Hair Loss Prevention

BigV,

I may have missed this in the thread, but where do you get your Emu Oil from. Someone on this site linked the hairloss-research site, but I wasn't sure if you ordered from there or found another place that has top quality stuff a little cheaper (24.95 for 2oz. seems kinda high, but maybe it lasts longer than I'm thinking.)

Ive heard others say the same thing, Steve777. Did you have lab work to confirm the elevated levels or were you just going on how you felt? No doubt it's possible - Spiro is a very potent chemical...I dont use it very often at all.

I tried Spiro shortly after I started using ATD. The first few weeks of ATD, I felt like I was leaning out nice and holding very little water. After throwing in the spiro, it seemed like I started holding more water again. I also noticed less "morning wood" which was becoming very frequent while on the ATD (I used spiro only at night).

After reading about several people claiming they were getting some sort of systemic sides from topical spiro, I dropped it and went for the 5% xandrox instead. ATD definitely wasn't the best on my hairline, and the xandrox didn't stop the hair loss, but the spiro just had me too worried there were other systemic things going on.

I hear ya - one time I applied Spiro right after the shower when my scalp was still warm/wet. Within a minute I felt dizzy, and had an elevated heart rate. Since then, I stopped using it as a daily hair treatment and now only apply it to the hairline 2-3 times a week and when my skin is totally dry.

ATD was murder on my hair too!! Worse than 1-test in fact. I dont think its from the testosterone elevation, either. Upping my dose of finasteride didnt seem to help at all.

I get it from these guys:

2Oz last a LONG time bro - I think I bought my bottle almost a year ago and I still have plenty left. You only need to use a few drops every night.

It's a worthwhile addition too, for sure.

Nice. Thanks.

As for the ATD, had I known about how rough it was on the hairline I would've stayed away. I used it on and off for quite awhile, and it's funny how you don't notice the gradual loss until it's like "holy sh*t, this stuff is killing my hairline."

Not only that, but if you check the PCT forum you'll see I've had some other issues with that stuff. If only I stayed away from it. It has it's place for some people, but it wasn't a worthwhile move for me.

Had the lab work done. The results were quite a surprise to me and didn't realize the significance until my doctor expressed concern. Didn't have a clue as to what could of caused it until I ran across a Spiro article later.. then I was able to connect the dots.

ATD took a toll on my hairline as well. ATD also decreased libido. Didn't notice the hair loss as much when using ATD with spiro. Without the spiro, hair loss was very noticeable. Has anyone noticed the same hair loss or decreased libido with 6oxo as with ATD?

most AIs will decrease libido, dry out joints... the degree varies per person.

ATD is pretty damn strong though, you can get solid strength gains using it as a standalone. 6oxo is certainly more mild mg for mg.

Thanks for the input Steve777, the stuff seemed to mess with me as well although I never got bloodwork to confirm. Have your potassium levels returned to normal?

Ive used 6-OXO a few times, never noticed any hair issues at all.

Yes the potassium levels returned to normal after I stopped useage- verified by blood work about 2 months later. I may continue spiro someday but less frequently (3X/week) perhaps on days I do not use Nizorol shampoo.

Looking into the 6-oxo. I got good strength gains from the ATD. May not see the same with the 6oxo but I would rather keep my hair! Thanks for the feedback.

Heh, 'good shampoo', or 'good hair loss product'? ;) I tried Crinagen, nearly a full bottle, and 1) nothing changed, and 2) I hate stinky greasy **** that runs in my eyes and stings. Maybe I just didn't use it long enough, and I'm a wimp, dunnO.

I'm beginning to beliEve my problem is not androgen related, but stress related. I've been severely stressed by my job. My hair loss is kind of uneven. Revita says it can help with stress related loss. Yeah, we'll see.

I nearly full agree with this. At the same though, you and have your cake and eat it too. Hairtransplant + Juice. The transplanted hairs will not fall out for any reason. It is suggested that you determine your pattern of MPB before you juice and/or get a transplant.

i suggest everyone take comfort in the advances of hair restoration... it's truly remarkable today. You can go from Terry Bradshaw to Terry Bradshaw with nearly a full head of hair in 8 months - following a procedure or two.

i do agree that the meds for prevention and regrowth are hardly solutions.

