UFC 101 DECLARATION

If I hear "I want BJ's belt" one more frikin time.....I may rear naked choke myself until I pass out.

Well, considering that BJ Penn is posting video responses to Kevin Iole's article - wherein he spoke about GSP the whole time; you know, not the person he is fighting - two days before his fight, I think it's safe to say it messed with his head in a counterproductive way. First of all, Penn clearly accuses GSP of steroid use, and then is surprised when Kevin Iole asks somebody else aside from BJ whether or not that's true! Anyway, the investigative journalism here is incidental to the fact that, two days before his fight with KenFlo, BJ is still whining about losing to GSP - that cannot be stressed enough.

Mullet, you are exactly right. I cannot argue with you there. It's obvious that BJ's is not over that loss at all, and it could be messing w/ him in a counterproductive way. That's a shame. I hope he comes into the fight focused. If not, he loses. I, for one, do believe that his head is on his shoulders. Talking about that loss and those issues so close to this fight does show that is weighing on his mind, and is not a good idea, but doesn't necessarily translate into him not being focused on beating in KenFlo's head.

I really want to know WTF Marinovich knows about MMA?

Rodja, probably not much at all. BJ obviously isn't training w/ Marv on his MMA skills. I don't know this as fact, so please don't take it as such, but I would imagine that BJ brought his MMA people with him to Cali. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't. I believe he is using Marinovich as a conditioning coach strictly, for which he is held in very high regard. IF that is the case, BJ will come into the fight in great shape. If he does, IMO, game over.

If I hear "I want BJ's belt" one more frikin time.....I may rear naked choke myself until I pass out.

:haha: Unfortunately we will hear it about 100 more times from now until tomorrow night!

HAHAHA SERIOUSLY. Its THE WORST sound bite ever. He sounds more like Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone than an MMA fighter.

I was speaking more about why would you enlist someone who has little knowledge on MMA as you conditioning coach? He's a football trainer, not an MMA trainer. They're worlds apart in terms of S&C. That's like enlisting a basketball trainer to improve your batting average. With the all of the other options, why choose him, especially since he moved his camp to Cali?

BTW, It's probably obvious that I am a BJ fan, but no superfan (I DID want GSP to lay a beating on him), hence me trying to stick up for the guy in what is probably a losing battle here lol. He runs his mouth and speaks his mind, which many, and understandbly so, find brash and annoying. I admire him though (for speaking his mind, not for being ****y), he knows that most people will react negatively to it yet says what he feels anyway. I'm the same way, people I meet either fall in love with me or they don't care to be around me lol. I guess it's just the personality type.

P.S. - If I did get my head beat in, I wouldn't blame it on greasing or steroids. That I DO find annoying! :mischievous:

If BJ is allowed to exert 8 seconds of max effort once, then stand around for 30sec to a minute, and then exert again, he's gold.

Well, even if you dont agree with bringing M.M. in, BJ is in great shape now. I understand that doesnt exactly equate to MMA shape, but he is def more lean than usual at 155. Dana said he hasnt seen him in this type of shape since 2000.

You do have a valid point. I was actually shocked and wondering the same exact thing when I read that as well. We will all get to see whether or not it worked out for him tomorrow lol. I know Marinovich trains MLB, NFL, and MLS players, which as you said, does not translate to MMA. I have read over his website some and I know he uses unique training methods for strength, coordination, and injury prevention. All that I DO know as fact about the guy is that for Polamalu's first 3 seasons he trained with Marinovich in the offseason - NO injuries those seasons. His 4th season (I think) he was asked to stay in Pittsburgh in the offseason to train - That season he was nagged by injuries ALL YEAR. The next year he goes back to Marinovich - no injuries at all. And we all know his style of play lends itself to injury. Now, how his methods translate to MMA we will see soon enough. I'm actually curious.

With the all of the other options, why choose him, especially since he moved his camp to Cali?
Don't have an answer for you here bro, maybe there is a blog or video of something with BJ explaining why he made this decision? Unfortunately I can't try and look any of that up right now. I may try to find something later.

I did find a video, one of the few that I can see here at work, and it's quite funny. It's short, but it's BJ, Marinovich, and some other dude walking around where they train. It's all outdoors and in a tiny garage lol.

:nono2: I question your opening statement.

LOL. I know man, that wasn't necessarily an ALL good night for me. I like both fighters, but what it all came down to for me was I wasn't ready for GSP's tear to come to an end. Hence, I wanted GSP to win. A "superfight" like that can be a double edged sword. You gotta make a choice!

I hear ya. It was the most anxious fight (or maybe tied with Lesnar/Mir, because I so hated Mir). I like both Penn and GSP, but I'm definitely a bigger Penn fan. I don't so much like GSP other then respecting his undeniable talent, but there's nothing about GSP I don't like either.

