Saying good bye to phenibut- kidney pain

So for the past two weeks, I have been doing NP's phenibut at 1g/dose (measured exactly with scale) 4 days a week. Monday Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Lately, I noticed a pain in my lower left back. Upon googling, I found this stuff can be toxic to the kidney if taking too often.

Has anyone else found this? I found myself not even craving beer now- just water. I know I would like to still take phenibut as I LOVE it's effects, but not if it will harm my kidney. Has anyone else had this side effect? Besides lowering dose and frequency, is there something I can take with it to help? Thanks guys

i usuallly take 7g + twice a week, i know a guy on the forum running this stuff 10g a day and he hasnt cycled off in half a year... lol. no problems for either of us.... yet

I wish- this stuff was a dream. I did some googling and yielded the following:

"However, even at 3-3.5g dosages, a pain could be felt around the liver. Urine was dark the whole next day. Although the hangover is pleasant IMO (still very pro social and relaxed, but something slightly off with vision and balance) it leads me to believe that something dangerous may be going on."

While my urine is fine, I have the pain. Perhaps it's my liver? This is all I could find. Perhaps I'm one of the unlucky ones

The only thing I added to my daily pill/supplement regimen besides this was Claritin D- I wonder if they are reacting negatively

eh, i saw that too a while back when i was looking up possible interactions with the oral steroids im using. drink more water?

Thank you sir. I mean, I don't drink as much as I should so I will step that up. Do you notice a lower back pain when you'd don't drink enough?

I used to take IBE's Neurobalance back when it was on the market 4x a day, but I drank a gallon of water a day. Perhaps you're onto something!

haha, i just drink a lot and try to stay in the habit. if i dont take my fish oil i get pains and creeks everywhere. sometimes my piss will smell bad if i dont drink enough water on phen... and then if i do drink enough its crystal clear all day. cardio is awesome for water consumption. i can do sled drags and suck down a full gallon in 10 min easy just because im that thirsty from it. can also drink half a gallon without taking a breath... ahhh good 'ol water

That's a shame to read.

I've never experienced side effects like that..

Recently been trying this. Low dose of Phenibut, but combined with a slew of other effective ingredients.

Tell me about it. Phenibut really did good things for me. It sucks my body seems to be sensitive to it. I am taking a week off to see how things go. I am also drinking a ton of water. I appreciate the link!

Have you used Phenibut, prior to the last two weeks?

I worry that there might be an underlying issue, that maybe the phenibut exacerbated.

I have, but this was probably 3-4 years ago when IBE Neurobalace was out. You know, the red liquid you'd let sit under your tounge then swallow. I also only took it on Fridays back then.

Recently I took the phenibut 4x a day to help deal with stress at work and focusing at school.

I get a physical done on the 25th of this month. I will ask them to draw blood and let them know about my tenderness/pain in my lower left back

I haven't taken the phenibut since Friday. All weekend I didn't drink, and I didn't take any today. Lower back is barely tender, only noticeable when I push on it. We shall see what the blood work of the physical comes back with

Chances are high that any damage done by the phenibut would be gone pretty quick and wouldnt show up in a bloodtest taken in another 10 days. Just keep the water intake high and good luck on the bloodwork

I've come to the conclusion that phenibut should be taken once a week max. 1-1.5g on a friday, to allow for the hangover on saturday. Phenibut to help cope with daily stress? Not the way to go. Phenibut is not an adaptogen. Phenibut is an artificial drug. Use with caution.

Well everyone is different. I've dosed it several times a week, much higher doses than 1.5g (more than 4g, I have built up a tolerance) and never had a hanger over. I'm not bragging, I'm just saying.

Phenibut, should be used with great caution. If your experiencing a hangover following 1-1.5g, than that is way too much for you. A hangover is a side effect of too much.
