The Official "Other Companies That Have Had Contamination Issues" Contest

If anyone can recall them and post them in the thread, they can win up to $250 in FREE Taurus Supplements. Rules are: no rumors must either be admitted by the company or an action taken:

I think this contest should bring some sanity back to the situation...

    I will start things off:

Suspended Philadelphia Phillies reliever J.C. Romero sues supplement manufacturer - ESPN

"One should consider the source and the fact that the statement fails to address the presence of androstenedione, a controlled substance, in 6-OXO EXTREME," Cornwell wrote in a two-sentence e-mail to the Associated Press. "In my opinion, after injury and age, companies like Proviant may be the next greatest threat to the careers of athletes who use nutritional supplements."

I don't know 100% if this has been confirmed just alleged in this news story. I will do a FOIA request on Proviant and find out if indeed 6-OXO and 6-OXO Extreme was contaminated. Since the company was Chapter 7 a few years back, I doubt I can get a company rep to reply. If an above board company like Proviant who had their own manufacturing and testing facilities could have this happen it's obviously a problem that just happens from time to time.

Ok, Easy goes for EASY. Lol I can't wait to see how deep these will dig! I have some hints. PM me your address easy

What company allegedly had their "steroid spiked with a steroid" in 2005?

What company accidentally released 17aMethyl-HydroxyTestosterone and had to do a recall?

What company had a prescription drug in their product and had to "change the formula"?

My point is not to malign anyone just to show you that it's business, mistakes happen and Chinese suppliers often screw you.

IDS Sports Dietary Supplements - Recall
    Audience: Consumers

[Posted 11/17/2009] IDS Sports and FDA notified consumers that five of the IDS's dietary supplement products (Bromodrol, Dual Action Grow Tabs, Grow Tabs, Mass Tabs, and Ripped Tabs TR) contain the following undeclared substances, which FDA considers to be steroids: “Madol,” “Turinabol,” “Superdrol,” and/or “Androstenedione.”

Acute liver injury is known to be a possible harmful effect of using steroid-containing products. In addition, steroids may cause other serious long-term adverse health consequences in men, women, and children. These include shrinkage of the testes and male infertility, masculinization of women, breast enlargement in males, short stature in children, a higher predilection to misuse other drugs and alcohol, adverse effects on blood lipid levels, and increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and death.

The recalled products were distributed in either black boxes containing blister packs of 60 capsules or white bottles with black labels containing 30 or 60 capsules.

Customers who have any of the products in their possession should stop using them immediately and contact their physician if they have experienced any problems that may be related to using the products. Any adverse events that may be related to use should be reported to the FDA's MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program online [at www.fda.gov/MedWatch/report.htm1], by phone 1-800-332-1088, or by returning the postage-paid FDA form 3500 [which may be downloaded from the MedWatch "Download Forms2" page] by mail [to address on the pre-addressed form] or fax [1-800-FDA-0178].

Is this just for contaminants or for any mislabeling? Like the syntrax debacle on BB.com a few years back where instead of the claimed 24g of protein per serving tests came out at something like 15g. Beyond the contest aspect, it would be nice to have a single spot where people can look at and learn about all the varied things that happened.

A dietary supplement marketed to fitness and health enthusiasts on the Internet and in body-building shops contains anabolic steroids linked to two of the biggest doping scandals in sports history, including the renowned case involving East German Olympic athletes in the 1960s and '70s, according to a prominent researcher.

The supplement, which is sold under the name Halodrol-50, contains a steroid that closely resembles Oral-Turinabol, the principal steroid used to fuel East Germany's secret, systematic sports doping program, according to Don Catlin of the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory.

Catlin said it also contains DMT, or madol, a steroid federal authorities say was developed for Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative (BALCO), the California nutritional supplement company at the center of a scheme to provide prominent professional athletes with undetectable performance-enhancing drugs.

Catlin analyzed the makeup of Halodrol-50 for The Washington Post, which purchased the product on the Internet and reimbursed the Los Angeles researcher for the cost of the testing.

The discovery provides further evidence that the country's multimillion-dollar dietary supplements industry also has become a clearinghouse for the distribution of anabolic steroids, which help build muscle and speed recovery from strenuous exercise but also can cause serious health problems when used in excess.

