Looks like Fedor hurt his hand during his raping of Sylvia.
It is being reported by FiveOuncesofPain.com that a hand injury may put a chink in the finalization of a proposed WAMMA heavyweight bout between champion Fedor Emelianenko and Andrei Arlovski.
The report said Emelianenko has been dealing with the lingering injury and it's severity makes it very unlikely that the Russian will be ready to compete by the October 11 fight date. It's not stated as to whether Emelianenko competed with the injury in his 36-second dismantling of Tim Sylvia in July, or whether the injury was reaggravated afterwards. For the time being, it appears that Affliction is working on a replacement headline bout that will likely see Arlovski square off with fellow ranked heavyweight Josh Barnett.
Both fighters are coming off impressive victories at Affliction's debut event, entitled "Banned," last month. Barnett scored a measure of revenge over old foe Pedro Rizzo with a second-round knockout of the veteran, while Arlovski broke down Ben Rothwell with a punishing series of strikes en route to a third-round TKO victory.
Recently, Emelianenko had expressed a desire to compete two more times during 2008. With these new injury concerns coming to light, coupled with Emelianenko's plans to compete in Japan on a New Year's Eve fight card, there is a strong possibility that the next time the PRIDE standout competes of American soil will be in early 2009.
Other bouts currently in the works for Affliction's second event include a middleweight scrap between Matt Lindland and Vitor Belfort, as well as a clash between UFC standouts Renato "Babalu" Sobral and Tito Ortiz.
