    2-5-14 Squats

    Moderate weight squat day, with ok volume, pretty happy overall. Training with the team and coach this evening. Right off the bat my coach got my email and sent me a link to a bunch of instructional vids on warm ups and breathing for me to watch and implement. Was getting some awesome feedback on my squats, I kept it under 400 so I could work on neutral head position and keeping my lats flared really trying to bend the bar turned em on like a light switch. Lifting with everyone is great all the depth checks and people saying cues to remind you is so helpful. On one of the doubles after hearing "hips!" on a grinder I sped the 2nd rep way up. So happy to be lifting here with these guys, really motivating to train among elite athletes. I used and ran the monolift for the first time today, which was cool to learn. Awesome piece of equipment. I'm off to Las Vegas tomorrow until Sunday, so I will be a bit scarce just FYI.

    2-12 Squats

    Just a bunch of squats missed 425 the first time backed off, and started to get in the zone and nailed it. I attempted 455 twice, the first time I tried to unrack the bar was bending and knocked into one side of the part that holds the weight. Lost a bit of mojo there, reracked and took a little break. Missed it after that but didn't get stapled, was able to come out of the hole and sit there above parallel until I conceded to let it go to the safeties. Would have been a PR 1RM. Overall I'm pretty happy with today, it's probably one of the best squat days I've had since the meet. I was also able to employ a lot of what Chris has taught me. Elbows are pointed a lot further down these days, keeping my lats and back tight, neutral head position and really putting my air into my gut. I seriously can't wait to squat again.

    Loving singles these days on deads. It makes every rep just like I should do it on the platform. It provides opportunity to dial in my setup over and over and over. Broke the 505 off the floor, but didn't make it too much further. Just feels good to be getting back up to PR attempts and weights.

    Had the pleasure of benching with WR holder Adrian Larsen tonight. It was a great experience and I learned a lot. Really focusing on rotating the elbows out during lockout right now. But as far as weights and volume go, my bench feels like it's back on the move.

    Oh yeah I paid attention! Real cool guy too, I actually am going to a bench and deadlift seminar this weekend that him and another guy are putting on. Looking forward to that, and was able to get a bunch of condense samples for the event to boot.

    I really want to hit 500 before or at Worlds in November. Yeah I still train at EPC, but sometimes my GF and I train at 24 hour if we are going to miss the team session or are short on time. It saves us like an hour total time or a little more, going in to hit it at the real gym tomorrow morning.

    Still taking it easy on my left shoulder a little. It's getting better though, feels much more solid on bench than last week. Next meet is going to be the USPA Southwest Desert Classic Powerlifting Championship in Peoria, AZ. Jon Marshall from Unbreakable Gear has been kind enough to fly me down to represent with a bunch of other Unbreakable Powerlifting team members. It's also a charity fundraising event for the Az Hospice of the Valley.

    I'm just seeing super rapid squat progress right now. 2@425 was a PR a couple weeks ago now it's 4 sets. I won't question it, just gonna ride it out. Have to take a small training break this week cause I'm getting a wisdom tooth taken out, but it shouldn't set me back too much. Next squat workout I'm gonna load 425 again and try to take it somewhere past 6 sets of 2, after that I can move to 435.

    I benched a couple days ago up to a 3@245 and 2x2@255, then 4@225. Pretty weak benching lately, plan to increase frequency and get back to work on it. Just been busy squatting to find time for the other lifts haha.

    Wasn't expecting much from today, I've been sick the last couple days. My original goal was just to try and sweat out this cold. So I was kinda dicking around with my bench setup and tucked my feet back and kept them on toes. Ended up really getting some leg drive and hitting 225x8 for a PR tie. Excited to feel all the way better and try it with a real loaded bar. Squats tomorrow.

    Definitely still feeling the trail end of this cold. I suspected that I might not be fully prepared to go real heavy. Plus I was pretty confident that I could set a new 405 PR at 4 reps which was a success. Gonna just chill this weekend, keep pounding OJ, and smash the hell out of Monday, which will be Bench/Squat.

    Rough day in the gym, hadn't eaten anything and trained around 2:30 Pm. I was just kinda winded the whole time, and got a little light headed after some sets. I was sliding all over the ****ty bench trying to stay tight today too. The 425 double on squats was a serious grinder too. Just gonna chalk it up to a bad day and still coming off a cold that had me feeling under the weather all week. Deadlifts and pin press on Wednesday.

    Had exactly the workout I needed today. I deadlifted until both hands were bleeding, then I filled and covered the wounds with chalk until there was no red showing. Proceeded to hit a new deadlift PR, then I brushed off the bar, hit it with a clorox wipe and bounced. Good ass day in the gym.
