Prolactin?

Hi,

When one goes on hormone therapy does one have to keep an eye on levels of prolactin? Before I started any kind of hormone therapy my prolactin levels were low normal which I believe is what you want. Just wondering if I should still test for prolactin levels to make sure they are not to high. I do not know the effects that supplemental testosterone and thyroid hormone have on prolactin if any. Thanks

I think the research on this has been ambiguous at best. Prolactin regulates the HPTA so it sort of follows that a suppression of the HPTA by introducing synthetic test may elevate prolactin levels, which is why anabolic users risk prolactin induced gyno. Yes, it is wise to check the level periodically. If you are being supervised by a doctor I'm sure he/she is taking care of it.
