TRT/HRT and Insurance?

Just starting my search for a Dr and finding many who are "out of network". Is this normal, and if so, why? My current GP will prescribe Test Cyp and my insurance will cover that, but that's all, he does no estrogen testing or meds, so I'm looking for a more complete approach. Just not sure where to look yet... Is this treatment going to be something insurnace doesnt typically cover?

Yes, just have to look .Where are you located at? I have medical professionals all over country who may accept insurance,

I am in the same boat.I have been through all blood work since december "11 and currently on test, dhea, arimidex, vit d,and now synthroid. All blood numbers are where he wants them but this is very expensive.Lab is always around 200 and his visit is 175 and then 3mnths of meds is 300 and insurance doesn't cover any because he's out of net work.I just found out my meds insurance will cover so I will start ordering from them now.I want to take all my results to someone whether it's general practice or specialist so it will be covered and not cost so much money.I am finally feeling like I should for the first time in my life and don't want to quit because of cost.Any suggestions,I am closely located to birmingham alabama.

Hi Matrix,

Would you happen to know of a good doctor in the Atlanta or Alpharetta, Ga area?

Thanks!

There is a I know who uses pellets and has it possible covered by insurance...Goto hypogonadism group yahoo then can direct you

Matrix,I have found a couple of endocrinologists in my area that is covered under my insurance.I want to take all my lab work, papers, results etc. to one of them.Do you think they would continue what my current dr. is doing since he has me pretty much lined out on trt .All tests were where he wanted them except thyroid.I am now trying synthroid until next blood work.I am satisfied with what he has done for me but if I continue I want to be able to use my insurance since I pay so much for it and he is out of the network.I also thought about going to my gp dr. and try that route as well. What's your thoughts?

You ever you are going to you have to the right to find this information out by calling and asking. I always tell people, call ahead to see if the Dr is a good match. When people interested in seeing Dr's I work with. I tell them to call me and spend 20-30 minutes to see if that is the approach they want to do. One thing I put up front if all you want is TRT and not be willing to explore further options with ones health then we are not a good match. We put alot of time, research, effort and compassion in creating a good working relationship. Bottom line there should be no surprises when you get to the office.