Last month, Catlin tested five other dietary supplements obtained by The Post and found that each contained anabolic steroids, four of which had not been previously detected. The Food and Drug Administration announced after publication of The Post's story on Oct. 18 that it had opened an investigation into the four companies marketing them.

An FDA spokeswoman said yesterday that the investigation is continuing. The official declined further comment.

It is illegal to sell anabolic steroids or any unapproved drugs as dietary supplements.

Halodrol-50, which costs $50 to $80 for a bottle of 30 tablets, is marketed by Gaspari Nutrition, a dietary supplements company based in Neptune, N.J., that sells bodybuilding and weight-loss products. Halodrol-50 claims on its label to "induce maximal visible changes in size and strength in the shortest period of time possible." It also recommends that the product not be used by anyone under age 21.

The Halodrol-50 label further states that it contains polydehydrogenated, polyhydroxylated halomethetioallocholane. Catlin described that chemical descriptor as "hocus-pocus." He said the language was outdated and vague and appeared to be deliberately misleading. The label makes no mention of DMT or other anabolic steroids.

"It's obfuscation," Catlin said. "There is no attempt to be clear and concise and to describe the product for what it is."

Rich Gaspari, owner of Gaspari Nutrition, did not respond to two requests for an interview made by telephone to associates at his company. He also did not respond to two e-mail requests for comment.

    Peter Erlikh
    718-313-1579

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 25, 2010 - INZ DISTRIBUTORS INC./MAGIC POWER COFFEE INC. of Brooklyn, NY announced today that it is conducting a voluntary nationwide recall of the dietary supplement product sold under the name, Magic Power Coffee.

The Company has been informed by representatives of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that lab analysis of one lot of the product by the FDA found that the product contains undeclared hydroxythiohomosildenafil, similar in structure to Sildenafil, an FDA-approved drug used for the treatment of male Erectile Dysfunction (ED), making Magic Power Coffee an unapproved drug. The hydroxythiohomosildenafil drug ingredient is not listed on the product label.

Hydroxythiohomosildenafil may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs such as nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease often take nitrates.

Magic Power Coffee is distributed nationwide on Internet sites and online auctions by multiple independent distributors participating in an online multi-level marketing program. It is sold in a 2-serving box with UPC 718122686872 and a 12-serving carton containing six 2-serving boxes with UPC 718122686773. All production dates up until 05/08/2010 are being recalled.

To date, no illnesses have been reported to the company or the FDA in connection with this product.

Customers who have this product in their possession should stop using it immediately and contact their physician if they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking this product.

Consumers and health care professionals should report adverse events that may be related to the use of this product to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online at www.fda.gov/medwatch/report.htm, by phone at 1-800-FDA-1088 or by returning the postage-paid FDA form 3500 which may be downloaded from www.fda.gov/MedWatch/getforms.htm by mail to MedWatch, 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852-9787 or fax to 1-800-FDA-0178.

Consumers should return any unused product to the place of purchase for full refund or contact INZ Distributors Inc./Magic Power Coffee Inc. at (718) 313-1579, Monday – Friday, 10 am to 6 pm EDT, for further instructions.

Slim Xtreme Herbal Slimming Capsule: Undeclared Drug Ingredient

[UPDATED 05/26/2011] All lots of Slim Xtreme Herbal Slimming Capsule, 30 Capsules/Bottle, are being recalled. The products were sold and distributed nationwide via the internet and at the company’s headquarters in Hollywood, Florida.

    [Posted 05/11/2011]

    AUDIENCE: Consumer

ISSUE: FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that “Slim Xtreme Herbal Slimming Capsule” contains sibutramine. Sibutramine is a controlled substance that was withdrawn from the U.S. market in October 2010 for safety reasons. The product poses a threat to consumers because sibutramine is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients and may present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and stroke. This product may also interact in life threatening ways with other medications a consumer may be taking.

BACKGROUND: Slim Xtreme Herbal Slimming Capsule is marketed as a product for weight loss sold on various websites and distributed by Globe All Wellness.

RECOMMENDATION: Consumers should stop using this product immediately and throw it away. Consumers who have experienced any negative side effects should consult a health care professional as soon as possible.

    Interesting promotion by Taurus Nutrition.

