Up the intensity a bit for the both of us (I'm slacking on my cardio), and .. damn .. there's a purpose for ya !

Keep it up bro ! (post was not meant in a negative manner in any way, btw)
I think I've just got too much real life ish going on right now. What to do after college (its my final semester), do I go MBA, try to find a career, or do something more marketable, apart from my degree. My girlfriend is expecting a proposal acutely post graduation. Can I afford to support her, a family with kids, she's Spanish and HUGE on lots of bambinos I need to find a place to intern in the next 2 weeks. I think in the midst of all this, I need working out to matter a lot more then my usual motivation for it; striving for physical excellence. That's always an innate drive, but I've got so much, in my face life ish decisions and concerns at this moment, that striving for physical excellence isn't shinning as bright as it did when i was much, MUCH more care free.

I'm sure it'll all workout, but the process between here and there is killing my focus in the gym.

I think for now at least, my mentally is much more focused on what I NEED TO DO, rather then what I WANT TO DO. Realistically, for my mental health, working out probably edges into the NEED category, but it's currently in the WANT category in the face of all my other immediate concerns.

I'll get my head back eventually. I'm doing my best to stay pumped, so I gotta do cheesy things like a "nothing less then 200" theme. Whatever it takes you know.

Just keep your head up bro! Everything is going to work out fine. Lifting isn't the most important thing in life and I know you realize that. It's ok to slip a little bit on trying to achieve physical excellence while you try to solidify your future. Keep truckin' brother!

Well, also there is no race to acheive the physical excellence you want in some certain time frame. So its not just about wants and needs, but also how those things fit in over the next X number of years. Trying to (other than the thought of being married the rest of your life to one person) plot out much beyond 5 years isn't very worthwhile as things chance too much in that span anyhow. well, the marriage and retirement, its worthwhile to always consider that and begin whatever minimal level of 401k/IRA contribution you can as early as you can.

Way ahead of ya. I invested $10,000 in long term stock awhile ago, (national & international stock investments), this will either go toward retirement, many decades down the line, or toward a first house, not too far into the future, but then the interest on my investment won't be that significant if I put it toward a house. Retirement, however, God willing I make it that far, my investment should be significant.

Well I appreciate the words guys. I haven't fallen off the workout wagon or anything, just not as intense as I'm accustomed to is all.

Solid bi's workout tonight, and I tried a new exercise that I think will become part of the regular arsenal.

Standing Db Hammer Curls
45lbs Db's x 15 reps
50lbs Db's x 12 reps
55lbs Db's x 8 reps (dramatic drop there )

Db Concentrated Curls
35lbs Db's x 15 reps
40lbs Db's x 12 reps
40lbs Db's x 10 reps

Hammer, Preacher Curl - Rope Grip
95lbs x 8 reps (too much, gotta drop the weight)
65lbs x 12 reps
65lbs x 12 reps
65lbs x 10 reps

Hammer, One Arm Preacher Curl
55lbs x 10 reps each arm
55lbs x 10 reps e.a.
55lbs x 10 reps e.a.

Machine, Reverse Preacher Curls
50lbs x 12 reps
60lbs x 12 reps
70lbs x 12 reps
80lbs x 12 reps

NEW EXERCISE (for me)
Standing, One Arm, Cable Reverse Curls
50lbs x 12 reps each arm
60lbs x 12 reps e.a.
70lbs x 12 reps e.a.
80lbs x 12 reps e.a.

If you haven't tried this one yet, TRY IT!!! It gives an unfamiliar and awesome pump from the forearms up through the bi's.

A little education

The Brachioradialis, I always talk about this muscle and perform workouts surrounding the emphasis of this muscle. Such as my forearm/bi's workout, where hammers and reverse curls are prioritized over supinated bicep curls. This is a brief, but effective explanation of my interest in this particular muscle.

The brachioradialis is the freakiest muscle on the forearm, bar none. It attaches on the humerus and is intimately close to the lower biceps on the lateral aspect arm. Consequently, if you study an athlete such as Kevin Levrone (and more recently, Phil Heath), you will notice that these muscles, when fully developed give the illusion that your biceps are lengthened. To put it a better way, it leaves no dead space laterally as the biceps taper into its tendon. It serves as the great connector between humeral and forelimb freak.

The brachioradialis originates on the supracondylar ridge of the humerus, travels all the way down the forearm, and inserts just proximal (above) the styloid process of the radius. Put your hand out in front of you with your palms facing downward. Do you see that bump all the way distal and lateral, near where you would wear a watch? That is the styloid process of the radius.

Actions - This muscle is an elbow flexor. However, studies also show it has supination as well as pronation actions. According to Basamajian and Delucia, it has the capability to supinate the forearm when it is already pronated, but can only do so to the neutral position. It can pronate the forearm to the neutral position when it is fully supinated.

When performing a hammer curl, you cannot help but notice the freaky area just under the elbow that spirals down the forearm. That is the pronator teres. It does much of what the brachioradialis does, in that it ties in the lower biceps with the forearm (which creates the illusion of greater biceps length and/or fills in gaps) and provides one of the freakiest forearm muscles known to man. It originates on the medial epicondyle (actually just above it) on the humerus, and inserts on the lateral aspect of the humerus, approximately half way down the shaft.

Lee Priest is another Forearm Wonder, but he's mostly developed in the Forearm Flexor(s), not so much the extensors & brachio's

Great pics, information and explanation. Brachioradialis sounds like a dinosaur
