Charging up with NeuroSurge--A Neogenix sponsored production

Day ten: 4-26-2012

Supplement thoughts: A full serving of Neurosurge about 30 minutes before lifting. Still responding well to this, slight stomach irritation in the first few servings is gone and hasn't returned. Focus and energy still remains solid. No crash either!

Workout: Day four of Phase three, second time around.

A1- Explosive Squat- 6 sets of 5 reps: 155, 175, 185, 195, 205, 185
A2- Jump Squat- 4 sets of 5 reps.

Rest 90 seconds.

B1- Close grip bench- 3 sets of 8 reps: 135, 135, 135
B2- Front squat to box- 3 sets of 8 reps: 135, 135, 135
B3- Barbell Curl- 3 sets of 10 reps: 65, 65, 65

Rest 180 seconds after each triset.

C1- Cross body bicep curl- 4 sets of 10 reps: 30, 25, 25, 25
C2- Overhead plate triceps extension- 4 sets of 10 reps: 45, 45, 45, 45

D: "Goblet" bulgarian split squats- 2 sets of 8 reps (each leg): 20 lb. DB

Great workout. First superset was a killer again. Did less jumps but heavier on squats. Heavier all around than the time before on all exercises if you go back and compare the two. Still digging this Superhero workout a lot. This completes week 2 of Phase 3 (which is four weeks long). Saturday I will start week 3 of Phase 3 with Chest and Back again.

Actually treated me quite well. I don't know what (if any) effect it had on stamina as I haven't been consistently sprinting in a while so I can't accurately comment there but it did have me geared up for it so that's a win. I'll hit the gym for quads and arms later today.

How was your focus when you did the cardio?

Hope the stomach irritation goes away for you buddy.

Well it has. It was always slight, but there on the first few (probably 3) servings. Haven't noticed it since. May have just been one of those things where something else I did earlier in the day caused the irritation and not the Neurosurge because it certainly hasn't done it since those first initial dosings.

Day 11: 4-28-2012

Supplement thoughts: Full serving of NeuroSurge 30 minutes before workout. Let a former workout buddy who was in town try a scoop as well. I think you may have made another fan! He loved the taste and said the workout was one of his best in a long time. Clearly it was going to be a great workout no matter what cause I haven't lifted with him in over a year, but he was really liking the effects! As for me I had a fantastic workout as well.

Workout: Week 3 day one of Phase 3 of the Superhero program.

A- Incline Bench Press: 6 sets of 6 reps- 105, 115, 125, 130, 130, 135
(Rest 60 seconds between sets)

B1- Pendlay Row- 3 sets of 12 reps: 95, 95, 95
B2- Incline Neutral Grip DB Press: 40, 40, 45
(Rest 60 seconds between exercises)

C: Wide grip pullup giant sets: 5 reps, 4 reps, 4 reps, chinups 6

D1- Squeeze Press: 5 sets of 10 reps- 35, 35, 35, 35, 35, 35
D2- DB Pullover: 5 sets of 10 reps- 30, 25, 25, 25, 25, 25
(rest 60)

E1: Scap pushups- 2 sets of 12 reps: BW*12, BW*12
E2: Cable row- 2 sets of 8 reps:
E3: Pushups- 2*15: BW*15, BW*15

Did some farmers walks and jump ropes at the end. Some solid increases from two times ago on weight. Just fantastic workout and great feeling.

Glad our stuff has sparked your interest.

Anything you particularly like that you would recommend first (i.e. your favorite product).

That sorta reminds me I need to try that Velocity XT supplement sample sometime soon...but that won't be a product I would be interested in for a while. I have a ton of other products like that to finish first!

Just to let you know on the velocity XT, it works very well, and i have been taking the Neurosurge full scoop too. Took it here at work on and i was dead tired and all of the sudden BAM i was up running around. Might have to get some of that later on too, and if i recall i think i had a pretty good pump and more vascular too. I think i also drank quite a bit of water too though.

I'm definitely going to give it a shot soon. It's on top of my fridge with a billion other samples and I had forgot about it.

What i like in BodyForge is the COP and CM always help with endurance for me. Add some LCLT to it and you got yourself a good non stim preworkout. I tend to stay away from stims myself cause i become to addicted to the feeling and drag down when i don't take em. So anymore if i need that extra little bit of drive literally half a scoop of NeuroSurge is all i take.

