Chest fatigue

I feel like my chest fatigues REALLY quickly in the gym. I'll get 2-4 sets 8-12 reps of flat bench in (at 1/2-3/4 my 1rm) and I feel gassed. I can still get in flys and triceps so I get a decent pump but I feel like that's why I havnt made chest strength gains like the rest of my body...ideas? Tips?

That's quite a bit of reps for a work set, and 4 sets should gas you. If your goal is strength increase, why not do a 531 or its like?

Maybe I'm focusing too much on a pump..i do want mass, but strength as well

Typically, I like to do my warmups + work sets (3-5x3-5), and usually an AMRAP at the top to get volume in. I also like the pump, so you can always back the weight down and do some every-minute-on-the-minute sets or whatever to get the pump. I've read that it's not the 10-12 rep set people that are going to see the 3 and 4 plate presses.
