Official Metal of the Day

gotta say, a lot better than I thought it would be when I saw the
opening crowd of shrimps and the TV14 logo in the corner.

Yeah, I was really surprised by the video. (it was on MTV??! WTF?!)

I really like the staccato notes when he goes "Some things are best just left un-said."

Tons of worthy metal bands have covered sabbath toons. Some are covered well, some fall short of doing the originals justice. Here are three choices among my many favorite sabbath toons, and covers by well respected bands.

The thing about Therion is, if you get your hands on stuff from their other albums, you'll see that they're all completely different types of rock. Sometimes it's the opra-esque stuff like Secret of the Runes posted above, which I liked because it resonated with me spiritually. Other times they sound like typical black metal with the whole 'cookie monster had a bad day during week 11 of an injectable test cycle' type vocal style, while other albums sound like some really horrible 80's arena rock. Their major redeeming quality for me though, is that they're always, always coming from a spiritual place. Very in touch with the past, and I appreciate that.
I'm not sure if I truly like Dimmu Borgir or not, sometimes they sound great, and other times they sound like any other half decent black metal band. They came along kind of late in the history of Black Metal I think, so nothing they've done has really had a fair shot at making a strong impression with me, as the genre's gotten a bit stale and I've become a bit jaded towards that infernal melancholy that black metal embodies. It's hard to really feel it anymore like I used to. I think it would be a good thing for black metal if it went back underground, it's getting a bit too watered down and glossy looking, know what i mean?

Dimmu has been around for like 15 years, now they might not have been around as some of the other black metal bands but they are not new. there are some new bands from this genre that i just love, Sear Bliss, I and 1349 now those are some good bands.

i think i like the live version better than the studio one, his voice gets higher in concert. LOL at the beginning they play the charlies angels theme song!

Holy flying devil horns! I found my new home!

My company usually listens to this before making any Sweeps. Great band for pure hard thrash/heavy riffs and great for putting that fuel in my body to carry on my job. Also, I saw these guys play in Germany and let me tell you, it was intense! Great show!

And of course, the best damn thrash metal of all times! SLAYER!

DEP = awesome live. Have you seen the video from Hellfest where he spits fire and sets the drums/stage on fire?

BTW, good call with the Emmure, Joe. I was just listening to that song like 20 minutes ago.
