So u don't know WTF it is?

Genetics is commonly the cause for them, though trauma to the back, hand, arm, chest(where ever it develops) seems to favor fatty deposit as well. Not sure on how to get rid of them other then simple excision or liposuction. If your up for injecting bile salts and choline that could potential work, but I wouldn't make it my first choice.

Are the deposits dangerous?
It's just genetics/trauma that cause em?

Nothing that I have seen has ever pointed at them being dangerous (at least not conclusively). A lot of people get them (and by a lot, I mean a LOT). You'd be surprised at the amount of people that come to a Health Care Provider for the single reason of cyst and/or fatty deposit removal. Work it in to your next appointment and your insurance should cover it. If not, removal usually isn't that expensive. Genetics seems to be the number one explanation.

Thank you.

Thank you.

No problem. If you don't mind my asking, where is the deposit at? Deposits on the arm and back usually take 5-10 minutes tops to remove. Inject some lidocain, make a scratch and viola. Quick and painless.

Should be fairly easy. Next time you go to the doc or anything for a check up just have them get it for you. ;)

That's how I found out what it was. They said I needed surgery to remove it

Yeah, that's usually the case. Its a simple process with local numbing agents etc. Might need 4-5 stitches tops (depending on how big the deposit is). Hell the nurses and PA's do it all the time.

Some Dr's have different priorities. I guess they are of the mind set of why do more work for the same amount of money...... I do find it very odd that they will not even do a simple fatty depot(cyst) removal though.

If the aesthetics doesn't bother you too much, you'll be fine leaving it as is.
