Fedor signed with Stikeforce.

Lesner is a freak athlete he isn't always the most technical fighter but he gets better with every fight and i think fedor would have trouble handling him. Until he stops dancing having to fight the best at his weight I won't give him the respect he deserves.

This is the most absurd thing I've ever read.

go look at his pride FC record. top guys at time. and he made UFC former champs look terrible even tho they were on a downslide he made that downslide go full swing

look a win is a win, yes lesner got his title shot quick but a win is a win and in mma dosent matter how u get the win. as long as brock keeps winning he is the UFC champ and his waist can prove it. (i wish he loses though i never liked him much even in WWE) though im sure he is a dedicated fighter his record shown ^^^ is very impressive probably most impressive wrestler in college/uni ever

I don't believe money has anything to do with Fedor running away from fighting in the UFC. He knows he can do the rounds beating up has-beens & never-was's and not risk his legacy and ensure a big paycheck and a sure thing as far as some form of 'legacy' is concerned.

If he went into the UFC and took a beat down from Lesnar (Which is much more likely than him taking a beating from anyone where he's going regardless of what you think of Brock) then his reputation, marketability and ultimately his legacy would be in tatters.

To suggest that just because he's Fedor he should get co-promotion with the UFC is absolutely ludicrous. No major federation in any sport would entertain a deal like that. So instead he's signed with a Mickey Mouse operation fighting nobodies. Really hoped that it wouldn't end up this way as I think it would be great to have him in the UFC but ultimately I think what Dana said was pretty much on the money.

I would still favor Fedor over Lesnar, but Lesnar is quick enough and strong enough to accidentally knock out ANYONE.[/QUOTE]

:toofunny: thats hilarious!!!

fully agree..

Dana's offer was rediculous. First, one thing you should know about Fedor. He's not competing for money only. Its way more for him than just a paycheck. Dana's offer was " No competing anywhere else but UFC and if Fedor doesn't lose the belt , he cannot even leave after the contract is over". It's a joke imo. Fedor will never sign anything that doesn't allow him to compete Sambo. For him, respect of his countrymen , plus all of those kids who train Sambo, who look up to him as their role model IS MORE IMPORTANT than fake "smile" of Dana White. I bet even most of you would prefer to be surrounded by people like Fedor instead of people like Dana.
There are people who think that Fedor is the best MMA HW in the world. Others think that Brock Lesnar with 4-1 is the best MMA HW. I belong to the first group. Do some of you guys really think Dana's interest in it a " competition between the best fighters"?. The only thing that drives Dana is $. Nothing else. I'm not saying it's wrong. Dana is the UFC president and he got the company where it is today because he can promote the sport better than anyone else. But lets not pretend he wants the best fighter to compete. If it was $1mil. payday for Dana in promoting a fight between 2 midgets, he'd do it just and probably would've become best friend of midget population in the US. Fedor on the other hand an Olympic medalist (prize winner) in Judo I believe and World Champ in Sambo. He is a competitor in every cell of his being. I am sorry for writing " a book" over here lmao, but I felt it was a good argument. My friend's sister will probably kill me: this is her account. I hope she'll forgive me lol

Fedor has never competed/tried out for the Olympics. He has won the Combat Sambo championship many times (he did lose the most recent competition however).

This is just all jumbled - no offense. Fedor never competed in the Olympics in Judo: he was a World Cup bronze medalist, and I believe a Russian Champion. Also, DW's last offer did allow him to compete in sambo.

There are 2 main sticking points: one is business, while the other is pragmatic.

The business end is the co-promoting between M-1 and the UFC. I completely agree with Dana on this (can't believe I just said that) issue because there is not reason to allow M-1 to leach some of the profits away from a potentially huge PPV just for Fedor.

Pragmatic is slightly stickier: the cultural difference between the US and the old Soviet Union/Russia. Many of the old-guard harbor some anti-US sentiment even today and Dana is fulfilling the prototypical "loud-mouth American" while negotiating the potential contracts. Plus, Dana says so much sh!t about everyone that he always contradicts his position. If he approached the negotiations with more humility and respect, then he'll have a shot. Until then, this endless struggle will continue.

I thought the business sticking point was the copromotion part that entailed fight promotion in st. pete and developing the russian fanbase. My understanding is the ufc didnt want any part of it for economic reasons not so much the m-1 leaching into the us side of things.