I like the stims myself but yea i know the same feeling though but i so take time off. Just right now running low on energy from dieting so i kinda need the energy and i love the Neurosurge cause it works damn good

I like the ideas, I'll let you guys know what I end up purchasing.

Day 12: 4-30-2012

Supplement thoughts: Drink of Neurosurge 30 minutes prior. Starting to be more of a pain to get that scoop in. Definitely need a longer scoop. Oh well if it gets on the fingers then I just lick it off. Yum :) This is a minor complaint though!

Workout: Phase 3 week three, workout three.

A- Explosive Trap Bar Deadlift- 4 sets of 8 reps: 185, 195, 205, 205

B1- Single Leg Calf Raise- 2 sets of 20 reps (bodyweight hold at top and bottom)

C1) Barbell Hip Raise- 4 sets of 6 reps: 95, 95, 95

C2) Walking Siff Lunges- 3 sets of 12 reps: 20, 10, 10

D) Seated Calf Raises- 2*20 (145)

E1) Romanian DL: 2*12- 95, 95

E2) Swiss ball leg curls: 2*12

A good strong workout.

Day 14: 5-1-2012- Yeah it's really day 13 of me taking Neuro, but since I gave the workout partner a scoop I'm on serving 14. Kinda lets me (and you all) know how much I have left.

Supplement thoughts: Full serving of NeuroSurge 10 minutes before workout. "Forgot" what time it was and didn't get it in as early as usual. Still had a great workout from it!

Workout: Week 3, Day Three of Phase 3.

A- Push Press- 4 sets of 5 reps: 95, 95, 95, 95

B1- Lumberjack Press- 3 sets of 10 reps (5 each side): EZ+30
B2- Y Press- 3 sets of 15 reps: 10 lb. DB's

C1- Arnold Press- 3 sets of 10 reps: 25 lb. DB's
C2- Lateral Raise- 3 sets of 10 reps: 20 lb. DB's

D- "Shoulder killers" 10 reps bent over laterals, followed by 10 reps lateral raises, followed by 10 reps front raises, followed by 10 reps overhead press. 2 sets of 40 reps: 10 Lb. DB's

Added a set to the first few workouts. Definitely think my shoulders will be sore tomorrow. It's an off day and a well needed one at that!

Update: Will have another report tomorrow, but then will not be active in this log for a few days. Friends bachelor party weekend. Should have a report Thursday and then Sunday.

Day 15: 5-3-2012

Supplement thoughts: Neurosurge 20 minutes before workout. Yummy grape taste as always. I know we got a lot of good tasting pre-workouts on the market but I really do love this taste. As mentioned before a lot like the old grape x-tend flavor.

Workout: Day four of Phase three, 3rd time around.

A1- Explosive Squat- 5 sets of 5 reps: 185, 195, 205, 215, 215
A2- Jump Squat- 5 sets of 3 reps (weighted)

Rest 90 seconds.

B1- Close grip bench- 4 sets of 8 reps: 135, 135, 135
B2- Front squat to box- 4 sets of 8 reps: 135, 135, 135
B3- Barbell Curl- 4 sets of 10 reps: 65, 65, 65

Rest 180 seconds after each triset.

C1- Cross body bicep curl- 4 sets of 10 reps: 30, 25, 25, 25
C2- Overhead plate triceps extension- 4 sets of 10 reps: 45, 45, 45, 45

Wanted to really trash myself because I'm going to be out of the gym until Sunday or maybe Monday so I put 135 on the bar after all that leg work and knocked out 23 reps of squats. Did the ol run the rack on curls as well for a while and some extra bench dips to fry the triceps.

So hot in the gym today and sweated an absolute ton, but had a terrific workout. No updates until probably Sunday. Next week is the last week of phase 3 of the Superhero program before moving on to the final phase. I have nine servings of Neurosurge left so enough to knock out phase 3 and then maybe a week on phase 4. I will be starting another log on Monday with Alpha T-2 and starting an intense cut. I will make a separate log, but continue to update this one and give a detailed final review as the product comes to a close. See everyone on Sunday!

Day 16: 05-07-2012

Supplement thoughts: Well I finally fell victim to the ol' if some is good more should be better trap. Took a scoop and a half of Neurosurge before the workout and felt like absolute garbage during the workout. It might not have been all the Neuro giving me this effect as I wasn't exactly feeling awesome all day. Just accelerated heart rate and that general don't feel good feeling. Like I said I'm not putting this all on the Neuro (coming off a bachelor party weekend with crap diet didn't help) but I did not feel good. Have always had good luck with Neuro so I'm going to stick to one scoop from here on out. More isn't always better!

