I Phone 4 Verizon

i phone is king its going to take one hell of a phone to beat this thing

Android had more phone sales last year than Apple did.

iPhone's numbers are so high because there is ONE iPhone. There are many Android phones. Yes there may be more iPhone sales than the Moto Droid or than the Samsung Captivate, or than the Evo but Android as a whole NO Android has sold more devices than iPhone in the past year.

I'll give the iPhone credit for taking phones in a new direction, but I will never own one due to the fact I don't need anyone telling me what I can and can't put on my phone. If you enjoy that sort of thing, more power to ya, otherwise there are a lot of nice Androids out there to choose from.

Looks like Verizons network can't handle multi tasking, least on at&t I can be on a call with a client or somebody, go the internet, look something up, download it or send it to them or tell them whatever... Verizons network you won't be able to do that, you'll have to hang up with them, do whatever it is, then call them back lol
Until June, when the next Iphone 5 is released.

Android is a great platform, problem is there are so many versions of the software that it becomes problematic for developers working on apps for different devices. I don't like Apple dictating what I can or cannot do with my purchased device, they just happen to make the device all encompassing with a universal app environment and media player. I wish the IPHONE was able to play videos back with different codecs, but you're stuck with having to convert vids to the MP4 format.

The 1st gen iphone also had huge numbers.
It couldn't cut/paste, mms, record video, the camera had no flash.
People still ate it up even though it couldn't do the basic things that a dumb phone could do.
I chalk it up to people not knowing what smartphones are really about. My Treo 700P could do more than the 1st gen iphone.
People who bought it fell for the marketing.

I will admit the iphone has come a long way, but for me, it just isn't good enough. I like being able to change things up because I get bored quick. The iphone doesn't provide me with that functionality.

I fully agree with you that the 1st generation iPhone ad little compared to todays devices but back then it was an eye opener and lots of ppl loved it.

I still remember the day the 1st iPhone went on sale, there were long lines around all the buildings with live coverage on TV, it was like a big party very reminiscent of when windows 95 came out.

One thing to note is that the iPhone was/is a revolutionary device where as android is an evolutionary one at best, but still android cant touch the mighty king iPhone

Not true. The HTC Thunderbolt has this functionality.
I was referring to the current version of the Iphone that Verizon released, which doesn't allow for multi-tasking. The 5th gen release in June will encompass multi-tasking as the device is being redesigned for that purpose, and perhaps a newer feature set.

multi-tasking as in background processing?

the current iOS4 has that ability already... but it will only let any apps run for 10min then the OS will kill it to save battery life.

i dont know the details on iOS5 yet, where did you see that?

Agree to disagree.
The iphone has no customization unless it's jail broken, android has few limitations on customization without being rooted.
For me, that makes android much better than the iphone.

The only thing the iphone revolutionized was the multi-touch screen.

The device isn't optimized for their 4g network yet, as to many technical changes would have had to been made to the device. Seems Verizon just wanted to get it out there. Multitasking will be enabled in June, when Verizon plans to sell the 5th gen Iphone with 4g capabilities.

you're right the iPhone does not support 4G, on next model I would bet on it.

I have no idea what you're talking about multitasking... iOS4 already supports it.

It's not enabled (multitasking) yet on Verizon (CDMA). AT&t it is.

From one of the articles you didn't read.

"AT&T's network, meanwhile, lets users continue a voice call while updating their Facebook"

its the network not the phone. Read some of the previous posts

The Iphone for Verizon operates on CDMA which uses two signals, shutting one off while the other is in use. What I stated before is that the Iphone on Verizon does not allow for multi-tasking;however, multi-tasking is available on the At&T version of the device. AT&t's phone operates on UMTS, which allows for multi-tasking vs CDMA (Verizon) which does not. Perhaps I'm wording it incorrectly, my point remains the same, multi-tasking is available on AT&t; however is not available yet on Verizon. You are correct about the device. I believe the only key differences between the two are the antenna and CDMA vs UMTS. I'm not disagreeing with you.

you're correct about that, we touched basis on that subject earlier on this thread, and someone stated the android was capable.

I have never once in my life needed to surf the Internet on my phone while I was on a call. I think this is a very weak argument.

There are people who have never needed to respond to an email on their phone, that doesn't mean it isn't useful to everyone else.

Not quite. Honestly, what you said is like saying "I dont use any feature other than making calls, so I dont care that your phone can text"

Not quite. Trying to say surfing the net while on a call is as common as mobile mail or texting is a little out there. But it's cool, if that's how you want to justify ATTs ****ty network to own a iphone so be it.

Uh...did you not read earlier where I stated I am going with a Android in 1 month? Also I never stated I liked ATT's network, in fact the only reason I am with them is because almost all of my calls are free (in-network). But, yes I can say I have done other things while I have been on a call, its not a bad feature. I think someone takes this a bit too seriously.

I am neither an iPhone owner, nor an AT&T customer, but your argument rests on denying common sense principles in the sake of being a contrarian.

I'm really hopping yall be moving to VZW and clear AT&T network... b/c I'm staying for my discounts.

On a side note, I am most certainly purchasing an Atrix once available in Canada. That said, internal documents reveal a new contract between Apple and ARM for the very powerful A9 multi-core.

I saw a review on CNET for atrix, just b/c its dual core I'm not impressed.... that device is not a game changer IMO, I still think Droid x or EVO4 are better devices.

Yet another worthless analogy.

It wasn't an analogy, it was a true statement.

There are plenty of people who have smart phones that don't even have data plans, they bought it for the wow factor. They use it for calls and text only.

I have used both the phone and internet at the same time a lot since it can be done with wifi. When the Thunderbolt (android) is released on Verizon, it will have the ability to do both without wifi.