Ahh, if it were only that simple for everybody.

You mention the transplanted hairs will not fall out, great...

But what if an individual has not yet reached Terry Bradshaw's level (basically lost every hair that is genetically programed to fall out yet?) Well in that case then even after a transplant one will still eventually lose the rest..so, many precautions still need to be taken to keep the remaining hair. Unless, one keeps making additional investments in transplants.

"Houston we have a problem."

Personally, my hair loss is presently very minor (I have went from maybe a NW2 to nearly back to no loss in the past year). Like many people, I cant stand to see my hair slip away, but at this point and time...

I am not a candidate for a transplant until I have lost a considerable amount.

I don't...no, make that can't watch my precious hair wither away until my scalp is ready for it, which is why I keep using hair loss products.

I don't want to pay thousands of dollars unless it is the absolute be-end-all last resort.

I truly believe one day a real solution will be around and getting a transplant too soon may be a complete waste of money.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think transplants are a wonderful thing, and who knows, one day I may have no choice but to accept my possible future bald head... or get a transplant.

Point is... it's not always going to be "black and white", there is ALOT of gray area.

Of course these are my personal views and situation...so everyones miliage may vary.

You make a great point here. The transplanted hairs will only be as resilient as the donor area they are taken from. In terry's case, he would lose the transplants eventually because his entire scalp is thinning. The donor hair is usually taken from an area normally not as suseptable to thinning. But the procedure is not an exact science... Its the doc's judgement call.

hgh

guys, has anyone here tried taking some hgh and seen any bad results in their hairline. i read some where that it might be good for your hair and for alot of other things since it has no androgenic effect.taken in reasonable quantity that is.

has anyone ever bought a laser-comb from here:

very reasonable prices

Just need to know if the one from the site work or not. Dont fancy spending a small fortune on the hairmax one

I'm sure my questions have been asked a time or two in this thread, but a 1,000+ posts is a lot to sort through and I couldn't find anything searching.

I'm going bald at the ripe old age of 19. In less than 6 months, I have officially gone from receding hairline to obvious male pattern baldness formation. I'm losing my hair at a very rapid pace and I do not use steroids or even work out that much. If it means anything, my father has been bald since he was 17.

Do I even have a hope at restoring my hair loss? I don't want to end up spending $100's a year if this isn't going to be a long term fix. And for those you who weren't successful in fighting baldness off, did you prefer shaving your head or just a simple short trim? I'm thinking that at my young age, shaving my head will probably be the better choice.

Those will work great Adil, I think its where most people get them who dont build their own.

I'm not sure how effective the treatments discussed in this thread will be for you bro. Going bald that young could mean your hair follicle cells are *really* sensitive to DHT, among other factors that you may not have any control over.

If you want to get the topical treatments a shot, Id start shampooing with Nizoral/HeadAndShoulders 2% Pyrithione Zinc EOD, using the laser comb ED for 10 minutes, and apply a few drops of Emu oil every night.

Within 6 months or so you'll know if its effective, and can add minoxidil if you choose.

If you are adamant about keeping your hair, you may want to talk to a HRS doctor as well. The cost of the surgery will probably be less than a lifetime of topicals, imo.

shedding

hey big v
got a question for you
i just recently purchased xandrox 15 and xandrox with retin A and a hairmax lasercomb
i was using minoxidil before that for about 18 months + 1/4 tab proscar and though it did help alot with the crown at the beginning i saw nothing at the front and it was still getting worse, so all it was doing was maintaing with very slight shedding in the shower, so i thought i'd jump to xandrox because you said that u seen results with it at the front.
im using xandrox 15 in the morning or when i get up, and xandrox with retin A at night, i also use the laser comb everyother day for 25 minutes focusing in the front. i shower with nizoral EOD and head & shoulders any other time i shower and use head & shoulders conditioner everyday and take 2 tabs (1mg)of dutasteride (generic avodart from Invalid Link Removed ) everyday.
question: how long did it take you to see the results after you switched to xandrox 15 and did you see a big shed when you first started coz i can see my hairline receeding and alot of shedding especially in shower ever since i started this xandrox stuff from dr lee.
sorry for the big post and thanks for your help....