Workout: Week 4 day one of Phase 3 of the Superhero program.

A- Incline Bench Press: 6 sets of 6 reps- 105, 115, 125, 135, 115, 115
(Rest 60 seconds between sets)

B1- Pendlay Row- 3 sets of 12 reps: 95, 95, 95
B2- Incline Neutral Grip DB Press: 40, 40, 40
(Rest 60 seconds between exercises)

C: Wide grip pullup giant sets: 1 rep (this is where I really quit feeling it, couldn't hardly move).

I just went home because if you're not feeling it it's not worth fighting. I feel better today and one scoop I believe is the sweet spot :)

Everyone will have their bad days man - I doubt taking another half scoop was what caused it. Sometimes a culmination of factors just renders you a bit exhausted. No big deal, it's your habits that will determine your progress, not your occasional slips. You still went to the gym and stuck it out through some exercises, and next workout you'll be right back on track and progressing with leaps and bounds.

Gotta hate the bad days buddy, but they grant you a point of reference in regards to your progress, so take it that way and be happy that your next one will just be that much better.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll bounce back today. I agree it was probably the other factors, but I'm not going above 1 scoop anymore. No need to, 1 scoop works!

Day 17: 05-08-2012

Supplement thoughts:

Back to one scoop today and the usual great feeling from Neurosurge is back. A much more productive workout!

Workout: Phase 3 week four workout 2- Hamstrings and Calves.

A- Explosive Trap Bar Deadlift- 4 sets of 8 reps: 185, 205, 215, 215

B1- Single Leg Calf Raise- 2 sets of 20 reps (bodyweight hold at top and bottom)

C1) Barbell Hip Raise- 4 sets of 6 reps: 95, 95, 95

C2) Walking Siff Lunges- 3 sets of 12 reps: 20, 10, 10

D) Seated Calf Raises- 2*20 (145)

E1) Romanian DL: 3*8- 105, 115, 115

E2) Swiss ball leg curls: 2*12

Core work: Medicine ball situp throws. 3 sets of 15 reps.

Comments:

A solid workout. None of the jittery heart racing crap feelings from yesterday which as previously mentioned were probably not due to the Neurosurge at all or possibly alone. Definitely getting towards the bottom of the barrel here. If my count is right I should have 7.5 servings left, but I can sadly see that the time left with the supplement is getting numbered. I plan on posting a detailed final review when that day hits, but I can assure you this is towards the top of my pre-workout list!

Very true I say it all the time sometimes more isn't better.

Which is good because some pre-workouts people talk about needing 3 scoops or whatever. The product lasting longer because it is effective at the recommended dose is never a bad thing!

Day 18: 05-10-2012

Supplement thoughts: Neurosurge 25 minutes before workout. Had a dose of Alpha T-2 before it but didn't notice a whole lot of difference other than what Neuro usually gives me. A good feeling today and I'm sad this is coming to a close!

Workout: Week 4, Day Three of Phase 3.

A- Push Press- 4 sets of 5 reps: 95, 105, 105, 105

B1- Lumberjack Press- 3 sets of 10 reps (5 each side): EZ+30
B2- Y Press- 3 sets of 15 reps: 10 lb. DB's

C1- Arnold Press- 3 sets of 10 reps: 25 lb. DB's
C2- Explosive Lateral Raise- 3 sets of 10 reps: 20 lb. DB's

D- "Shoulder killers" 10 reps bent over laterals, followed by 10 reps lateral raises, followed by 10 reps front raises, followed by 10 reps overhead press. 2 sets of 40 reps: 10 Lb. DB's

Excellent shoulder workout. Tomorrow wraps up Phase 3 as I move onto the last Phase of Superhero training. I'm really loving it so far. Might take a short break before doing it again!

Killer shoulder workout as usual. Your log has been nice and detailed bud.

Thanks. If a company is kind enough to send you free product the least you can do is give a detailed log. I hate the people who get product and then log 400 things with it or don't log it at all.

Day 19: 5-11-2012

Supplement thoughts: Full serving of Neurosurge dosed about 20 minutes before workout. Solid workout as to be expected now. I'm starting to scrape towards the bottom of the tub, but I should have a few Neuro powered workouts left!

Workout: Day four of Phase three, 4th and final time.

