Eating meat and insulin/glucometers

Does eating meat cause a high insulin spike like sugar and simple carbs? Read an article stating this, but it just doesn't sound right. How would diabetics manage and ketogenic diets work? Anybody experiment with this using glucometers?

No, meat does not cause an insulin spike. Insulin levels may rise moderately when consuming protein, but nothing to the extent of the spike caused by sugar. Care to share the article?

Ketosis can only be reached when insulin levels are very low in the body. Since you are not consuming carbs during a ketogenic diet, insulin levels fall and the body turns to ketosis to metabolize fat for fuel. Eating meat with a low carb diet will improve insulin sensitivity and keep blood glucose levels low, and meat will not interfere with ketosis unless you are consuming an excessive amount of protein to the point where your body begins to break down proteins for fuel (gluconeogenesis) instead of fat