Hi IZY,

I did see some shedding for about 3 weeks after starting the Xandrox 15, but noticed positive results about 2-3 weeks after that. 2mg of Dutasteride a day seems like a lot bro - that will suppress a lot of DHT. Perhaps too much, especially if you are training naturally.

Hey guys, been busier than hell lately with work and when not working I'm usually sleeping. :)

Anyways, I've been using Nizoral ED in shower and still using minox/aa from WHP going on 2 months now. I've responded well in the past to mino/aa but like said a few pages back I just quit using it...well, I went and got my haircut a few days ago and told my barber (he's a close friend of mine) what I've been using as far as hair treatments to help regrow some and he looked very close and said that I have a bunch of tiny baby hairs growing back in already. Remember as said earlier though that I had a scalp infection and that had a lot to do with my shedding. So that may be the reason for my faster than normal progress, dunno. Just looking in the mirror though, I can tell that my hair is prettty much back to normal already, just need all of the hairs to catch up to each other's length.
I'm still on test only cycle too, so when I come off I might switch to using it only once/day.

don't mean to get off-topic but, I took some pics with my camera phone to show you guys the progress but for some reason with this new phone I just got, it wants me to pay to send pics to an e-mail addy?? WTF?? I never had to pay data charges before with my other phones, this one wants me to actually set up an account before I can send e-mails... Is there any way around this??

Get the USB cable for your phone and upload them directly to your PC. Or if your phone has wi-fi, you may be able to connect that way. If it's storing pics to a removable flash or SD card, you can also stick that directly in a card reader, which if you dont have one are pretty inexpensive.

thx bro! I'll have to pick a usb cable up then, appreciatte it.

LOL...I typed 'superdrol' card:P I meant SD card...

The USB cable should do it lifted - try to get it online because the cell phone stores charge crazy prices for accessories.

lol @ BV...

I dropped my phone on the concrete today and it shattered. In the spirit of being so pissed, I picked it back up and and threw the remains against my shed. Broke even more...I just got this phone like 2 weeks ago too and w/o insurance. You know what? I'm about to say FVCK CELL PHONES ALTOGETHER!!! I'm still fuming over this crap...I can't stand people being able to get ahold of me 24/7 anyways. And if I don't answer or return their call they get upset??!! WTF!!?? I'm seriously about to throw at&t $175 for the cancellation fee and get a stupid little track phone and keep it in my car for any emergency... Do you all realize how much these cell phone companies made/making in just the last 10 years since everyone has one now?? My god man, it makes me sick, especially since they still try to fvck you over with the bill. Nah, that;s it, I'm done, I'm taking a stand against cell phones, the HELL with 'em!!

**sorry for the rant, but I feel a tad better now. :)

I have been using Finasteride for the past 5 months. Results were pretty good however the depression is starting to get to me. For those of you that don't know, there is postmarketing information that shows that patients using finasteride report higher levels of depression as compared to those that don't. There have been case studies as well as anecdotal feedback that support this. For me its just been a depressive feeling and lack of motivation that is just starting to get to me. I think coming off is the right move even though the drug has made a noticable impact on my hair loss.

Right now I am using Nioxin, Nizoral 2% (EOD), and the Lasercomb EOD. I am going to add on Emu oil and start using natural 5-AR-I's such as Saw Palmetto. Going to add on pyrithione zinc shampoo as well and alternate it with the Nioxin. Lets hope it helps!

Might as well throw in some minox/aa. Working great for me and is cheap.

I've given finasteride thought before, but even though the people that exp sides are a small fraction, it still scared me off from reading user reports. I honestly would still rather lose my hair than lose my sex drive, lose erections, etc... I wouldn't be able to live w/o sex!!!!

But it seems for the guys here that use it and dont exp sides, the benefits greatly outweigh the risks for them, so...I would just say (as others here have already said) to try out the topicals first, and then use finasteride as your last option.

Good luck with your endeavor:thumbsup:

I've experienced no negative sides with finesteride use...I consider myself lucky. I think that there are many individual reasons for a guy's MPB - some guys may have an excess of DHT. While others might have a normal level of DHT, but their follicular cells are overly sensitive to it.

It would make sense that a male with excess circulating DHT would see little to no sides from 5AR inhibition, while the latter would experience sides related to low levles of that specific androgen.