I reeeeaaaally wanted BJ to win and in my mind it was a 40/60 (GSP) chance, so when it turned out to be completely one sided, I was like "....THA PHUCK..."

Yeah dude, while I wasn't too bummed about the outcome, the fact that it was so one sided definetely sucked.....bad. I was in Vegas visiting a friend for that, and it seriously killed my buzz for the rest of the night haha. I was just expecting so much more. Ah well....

It was like Christmas for me! I recall opinion strangely being slanted in BJ's favor, and me championing GSP like a Canadian hockey-puck iced to his testicles permanently.

LOL Mullet, that's funny. Like I said, I WANTED GSP to win, and I was still bummed. I mean, I was just that much more impressed with GSP afterwards, but still...Volcom put it pretty damn well...."THA PHUCK"

I was more, "What the **** did I say, dammit?" I actually think I said those exact words on here, ha.

This is happening 8 miles from my house and Im not going im pisseddddd

all because local mongrels bought out all the affordable tickets real quick so Im just gonna watch the clips. oh well

nearly 70 years but still probably too soon... but... i think Kenflo slice is latino? He knows spanish is how I've come to my scientific conclusion.
Though he does look stiller'ish so I'm not going on record.

Baby J is looking trim. Finally got rid of some of that baby fat! Forrest is such a beast...I want him to win, but that's going to be a difficult task. I'm as excited for this PPV as I have been for any other one I can remember. Don't really know why either, something in the wind is telling me Forrest is taking it.

YO here are my picks...

Kenflo over BJ -because kenflo has been improving, works very hard, and standup is ever improving. BJ is gonig to get mind fcuked cuz GSP loss.

Anderson Over Griffin - Griffin will be winning the fight and will get counterpunched for a loss.

Kendall Grove over Ricardo Almeda - that height and knees with that clintch is good. loss via submission.

Neer over pellegrino - i want kurt to win but i say he takes to muh damage.

Amir if he doest get hurt before the fight hahahahahah over hedricks via sudmission.

tamdan McCrory over howard because he is AWESOME!

Alright gents. Couple hours away here. Got sucked into watching the usual pre-fight hype on Spike. What a sucker I am. Super stoked for this, I got some high hopes!

did they get ride of post fight chats with joe rogan cause time? Lesnar? More money for lame commericials? Either way it sucks. So far after the first fight it seems very "corperate"

Forest was seriously outclassed last night. Some very nice GIFs on sherdog of the knockdowns....a real work of art. AS and Machida are light years ahead of most MMA fighters.....Anderson has said so himself. Their timing, accuracy and couterpunching is where it's is at.

I think florian( aka ben stiller)is the next big thing.I see him taking this class and moving up and taking that class. The guys a silent beast. He has been getting better every fight.I think Penn is on his way out.Id like to see St.pierre vs Florian in future.Florian has frame to add 10-12 lbs.

Anderson has also sworn he would never fight Lyoto out of loyalty and respect, so there goes perhaps the most technically advanced match in current times.

That may be true or may be marketing hype. Silva & manager spoke to White last night re: him vacating the middleweight title & moving up to LH permanently. White responded with "I can do that", apparently there are sources. Check Sherdog!

White and the Fertittas have said on numerous occasions that fights will happen irrespective of friendships. Despite their relationship, those two may inevitably fight. That would certainly be a good match-up.

The more I see Anderson fight, the more I think that GSP would fare well in a match-up against him. This obviously depends very much on how much mass GSP puts on, as Forrest did not look to outsize Anderson by much last night.

Also, reports are that Forrest dislocated his jaw early in the fight, which would explain why he went down so easily from that right. It is also why he left the Octagon immediately - he needed medical attention.

The perfect BJ Penn, made ken-flo look like it was his frist fight to bad, i was hoping it was gonna be a good fight, but instead we got BJ owning him the entire 4 rounds and i guess at round 4 he was getting bored and thought im gonna take him down and tap him out already.

the hendricks, sadollah fight was in my opinon was a early stopage, i would have loved to see it go for at least another 10sec to see if he would have recovered but o well.

My roommates INSIST Forrest threw the fight. Granted they were very drunk and excited but that was one of those Chuck L as the grazer or grazee punches where you go WTF?!?!. I agree with the most embarrassing comment and I think Forrest did too. He drove a fast car out of that cage back to his locker room. That was stupid IMO he should man up. Nothing to lose my ass.
Kenny did not look like a chump in there at all. Against BJ I think he did well. Now BJ can kill Diego. Not literally...ah why not.

EDIT: I should have read Mullets post. Sorry Forrest. You're still my boy.

Yes. Early and not to mention all Hendricks's punches were on the back of Amir's head.
