Everyone is talking like the older guys actually wanted to look like that on purpose. You think if they had the gear to look like the newer guys today they wouldn't have used it? ofcourse they would.

arnold once said every part of his body is perfectly proportioned. that if he increased the size in one part of his body he would have to do so in the same proportion to the other part. therefore arnold (in pumping iron) believed he had the perfect bodybuilder physique.

Old school by far wins hands down.Arnold .I wouldnt want to look like the mass monsters you see today. I beleive its possible to look like Arnold, Zane, Serge Nurbrett nowdays with all these advanced bodybuilding tactics naturally. Look at Layne Norton with what 18 inch arms or more, hes natural and young and strong as an ox .

I can go with Paul Demayo's early looks. When he got older he became freakishy huge. May he rest in peace.

Rich Gaspari.

all due respect dude but there's no way you can compare layne norton in the same league as arnold and there's no way you can build a physique like arnold's naturally, no way at all, arnold had a 58 inch chest with 22-23 inch arms with a 33-34 inch waist!

cheers

I like Darrem Charles. Hes an Ecto like myself. He looks along the lines of Arnold and about the same weight Arnold competed at.

don't even mention lane norton and any pro or former pro in the same sentence. Have you seen this guy on his gay show? So intense, you'd think he was 270 ilbs. But when you look at his body it makes we want to throw up.

BTW, Flex Wheeler was the best of all time....No question, his body pretty much flowed from top to bottom.

Arnold and Serge Nubret have my favorite physiques of all time, and I definitely like the look of the Golden Age pros compared to the mass freaks of today.

Reg Park, Dave Draper, and Larry Scott are also guys Ive always looked up to - it's amazing how great they looked back in the 50's and 60's !

Hell Dave Draper still looks awesome, and he's in his 60's :

im gonna have to go with Frank Zane...i think asthetics are impressive in his case....the coleman gut is a horable look for bodybuilding!!!!....old school hands down.......that Brain Buchanan shot is rather impressive tho....

I agree, I go with Frank Zane also. I think he was 5'9" and I would love to have his build and proportion on my 6'3" frame.

Dave Draper was an old schooler. He still has some of the best quads, hams and calves of all time. In terms of size AND lines.

But I'm a bigger fan of present day bodybuilders.

In the 'olden' days, there were just as many sub 200 lb O winners as 200+ lbers. Arnold was a giant, same with Lou Ferigno, in their time...in today's contests they weigh LESS then Dexter, and he is considered small.

Frank Zane, Ed Corney, Franco Columbu, etc. would be dwarfed on the stage by today's competitors..but just consider that today's top bbers look grossly inflated, where as the old timers retain a hard chiseled look that just shriek's so much more of 'naturality', id rather watch a line up of the old greats compared to the new.

Bigger isnt always Better, in my opinion. Frank Zane won the 0 at 185-190 lbs!!! That is UNTHINKABLE today, and thats too bad, because thats a much more realistic weight for males not willing to get as drugged up as the present pros do and are.

Just don't be ignorant and think if the pros of Arnold's time had the drugs available to BB today they wouldn't look like they do now.

So true

i think frank z had a awesome physique and my fav, i prefer the less vascular smoother look. also the old skool look is much more acheivable imo,

but the new guys still look great

The only problem with the guys today is GH gut, it is getting out of hand. The problem is that the smaller guys that are symmetrical and show better lines just aren't as impressive as the tanks like jay or victor. Imagine Dexter or Melvin with a ronnie coleman frame...that would be ridiculous.

Dennis Wolf is my favorite right now, dude is a monster.

'Nuff Said.

Most impressive look to me. Favorite BB'er. Second favorite poser next to Ed Corney.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but is it me or is Flex Wheeler castrated in one of the pics?

Back on topic, i'd have to go for arnie. It's the way he poses as well, the face he has - not like Ronnie who looks like he wants to rape you through your computer screen :-(

Although steroids were available , there wasnt the choice of supplements that there are today.

My childhood revolved around wanting to grow up to look like Arnie.

Old school look takes it. Arnold was perfect imo.

You want large powerful legs but they have to look lean like his. They were huge but not over-inflated like ronnie.

He had the perfect arms and armor-like chest and shoulders. Amazing. And even tho he only had a 4-pac he still is the king hands down.

Whether its the bloated gut or the thighs of todays guys... I dont know... its just the general look there's something different about today's pro and its so minimal and hard to put your finger on it. Just every muscle on them looks different whether it be more veins, definition or I think its just the shape... it's gotta be today's generation of supps/drugs and possibly slightly different training styles.

ARNOLD = KING!

Definetly old, gotta love arnold, loui, franco and all those guys. New age bodybuilders just look like a block of shedded muscle with big hgh guts.
