2008 NFL predictions

My boys are getting beat up in Philly but are still in the game. Update, they freakin lost, oh well. I must say though this is the best and most exiting early season in a while, everything is wide open. Some great comebacks and near comebacks.

:bruce3:

The Steelers' O-line looked like it was on life support. Kind of felt bad for Big Ben....and I don't even like him.

As a Steeler fan I am also just as mad at the coaching staff for a lack of adjustments. Hell, 6 sacks in the 2nd quarter, and you come out basically doing the same things? You are going to get one of the better QB's in the league destroyed.

I didn't get the sense of what they did at the end of the game. Why not take the field goal and then try for the onside kick. We also knew they wouldn't win every game. Hopefully they learned something today.

I hope so, I agree, horrible decision making at the end. However, I gotta hand it to the Eagles D they were dominant.

I feel bad for Flacco and the Ravens next week, he is going to get crushed

Oh Yeah!!!, Our defense handed out some licks of their own yesterday. If not for their play a massacre would have happened:gore: btw, Everyone knows how much we love Baltimore aka the "Real Cleaveland Browns"

:bruce3:

The Jets are about to get run out of San Diego. I think someone should introduce Brett Favre to his recievers.

:bruce3:

My 49ers are 2-1 ! Not only did they win but they looked like a disciplined and balanced team. I know it was the Lions we beat but I'm just ecstatic about having a winning record and seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

I was shocked by the Dolphins win over New England. The Philly win didn't shock me but I was surprised at the way their defense annihilated Big Ben and the Steelers offense.

Can someone please explain to me why I just lost with my fantasy team?

I had Terrell Owens and Thomas Jones, and my opponent was done, and I was down by 5 points.

Those clowns couldn't get me 5 points? WTF.

Alright TO, you're forgiven. TJ, you suck.

Yea I lost by a point in a league because TO did absolutely nothing, would have been the second 3-0 team too. F

Wish they gave out points for drawing double and triple coverages which let guys get open and helping guys to score on downfield blocks.:smite:

Cowboys- 27
Packers- 16

Grant held to 3.5 yards a carry. 5 sacks and 0 picks on Rodgers.

Not a horrible prediction. :)

excellent call...cowboys could have had 34 points if marion barber didnt turnover the ball in packers territory in the fourth quarter. go cowboys!!!!

Thanks! I'd forgotten about that. Barber gets a free fumble for the way he played that game. What a beast!

a beast he is..you dont see a running style like his in the nfl. what scares me about him is he unfortunatley might have a short career because of the way he fights and takes out defenses.he might hurt himself bad. but, felix jones is always a great compliment to barber.

You'd think that....but he never gets hurt. I actually think he hurts the other team's players as you always see a safety of LB down after a run play.

You're right, jones is a great compliment.

As good as the Cowboys are, they have the mantle of getting over the playoff choke factor so, this is all preliminary for them. Tough situation to be in when you think about it.

Agreed. No different from the Colts 2 years ago. They are a young team, but they grew up a lot last year.

I agree that we need to win a playoff, but I don't know if it's so much a choke factor. We got beat last year. Fair and square. By the champs.

Mark it, we will be representing the NFC in the SB.

Bold prediction considering bookies are taking 3/1 bets for the Cowboys to take it all. :icon_lol:

The next closest is the Chargers at 8/1.

When it comes to the Cowboys, everything is larger than life. Two facts hurt your situation.

1. You weren't supposed to lose at home after having a week to prepare for a team you beat twice.

2. The last time the Cowboys won a playoff game, Troy Aikman was the quarterback.

Let's wait till game 8 before we make too bold of a projection.

:bruce3:

Cowboys will get better as they get more players back, Hurd should be back this weekend and he's the 3rd receiver moving Austin to 5th.

At the worst Austin is 4th. Stansback has some maturing to do. I think Austin brings more to the table than Hurd....he's faster and bigger.