A1- Explosive Squat- 5 sets of 5 reps: 185, 195, 205, 215, 225
A2- Jump Squat- 5 sets of 6 reps.

Rest 90 seconds.

B1- Close grip bench- 4 sets of 8 reps: 135, 135, 135, 135
B2- Front squat to box- 4 sets of 8 reps: 135, 135, 135, 135
B3- Barbell Curl- 4 sets of 10 reps: 65, 65, 65, 65

Rest 180 seconds after each triset.

C1- Cross body bicep curl- 4 sets of 10 reps: 30, 25, 25, 25
C2- Overhead plate triceps extension- 4 sets of 10 reps: 45, 45, 45, 45

D: Squat finishers- 165*20 reps

E: Biceps finishers- 21's on EZ bar curls.

This wraps up Phase 3 of the Superhero program. I have three weeks until the program is complete. It's supposed to "finish" off the physique. Looks extremely tough...I'm excited for it!

What kind of weight are you doing on those 21s? I've played around with them in my routine before and always have a hard time finding a weight that challenges me on all three movements of that exercise. I had been using 80lbs for the longest time, but then I bumped to 90. Issue with 80s is that on the last set (full reps) I ended up being able to do 9 reps rather than 7, so it seems like that's the time to boost up...but then when you go to the 90 and have that extra poundage added to every movement, I'm barely getting out the 7 on the last portion lol.

My gym's preacher bars are all pre-weighted, and go up in 10lb increments, so I'm a bit SOL there.

My biceps were pretty fried and honestly it wasn't part of the program anyways just something I wanted to do. It's one of those exercises that finding the right weight (your 80, 90 dilemma) is probably going to be an issue as you're starting out pretty strong and should be getting quite fatigued by the end. I think I had about 75 on the bar IIRC.

Good stuff man...wish my gym would buy an EZ Bar you could add weights to lol.

Day 20: 5-14-2012

Supplement thoughts: Full serving of Neurosurge before this "off day" type workout.

Workout: Yesterday was Day one of Phase 4, but I didn't even get a third of the way through. I had to help my girlfriend's dad with something as I got called early on it! Ah well, workout 1 is the one workout that is repeated an extra time so it'll be all good. I'm making a few changes and trying to do some more on the off days since this is a three day lifting program. Kinda got inspired to mess around with some carry training from this article. Invalid Link Removed

A: Started out with two EZ bar farmers walk: 65 for one minute, minute rest, 55 for one minute.
B: Shoulder carries: 45 pounds for one minute, minute rest 40 for one minute.
C: Barbell suitcase carry: 65 pounds for one minute, rest one minute 45 pounds for one minute (both arms same protocol)

This sucked way worse than I expected and I got quite the cardio workout from it even though it was just walking! One problem I need to alleviate is where I lift is really two small connected rooms so I don't have a lot of walking room. I think if it's nice next time I do these I will do them outside! Fun stuff. Threw in some miscellaneous core work at the end and some jump rope!

Supplement thoughts: Full serving of Neurosurge 25 minutes before weight training. Looks like I have three scoops left. My final review will be very soon as we bring this log to a close. It's been a fun ride! The focus and energy was there

Workout: Day two of phase 4. "Density based muscle building." This is basically E.D.T. with a slight twist for those familar with Charles Staley's program (I'm a longtime HUGE fan of EDT).

Circuit 1: Perform A1 and A2 back to back for 5 minutes with lighter weight (approx. 15 rep max). After this rest, and increase weight and lift for 5 more minutes. Each exercise performed for 5 reps. Basically the same idea with the other circuits with a difference in no. of reps.

A1- Front Squat: 95*5 reps for 4 sets.
A2- Bent over row: 80*5 for 4 sets.
-----rest-------
A1- Front Squat: 115*5 reps for 4 sets.
A2- Bent over row: 95*5 reps for 4 sets.

B1- Reverse Lunge: 10 lbs*12 reps (6 a leg) for 4 sets.
B2- High pull: 75 pounds*6 reps for 4 sets.
B3- DB Bench: 30 pounds * 6 reps for 4 sets.
-------rest-----------
B1- Reverse Lunge: 10 lbs*12 reps (6 a leg) for 4 sets.
B2- High pull: 85 pounds*6 reps for 4 sets.
B3- DB Bench: 40 pounds * 6 reps for 4 sets.

