is it just me.....Alves did not impress me much against Koschek. Koschek took that fight on short notice & did very well. That fight made Alves look diminshed.

The fight to me was really a test to see if he had any chance of dealing with GSP's wrestling by facing a guy with an incredibly quick shot. He passed with flying colors by stuffing everything. His standup looked a little less effective (I almost think Kos was about even punching-wise), but it was probably more to do with the threat of getting taken down.
I agree about Alves' TD defense, but considering Kos took the fight on a week's notice, I am unsure how accurate of a gauge that was. A TD is a highly athletic move, but also involves understanding your opponent's timing and range, to measure which times give the most probability for success: not knowing when/where Alves likes to place his strikes may have hampered Kos' TD timing!
I am not just saying this to diminish Alves/GSP; I am being totally honest here.
Anyone has any idea where to watch those fights btw? Both Strikeforce and WEC?
Edit: I see CP has Lawler and Shields
I saw the whole Brown/Faber II fight, and Faber's hand was absolutely destroyed post-fight; unquestionable break, possible multi-bone based on the positioning and degree of swelling. He seems to have the "boxer's break": a break in [usually] fourth and fifth metacarpals of the hand - these would be the ring and pinky fingers. That almost completely eliminates your ability to make a fist, let alone throw a punch. IMO, the WEC matchmakers will consider that heavily, and maybe put on a Brown/Faber III after Brown's next fight. I would personally watch the shitt out of that! As cagepotato said, Brown/Faber is like Nadal/Federer: no matter who wins, or what the record is, it is just phenomenal to watch!

Yeah, I was going to say I have snapped that little bugger twice myself.
One would think that the end all for fighting but Bas "El Guapo" Rutten says if its healed the right way it will be stronger than what it was before the break.

Personally, I thought he was a cool guy outside of this MMA thread, oh well.