BV

i think you can stop hair loss if you get both your nut sacks removed, also you can go ahead and go kick your dad and grandfather in the balls.

i have the creeping widows peak, although it isn't bad by any means, i look at some of the male figures in the family and see what wonder are yet to come...

The sexual sides of the drug are far overstated. For people that do experience them, it something that majority of the time resolves within use. The depression/anxiety issue is something that has not been studied much in detail however it has been found that it spontaneously resolves upon cessation.

As for minoxidil/AA i am considering it but I have full frontal hairloss and minox is mostly effective against hairloss in the crown areas.

That's true - when used by itself. Combined with androgen blockers like Finesteride and Nizoral, Minox has been shown to be effective on the front of the scalp as well.

It has been for me - but I had to start using the 15% Xandrox before I started seeing noticeable regrowth...the hair on the front of my head is still thinner than the sides or that middle area betwee the crown and the front - but its much less noticeable than it was.

Finasteride efficaciousness has been shown w/ a dose as low as .2mg. I started on finasteride approx 2wks ago @ ~.125mg / day (1/8 tab). And gradually worked my way up to .25 (1/4 tab).

Can't say I have noticed much of anything as of this point, which I have to say is good b/c this includes bad sides.

Libido, erection quality staying strong, or so my hand tells me

Will have to give an update in a few months as to how it works out.

Man, that is one awesome word - effacaciousness! :D

Ive noticed that if I drop below 500ug a day, it seems to be less effective...I usually dose between 500ug-1mg a day, taking a few days off every few weeks or so.

I do notice that I seem to get a boost in ejaculate (sorry graphic!) volume a few days after discontinuing use, but it levels back to normal after a while. That the only side ive noticed, and its probably due to a spike in DHT when that 5AR gets freed up.

I noticed myself getting depressed, deeply so this weekend on fina, so I stopped for a few days. I was also doing 1 mg a day... maybe too much?

Well I have been on .5mg per day of Finasteride for about 18 months now. Yes for the first couple of months I experienced, libido loss, strength decrease at the gym and from time to time, mild depression.

Fast forward to Oct 2007, I am now stronger than ever before, and drug free (I stopped using steroids last year). While my morning wood is sparatic, my sex drive seems to be exactly as it was pre Fina and I no longer have any real depression...oh and my hair line is literally grew back 99.9%. I am seeing hair pop up so low on my forehead that was never even visible before, like litterally an inch below my hair line...crazy.

So start with a low doseage and give it a few months before you write it off.

Hi guys, I am preparing to do a deca and Test E cycle, however I also have some Propercia coming and am worried about combinig the deca and Propercia, can anyone put my mind at rest or offer any advise on this.
I find it so ironic that Deca, one of the best steroids for keeping your hair is dodgy when combined with soemthing to keep your hair!

i hope your right im doing .5mg for quite a while now (7months) and although not bald the hair line is not what it use to be

So I've been experiencing some increased shedding/thinning over the past month....it's either directly related to stress, or excess estrogen, as I'm going through a hormonal rebound to a previous superdrol cycle (and then a ATD cycle with Nolva after)...I'm hoping that its stress before DHT or estro, but I was wondering...

I've been using nizoral ED and it hasn't helped

If I were to use rogaine to help grow hair back...aside from the claims that the hair will once again fall out when I cease use. If it was stress related, and I grew the hair out until I got over this 'hump' wouldn't the hair stay?

Just for a little info, I'm 22 and MPB does not run in my family

I can't even style my hair right now...I put some pomade in my hair and my hand ends up with a good 8-10 hairs so I'm weary of messing with it

anabolicdog, what you heard is correct. The 5-AR chemical which converts from nandrolone, is very light on the hair... but if you block the 5-ar conversion (reduction) nandrolone is a much stronger androgen and is much harder on the hair, which is the complete opposite of test. Don't run propecia/proscar, etc, while on deca.

TOm, I have abnormally thick hair, even when it was shedding bad, so I found that using liquid minox w/ a dropper bottle worked best so I can reach the scalp more easier and waste less.

I lost allot of hair when taking ATD. Also loss of libido. I don't take it anymore.

Thanks Lifted, so what do people usually do, stop using the Propecia whilst on cycle, or just not use deca at all?

I'm sure everyone is different. I choose to not use deca at all, eq is a good alternative.