What steps is Taurus taking to guarantee to US that their products aren't contaminated? Have you guys partnered with the Banned Substance Control Group (BSCG)? Any WNBF Approval on your products? Do you partner with Chromadex to verify the ingredients on your labels are what you say they are?

Not trying to start any drama, just curious. I figure if such a thread is going to be made, that Taurus is taking the necessary steps to ensure they don't wind up on a future list like this.

if you follow cGMP manufacturing processes, you pretty well are guaranteed the products arent contaminated based on the series of testing you have to do to comply.

Palo Alto Labs Issues a Voluntary Nationwide Recall of Aspire36 and Aspire Lite, two Products
    Marketed as Dietary Supplements

    Contact:
    Palo Alto Labs
    customerservice@paloaltolabs.c om

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Port St. Lucie, FL -- February 28, 2008- Palo Alto Labs, 265 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd., Suite 252, Port St. Lucie, FL 34984, announced today that it is conducting a voluntary nationwide recall of the company's supplement products sold under the name Aspire36 and Aspire Lite. Palo Alto Labs is conducting this recall after being informed by representatives of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that lab analysis by FDA of Aspire36 and Aspire Lite samples found that the products contained Aildenafil in trace amounts and Dimethyl sildenafil thione (sulfoaildenafil) a purported analog of Sildenafil, an FDA-approved drug used as treatment for male Erectile Dysfunction (ED). Sulfoaildenafil is close in structure to Sildenafil and is expected to possess a similar pharmacological and adverse event profile. This may pose a threat to consumers because the analogue may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs (such as nitroglycerin) and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates. ED is a common problem in men with these conditions, and consumers may seek these types of products to enhance sexual performance.

Aspire36 and Aspire Lite are sold nationwide. The products are sold as a blister pack containing one liquid capsule or a bottle containing either three (3) or twelve (12) liquid capsules.

Consumers who have Aspire36 and Aspire Lite in their possession should stop using them immediately. In the event of any adverse side effects due to the consumption of these products, consumers should contact a physician right away. Any adverse events that may be related to the use of these products should be reported to the FDA's MedWatch Program by phone at 1-800-FDA-1088 or by fax at 1-800-FDA-0178 or by mail at MedWatch, HF-2, FDA, 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852-9787.

The Company is advising consumers to return any unused Aspire36 and Aspire Lite, for a refund of the full purchase price, to the retail location from which it was purchased or to the Company directly if it was purchased from the Company as a part of its Direct Response Program. Consumers can call 1-(877)240-3340 for instructions on the return and refund process.

Palo Alto Labs conducts stringent quality control testing on both raw materials and finished products. Previous testing protocols did not include a test for the presence of Aildenafil or sulfoaildenafil but Palo Alto Labs assures consumers that this deficiency has been rectified. Palo Alto Labs apologizes for any inconvenience and expresses its concern for the health of consumers by conducting a voluntary recall action. Palo Alto Labs promises to ensure quality and integrity of all its products and the company is working closely with the FDA in the recall process.

FDA Warns Consumers About Tainted Weight Loss Pills

    http://www.recallowl.com/Food+Recall...ght+Loss+Pills

"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is alerting consumers nationwide not to purchase or consume more than 25 different products marketed for weight loss because they contain undeclared, active pharmaceutical ingredients that may put consumersí health at risk."

"An FDA analysis found that the undeclared active pharmaceutical ingredients in some of these products include sibutramine (a controlled substance), rimonabant (a drug not approved for marketing in the United States), phenytoin (an anti-seizure medication), and phenolphthalein (a solution used in chemical experiments and a suspected cancer causing agent). Some of the amounts of active pharmaceutical ingredients far exceeded the FDA-recommended levels, putting consumers' health at risk."

Controlled Diuretic found in StarCaps Lab weighloss product.

In both cases, the players appealed their suspensions to an arbitrator who ruled against them. In the N.F.L. case, the players association filed a lawsuit against the league last month on behalf of five of the six players, saying that league officials knew in 2006 that the over-the-counter weight-loss supplement the players in question had been using, StarCaps, contained a banned diuretic and could cause them to test positive.

In response, the N.F.L. said that it sent warnings to players in 2007 and 2008 about using weight-loss products, although the warnings did not specifically single out StarCaps. The league also added the distributor of StarCaps to a list of companies that players were prohibited from endorsing.
