Hi I have a friend that weighs around 150 and he wants to know how many scoops of he protein he should put, he drinks one everyday after his workout. 4 scoops=55g of protein. It is elite mass pro.

Enough to hit his daily macros.

Tell to try and at least get 150, but to shoot for 200...

Just do the 2 scoops. So he hit 200g that day instead of 150. So what. But i agree with T-bone: solid food is more anabolic.

depends on what his targets are for the day. If he only takes in 150g a day and is seeing results then drink whatever he needs to hit that protein mark. The extra calories from the Gainer shake is not necessary, only if he can't eat it.
My post workout shake is like 200 cals, 20g protein, 20g carbs. I eat a pretty damn big meal an hour after that though....

Some people don't have appetites......some really not at all.....protein powders are OK!!!!! everybody back off the ledge....don't jump :D

Protein powders = ???? ;)

I like that Serious Mass

I would prefer food over shakes but at work its hard. Plus I need quick ways to get cals in.

I usually do the mattrag way but my numbers are doubled. Then a big meal.. AND Im still stuck! Grr....

I gotta take half my protein from shakes, between no appetite and rushing around at work.....seems there is not enough time to eat anything or there is no desire (well maybe desire to eat BAD food....with minimal protein in it).....Then again, if the protein intake is low enough....around bodyweight....then much more comes from food. But with double bodyweight or 1.5 BW? it gets tough to take in all that protein from food....like 270-350 grams! But I like to bust balls when people vilify protein powder users or dbol only cyclers LOL....yes, I am pro-both!

Well the guy only weighs 150 pounds. Plenty easy enough to get enough protein from real food at that weight.

Right

hahahaha, TRUE!......well unless he is going double his weight at 300 grams lol....

I don't think most need that much maybe 1.5 max.

I try and hit my 190 and maybe shot gun a bit with some extra. That's still enough because the calculation is for lean body mass ;)

yeah I usually do LBW X 1.5 and go with that. But LBW and actual BW is pretty damn close for most of us on here with good BF %'s. but it can be the difference of 40-60 grams which is a lot. I can't wait to go back to 1.5 BW, with about 30 of that being BCAA/leucine.....gonna be nice, double BW is killing me LOL....3-4 more weeks....but it seems to be working nice with the AH and other supps I use on this stack....

What r u noticing from that stack?

that stack and diet is crazy, I went up about 7-8 lbs (one month on just the DAA/Erase then one month on DAA/Erase/Androhard)....and it wasn't fat, I actually lost fat and gained muscle. Wasn't even trying to gain weight at all, but with the double protein I ended up getting more towards 3,000 cals a day and I usually do mid 2,000's....so I suppose a gain in weight would be anticipated. I did not think 3K cals was much for someone who works out 4 times a week 45 minutes or more and has a reasonably active job, as far as gaining so much weight. So yeah, working great in all departments. about 3-4 more weeks, I'll probably be at 200 lbs by then LOL......

Yeah I'm about 190 and do 2300-3k depends on how the day went.
Either way that's awsome.

What powder are u using.
Debating on grabbing some syntha 6 found some here locally for $43

I've been using ISOPURE whey isolate at 50 grams per day (morning or PWO) and about 50-75 grams egg white powder. sometimes I use muscle milk as well if I need even more supplemental protein. so a combo of those three. I had the muscle milk from previous, but I usually don't use such high calorie powders (despite good taste and all the ingredients being healthy). I actually had a small amount of syntha-6 in a random container and I used it the other day a few times when I ran out of my other powders LOL.....

Compared to what I've been taking syntha 6 is mild...
2 scoops 400 Cals 44g protein 30g carbs 12g fats, 4 sugars and 10g fiber...

Before my gainers were 600+ cals 85g+ carbs and 50g of protein...

Syntha would be better 4 me

yeah more like an MRP than any type of gainer....but you know me, I want the zero carb and low fat protein supps. egg white powder and zero carb Isopure have zero carbs and zero fat lol (well 1 gram of fat per 50 grams protein in the iso ;))

Carbs won't hurt u.
U keto?

You count BCAA's as complete proteins?

yeah....we've been over this numerous times with varied opinions.....go do a search on BCAA , stuff from the past month or two....you'll find a few long ass threads about whether to count BCAA and aminos as protein or not. Actually most of the smarter people agreed on them being counted as protein calories. go figure! LOL

I drink them but I don't count it...
I'm
Usually drinking a 4:1:1 ratio to I think.
If that's the case easy to get your protein in then lol. Well easier.

your body knows amino acids, that is what it breaks the protein down into.....and the BCAA's go right into that pool whether as whole proteins or not....and BCAA are the preferred aminos for building muscle....think about it.....neither here nor there though.....whether you take in "200 grams of protein plus 40 grams BCAA" or "240 grams of protein with BCAA added in"....who gives a fuq???? lol.....It's all helping build muscle and its all gonna be aminos eventually.........

I'm
Saying I don't know the calculation of aminos into proteins.

us "BCAA as protein counter people" usually just figure one gram of BCAA = one gram of protein. simple. depends on if you "believe in it" or not though....but that is the calculation to keep it simple, probably not entirely accurate....but close enough....

I love counting aminos :)

Literally? as in pouring out the powder and counting them? or as in counting them in your daily protein intake? inquiring minds want to know LOL :D

No1 can be that dumb bird... Haha
We need to arrange an AM 6 month meet in a central area so we can put some faces to the bullsh1t

Hahahaha daily intake. Imagine that literally though...amino one...amino two...amino three...

yeah but the only problem with that is that all the people from down here are all the crazy mofos you might not want to meet in person LOL!! like realbigga, stangbanger, you, me :D

No need for me to search it, I would not have inquired had I not already had a standpoint on the matter. I personally just don't bother when I use BCAA's, which is rare anyways, nor do I bother to add up the real caloric value. 10g of BCAA's is too insignificant for me to think about it.

like I said earlier, doesn't really matter....did you take in 200 grams protein and 20 grams bcaa? or did you take in 220 grams of protein including 20 grams bcaa? who cares? you took that in, and that is that. but some like to count those bcaa as cal's/protein so they can meet their lofty daily protein goal. I am one of those. especially if I am taking in 30-60 grams of BCAA and leucine (that is a lot and is of significance). but to each their own, it all goes for the same purpose whether amino or whole protein....

Whoa, really dude? Was that a Freudian slip or did you really want to share that?

Definitely understandable, if I took in that many grams of BCAA's I'd likely count them, but on the other hand, there's a lot of people that don't count them, simply due them not being on the label as protein, or having any caloric significance on the label.