Ha ha, your wrong about the Dolphins my friend. I'm not a Dolphins fan, but you can quote me on this, " The Dolphins will be considered the most improved team in football @ .500 +." They have alot of talent, and lost most of their games by 3 points. With new leadership, and a better offensive line they will have a winning season.

 The dolphins win over the pats was no surprise to me. Just stick around and you'll see that this prediction was correct hahaha:dance:

After playing like crap for most of the night, my boys got it done in a mano-a-mano game against the Ravens. Hardly pretty but I'll take it.

Agreed...ugly win but a W is a W.

Wish my boys would've got a W this week. They'll be fine though.

Its funny watching ESPN blow one loss totally out of proportion, "The cowboys are falling apart!!!"

Not only was it ugly, it was costly with all of the injuries

I think that statement which was from Mike Ditka had to do with what was viewed as the T.O meltdown.

:bruce3:

For the Jaguar game we will be missing

Willie Parker RB
Rashard Mendenhall-RB*
Kendall Simmons- Guard*
Carey Davis- fullback
Casey Hampton
Brett Keisal
Andre Frazier-KR

* Done for season

:bruce3:

Wow....RB, FBs and O-line is about the last positions you want out wheb you're playing the Jags.

we are the walking wounded right now. God I hope Mewelde Moore can do something, or else it is an L right off the bat.

Good thing the D comes to play each week

If we can get through this game successfully, That will be great. It will also show the resolve of the team. If not, it's not the end of the world. Going into the bye week at 4-1 will be great with all 4 being AFC wins. At 3-2 we can live with it as we two-in-hand in our div.

:bruce3:

My boys came through again. Big Ben Is a bad mutha, hurt and all.
Going into the bye week very happy.

:bruce3:

I usually always route against the Steelers, and like to see the Jags do well just because I like Garrard, but the steelers had a big payout for a straight up win yesterday. Couldn't resist it and look what happened :D.

Broncos 4-1 with a legit win over a quality team. Although Cutler didn't throw up Brady numbers like weeks 1-2, he managed a game against an excellent secondary and overall defense. If and when our D picks up (wasn't bad yesterday either) watch out people.

The Broncos are surprising the hell out of me. I didn't expect this from Cutler and thought they'd be 8-8 or 9-7 but it seems as if they'll win the AFC West the way the Chargers are going. The Chargers are my biggest disappointment, I expected a lot more out of them.

This could be the most unpredictable season in recent memory. I still look at the fact that we're only in the 5th week of the season. In another three weeks the whole landscape could look quite different.

:bruce3:

Pitt is my defense on one of my fantasy teams, so i do find myself rooting for them at times. What the hell is wrong with me?

Go PATS!!!! :bruce1:

Iron, good game between the pats and niners this weekend!

I don't want to make this a point of emphasis because its been played a lot, but considering how respectably (basically he got by) while playing with undiagnosed diabetes I expected him to really come out strong this year. I also find that the first game (granted it was against the Raidddeeers (boomer voice)) that he lit their secondary up without Marshall was a testament to his legitimacy.

The only thing I am concerned with now is our defense and the inability to retain/hold leads. You can only be carried by a juggernaut offense for so long in this league.

My pats got whooped, the giants were thumped, and some crazy last minute endings to games this week. How about that atlanta/chicago game. Crazy finish!

You see that catch by Andre Johnson in the closing minutes of the texans fins game? Insane.

There were a few great catches on Sunday, Reggie Wayne's catch in the end zone, Larry Fitzgerald's sideline catch to name a couple more.

I'm baaaack ! The 49ers are depressing. We were competitive against the Patriots and Giants but proceeded to shoot ourselves in the foot with stupid mistakes ! We're 2-5 and going nowhere fast. I still can't believe we lost that game to Philly, we practically had it gift wrapped.

As of 8:00 pm eastern time, Mike Nolan has been fired.
