i had a laparascopic bilateral varicocelectomy today.

i went in at 1030am, met the "crew" at 1130, got my iv, and left at 215pm. it feels like i have had a good kick in the stomach. i have 3 bandaids on my belly. they gave me a script for an antibiotic and vicodin. i hate vicodin.

anyway if anyone has questions i will answer, and as the healing progresses i will update.

i have had the varicoceles since i was a teen, and the left side has causd a lot of pain/ i also believe that since i have had this condition since i was a teen it has hurt my test levels, i am 36 now, last check was total test of 309.

I feel like crap, swollen some, constipated as hell, and I am not even allowed to pick up my baby. The incisions are nast looking, but seem to ge healing ok. I didn't get vicodine so its a bit painful. If I worked a desk job id be fine at work, but just low energy.
I can tell it worked, the varicoceles are both pretty big, but they are the same size all the time. They don't even swell when I do a vasalva.

It hurts to cough, laugh hard and poop.

ok 2+ weeks through with. Doctor told me 1 month of light duty ( I am a firefighter)...basically that means desk work, but i went back to work at 2 weeks anyway and worked on an ambulance. no pain anymore, my nuts still are sensitive.
it looks like my left one is done though is super soft and is about half the size of the right. the doctor who did the surgery is a great guy though, he basically said lets give it at least 3 months to heal and see where my hormone levels as well as energy levels are. I may or may not take him up on it.

I can say that this process so far seems to be a good one. The varicocele on the left side is the smallest it has ever been and the one on the right though larger than before surgery is also shrinking some too. I will be very curious to see what my testosterone levels come back to, but with my last test at 309 prior to surgery anything would be good!

If someone with any kind of knowledge please help. ok ive been dealing with chlamdyial prostatitis for awhile now. its giving me a small varicocele and the varicocele has caused damage in the area to the left testicle and veins in the area. im suffering from ED semen watery sprem and months ago i had chronic pain in my scrotum. the pain in the scrotum is not been bad anymore i really dont even feel pain down there anymore to be honest. but some times when i try to do something heavy lefting wise or strain my abdomin i can feel the pain come back. i just recently had an ultra sound and the docter said i have a small varicole. and damage in the area i been kind of new that so it wasnt anythang. new from my own knowledge of doing research on this situation, then i just got my semen anaylis back and that came back normal, but showed that i did lose some sprem count. i know im suffering from infertility i really dont think that test was not accurate cause just from going thru. this situation for months now ive had so much liquid watery sprem. the only reason why on te test for the semen might not have been that bad is cause. i been dieting better with alot of furits and giving my body better nutrints so i think thats been helping. the urologist i was seen tells me that the embolization procedure, wouldnt be good for me cause where the damge. is i can mess up an artery.

I personally know that the embolization procedure is 100 percent artery certified the urolgist i was seen just dont care and im see a new doc soon and i want that procedure done to help with the infertility. and i want to know if i got a prostate msg would it help with the prostatits i dealing with, another thang is the blood flow in circulation from the testicles to the heart is a problem cause im strating to have chest problem. i know blood flow and circulation is a big problem probably the main no flow down there if some one has any knowledge please help thank you names ray.

second although i know the operation isn't a very long one but it being a urological surgery i'm worried they'll have to give me a cath. did they have to for you or not?

prostatitis doesnt cause cause varocicoceles, it is due to failed valves in the veins, whether due to activities that damage them or due to a genetic problem. a small varicocele that had to be ultra sounded to be discovered is a grade 1 (or even sub grade 1) and the absolute smallest you can have. the ones I had you could see from 20 feet away on the left side it was so big (grade 3), the right side you could feel at any time (grade 1). You do not suffer from infertility if your semen analysis came back normal, even with a lower than average sperm count. my problem was MUCH worse than yours as far as scale of damage and i still had a kid recently. The only reason they are even suggesting the procedure to correct the varicocele is because of your complaint of pain, without that they would not be doing anything for you.

Your chest "problem" is completely unrelated to your varicocle. Blood flow and circulation in regards to your nuts will have almost no impact on your chest "problem" you could have both your nuts cut off and not have a huge impact on immediate heart health.

You have 3 problems: 1. prostatitis, 2. an insignificant varicocele and 3. unspecified chest "problems"
1. this one is likely causing ED and the watery sperm quality, ESPECIALLY if you have chlamydia or recently had chlamydia that went untreated for way too long.
2. might cause occasional pain, insignificant to other "problems" will not effect testosterone levels at your age, or the small size of the varicocele, nor will it cause any significant circulation problems.
3. your chest problem unless diagnosed by a cardiologist is most likely really a problem in your head called hypochondria.

I had never been under until the surgery, and yes they did give me a catheter. I hate the idea of being knocked out but I trusted my surgeon and they did a great job. I went in, did paperwork, got in my gown and my wife and daughter were there when the nurse
anesthesiologist came in and put a line in my arm and I really just felt like I fell asleep really fast. When I woke up I was a little sore around the incisions, and it burned for 2-3 days when I peed due to the catheter.

which procedure are you having done?

I'm not sure yet i believe the Micro surgery, just the left. when i went to see the urologist we left it with me going to think about it I'm calling him in an hour or so to have the process started. Were you out when they put it in?

I was originally going to do microsurgery on the left side only (the grade 3), but decided that the doctor doing it was a douche bad and didn't go in. the second doc found a grade 2 on the right and said he would rather do the laparascopic procedure due to faster recovery time since that would interfere less with my job. I am a career firefighter so its not like I could go back to a desk 3 days later. With laparascopy the second procedure would only take 5 minutes longer than doing one side alone. They did not do anything to me until I was under from what I recall, they found it was easier to go ahead and do it while I was under since I would move a lot less, and there was no need to bill me and use several different anesthetics.
