Posting for my hubby. We need advice on Androgel and vescole veins and ed issues.

My hubby started having testicular pain when he was in his late 20's. After it not going away they checked his levels and his testosterone was like 83. They started him on Androgel. Then a few years later some ants bit his.....um, man hood. It swelled up and he took benadryl and then went to the doc. Everything was okay. He's been having issues with ED. The urologist did the test with injection dye into his....manhood. It showed some issues with blood staying in. He's also on blood pressure medicine. He had an ultrasound of his testies and it showed a veriscole vein. He has taken ED meds. The viagra gives him issues and makes him a little ill. Cialas daily works sometimes but is really expensive! So now my questions LOL!
1. What can we do about the ED?
2. How long should he be on Androgel, he's almost 36?
3. Any natural stuff he can take instead of Androgel? I'm worried about it's effects with prostate cancer ect....
4. Any advice period???
5. Any other websites out there to help us?

Dont think the ants had any long term impact. ED cauases can be pretty complex, but with the low test, the BP meds (beta blockers in particular are notorious for ED), and blood flow issues, I think an MD is the best route for his issues.

I think the vein you are talking about is known as a varicocele. If it was of significant size or causing you husband problems, your urologist would be the man nto take care of that.

good advice there are some threads concerning varicocele in the anti aging forum. i have one and have since a football accident in 9th grade im now 42. my uro says if ive lived that long with it and doesnt cause me any pain why bother with it. but on the other hand it could possibly be why my t is low also.

there are studies going back to 1975 that show that varicocele's will cause leydig cell damage over time leading to not only lower sperm counts and poor motility/mobility, but also throught he 30s and on testosterone levels will drop off. The variance in test levels is not as noticeable in younger men. I am looking forward to getting my bi-lateral varicoceles fixed to stop the pain, hopefully have a second kid, and maybe even get testosterone levels up some.