C1- Lateral raise: 10 lbs.@7 reps for 4 sets.
C2- Thor's Hammer: 20 lbs. @7 reps for 4 sets.
-------------rest------------------------
C1- Lateral raise: 10 lbs.@7 reps for 4 sets.
C2- Thor's Hammer: 20 lbs. @7 reps for 4 sets.

Workout thoughts: Took it easy on weight as I want to be able to increase the load every week and it can be a little difficult on some of these exercises. Overall a really solid workout. It's some high volume and going from exercise to exercise with minimal rest is pretty tiring. Definitely satisfied with today's workout.

Day 22: 5-17-2012

Supplement thoughts: Full serving of Neurosurge 25 minutes prior to lifting. My final review will be sometime next week. I have a few workouts with Neurosurge left, but I can already tell you guys this is a winner.

Workout: Day three of Phase 4 of Superhero program and the end of week 1 of 3 of the last phase. This is kind of a circuit where we try and hit a total number of reps trying to focus on the reps being as high quality (explosive) as possible. It's short rest between exercises and short rest between circuits.

A1: Barbell Lumberjack Press- 65 pounds for 5 reps repeated 4 times.
A2: One arm DB rows- 55 pounds for 5 reps repeated 4 times.
A3: Bulgarian Split Squat- 85 for 5 reps repeated 4 times.
A4: Pullups- 3 reps repeated 6 times.

B1: Deadlift- 205 for 5 reps repeated 5 times.
B2: Incline DB Bench- 40 lbs for 7 reps repeated 5 times.

C: Basically did one arm row countdowns. Had just read a Matt Kroc article on Kroc rows and got a wild hair up my butt. 55 pounds for 10 reps both arms and all the way down to 1.

Workout thoughts: Nice one. I underestimated this. Got tired and gassed early but fought through. This phase is definitely more draining than the last one which was more traditional bodybuilding type phase. Definitely getting a cardio type effect from this phase which is great since I'm cutting. As this is the first week I'll be trying to increase the load the next two times I perform this workout.

Day 23: 5-20-2012

Supplement thoughts: Full serving of Neurosurge 25 minutes before training. Felt flipping awesome.

Workout: Day four of Phase 4 and the start of week 2 of 3 with it. This is a conditioning workout.

A circuit: Perform sequentially for 30 seconds, as many reps as possible. Rest 30 seconds between exercises. Complete 4 circuits.

A1: Speed squats
A2: Push ups
A3: Single leg romanian deadlift
A4: Plank
A5: Inverted Row

B circuit: Perform B1-B5 for 45 seconds each. Do 5 total.

B1: Hand walkouts
B2: Alternating reverse lunges
B3: Mountain climbers
B4: Jumping jacks
B5: Spiderman lunges

Ended with two rounds of tabata jump rope.

Workout thoughts: Nice workout. Felt solid throughout and was sweating like crazy.

----Final Review of Neurosurge----

Taste: 10/10- It's a very refreshing drink. It tastes a lot like grape xtend (old version) and very subtle. Another example would be a grape jolly rancher. It's not over-powering in the least bit and it's a taste I always looked forward to.

Mixability: 10/10- Always used my blender bottle with wire whisk at the bottom. Zero clumps, Zero floaties. An easy mix with no problems.

Workouts: 9/10- Had some really great workouts on this product. Definite energy feeling with solid focus from the product. It shines in the "neural" department. The effects hit and are long lasting but never had much of a crash. It's heavy on the stim side with 300 mg of caffeine but I never felt jittery or anything.

It isn't really designed to help in the pumps department like some other pre-workouts. I wonder how this would stack with agmatine or something like hemavol...things that are designed to help with pumps. Might be worth seeing if one is really looking for pumps from their pre-workout.

Value: 7/10- Most places it's a little over a dollar a serving which might be a little pricey for some people, but pretty comparable to most other pre-workouts. Another thing to mention is that 25 servings should be just that--25 servings. No need to double or triple the dose to feel the effects. In fact the one time I tried to I got diminishing returns. 1 scoop was spot on.

Overall: 8.5/10 I really enjoyed my run of Neurosurge and would highly recommend it. It's certainly in the upper echelon of pre-workout products.

Awesome review I'm happy you enjoyed it seems to be common theme once people have gave it a chance they enjoy it.

Appreciate the opportunity to run it and let people know it's legit :)

Its definitely legit i've only used one whole scoop a few times in my running it cause i'm so stim sensitive.

No doubt. I would advise everyone to start at a half scoop and work up from there if need be. One scoop is plenty!
