What causes the weird sensations after a carb-up?

Hi,

I've been doing the keto diet for a while and have switched into a TKD diet. It seems that whenever I have my carb meal before my workout on the TKD, my face gets numb...I get a headache...and it feels like my eyes are sinking back into my head and I can't focus. For these reasons, I think I am going to start to transition back to a standard 40/40/20...but what physiologically causes these senstations? It almost feels like I'm drunk.

Shouldn't be the insulin spike then since you would barely get one w/ those. I'm not sure what happened man.

Even with low GI carbs, this sounds a hell of a lot like an insulin spike and blood sugar crash. If I were to guess, I would say that the oats spiked your insulin which overregulated and depleted your blood sugar.
I'm not sure that I have any advice (I've never done TKD or CKD--hell I'm always bulking!), but you might want to try taking it slower as you carb up.
:33:

hmmm. . . if it feels like you are more drunk, drink more water? Maybe up the water intake while eating these carbs. Maybe you are just a little dehydrated during the carb up and the sudden influx of so many sugars is demanding more water.

I don't know. . My carbs always make me feel fantastic. Vascularity and size through the roof.
