed 573 to break 1250 barrier, so just went for on my 2nd attempt. Luckily got it and nearly passed out walking off the platform after. I knew I didn't have anymore in me, so went for 578 and failed hard. I can see my form goes to crap when I step on the platform. Shoulders go over the bar, hips rise to soon, gotta fix that in the future.


Seemed to be quite a lot of bias with the judging towards our lifters, 3 of our lifters had lifts turned down that looked perfectly legit to me. Other lifters had hitched deadlifts and high squats passed...

Very cool report. That sounds brutal though. Cutting to get in a weight class, 8 hour drive there, nap on the floor, and then bust your ass to try and lift the most weight you can. At the same time sounds awesome! Haha

Still had some sick lifts bro.
