  7. Nice 'buki.. that's a hell of a PR.

    parallel schmarallel..

Actually ...a person who's 5'9" has an easier time hitting parallel than a 6'3" person.. god damn it. I'll keep telling myself that.

I'm going to start using a wider stance to make it easier to hit parallel though.. along with a god damn box.

A source of inspiration as always my friend.

  8. Chin in, elbows down, drive those knees out, sit back into the hole. keep it tight.

    thats all

it will be easier to hit depth with driving knees out, sitting back between our legs. First motion is with the hips.

  9. Ubi..I'm sure you realize this now...but i don't think a lot of people realize how deep those squats really are compared to what most people THINK they are doing. you find there truly is a difference when your willing to step up and film the depth on your squats.

  15. Hey kabuki, I didn't get any more vids, but I squatted and deadlifted barefoot....helluva difference. DL'd 385 for 12 singles, def. 30-45 seconds (or less) between the start of each pull. (may have been 13 or 14, sorta lost count but at least 12). On a separate day, squatted barefoot, hit 275 for 12 (straight set) below parallel. First time in months that squatting this heavy didn't hurt my knee. Could it be the lack of shoes, or the Cissus (PAL incarnate)...who knows??? But you are the man fo sho!

    glad i can help.

Get some shoes ASAP for squating. you need the ankle support. chuck taylors work great, or a flat soled boot. Need to make sure the ankle is supported for heavy squats and ball of foot can't roll.

barefoot for deads rocks. gets you closer to ground as well

  18. Awesome workout tonight. Hit a couple all-time PR’s.

    BW upon waking 243.8

First up was incline bench, which is one of my worst pressing exercises (relatively speaking), and I wasn’t expecting much anyway as I did heavy dumbbell Military’s Thursday night (125x8). So needless to say I was quite pleased with an all-time PR.

Next up was benching with my shirt and this would be my first night doing a full bench in it in 1.5 years (last month I have been doing some 2&3 board presses in it getting used to feel of it again). My previous best was 605 after doing regular shirt work, so again quite pleased with the all time pr. The bench is a real slow decent which is not the norm for me but I wanted to be safe as it’s been a long time. Normally I drop it much quicker and get a bigger isometric reaction and a faster press than tonight, so both descent and press were both real slow.

    Incline Bench
    50x12
    140x6
    210x3
    230x3
    320x3
    360x3 [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsy4VoT8_20"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]
    390x2 [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdv2nPsDxNs"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]

    Bench (with shirt)
    520x1 off 3board
    590x1 off 2board
    620x1 off 1board [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0ZXwHVY36I"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]
    630x1 [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTjnQ2ESek4"]YouTube - Bench 630x1[/ame]

    Supra Press downs
    100x12
    125x12x12x12x12

And GFK thanks for the bench shirt vid…that helped greatly when working with guys that have never seen a shirt before and need to put on one you.

Quite Pleased! Esp after eating like crap and working in a hot attic sweating my ass off the whole weekend, doing remodel for the wife, (and yes Ubi I kept from falling through the ceiling again this weekend)

Impressive though. Looks like you could've gotten even more. That was raw, right?

Yeh it looked like you had a shirt on...couldnt tell. Sick incline though..

All your lifts are great man..."lift heavy, you'll get shorter" haha -- perfect.

I just got my log up...

  26. This is unusual but I got real pissed today.

Last minute (1 hour prior to workout) I found out none of my training partners would make it. Not happy one bit as I was supposed to suit up for squatting tonight. So I changed my plans to do my squat workout next week and Deadlift today. I was not entirely happy with this plan as I deadlifted heavy 5 days ago and I usually wait 14-21 days. But I figured since my new Okie bar was due to arrive today that would keep me motivated and lifting heavy.

Then I got tied up coaching some people about some stupid “he said, she said” crap for about 1.5 hours. So I got home at the time I normally start training, no training partner…and they didn’t make the damn delivery on my Okie dead bar!!!

Flat fuming PISSSED by this point!

I was worked up and ready to cut all my current partners from the training regimen.

The anger definetelty affected my lifts. I couldn’t focus, form sucked, couldn’t even pick between sumo or conventional on warming up and kept switching. I only got two good pulls (640 & 660) in after playing some mellow music and trying to get my head straight.

Then I put on my suit and missed every single attempt by shooting my legs to quick. I couldn’t lock it out at the top which makes not sense to me as this is not a weak point…must have been the heavy band resisted pulling on Friday. Needless to say this put me in an EVEN WORSE MOOD! I’m doing better raw than suited WTF. Maybe it was the mood not allowing me to concentrate enough and keep things dialed with suit on. Even so with where I had the bar there was no excuse.

Did I mention I was flat fuming pissed!

    This is all I Did.
Raw deads to 640 then 660
    690x3 misses
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo9wp4s5V8E"]YouTube - Deadlifting 7/18/07[/ame]

At this point I said workout over.

BW upon waking 241.0 (had a touch of squirts last night so I was dehydrated this morning)

Still need to decide what I’m going to do about training partners.
