Hey, just wanted to say thanks to criticalbench, I gave this a try and it worked awesome! Thanks for the tip!
I am writing this because I secretly discovered a trick to making my hemavol
better, not that it isn't good enough, but because we are always looking for
something better! I know feel obligated to help others and expose my trick
that I have used prior to training, and prior to stepping on stage for a show;
a little more personally modified for the on stage application, but you get
the point.
INGREDIENTS
2 Scoops Protein
1 Tbsp Canolda Oil
5-10g Creatine Monohydrate
200mg R-ala (Can use ALA or NA-RALA depending on your preference)
1 Pack Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup (40g Carbs, 1g Sodium) with 2 cups water
2 Scoops or 10 tabs hemavol with 16oz water
20g sugar Candy (Sweet tarts, nerds, cotton candy, sour patches, etc)
HOW I DO IT
1 Hour Pre-Workout
-2 Scoops Protein Powder with 1tbsp Canola Oil
45 Minutes Pre-Workout
-200mg NA-Rala
30 Minutes Pre-Workout
-1 Packet Lipton soup with 2 cups water
-2 Scoops hemavol with 16oz water
-5-10 (I use 10) grams of creatine mono mixed with hemavol
5 minutes Pre-Workout
-20g sugar from Candy (I use sweet tarts, a handful of em or cotton candy.
My training partner uses nerds, just any pure sugar, no fat candy)
No science backing this, just personal experience. The sodium in the soup
with the 10g of creatine mono and hemavol with 32oz of water total really
helps bring out the fullness and vascularity by way of water retention
and with the carbohydrate supersaturation with the R-ala. R-ala is also known
to make creatine monohydrate work much better. The rush from the sugar I feel
brings out the pop in the veins. The rest brings the fullness, but the end
with sugars brings the pop IMO. To me, this is a cheap addition that makes
pre-workout with out without hemavol a hell of a lot better. I have
personally been doing this for a year now since discovering it, used it
pre-contest for the 2011 NPC Pittsburgh Championships and had an explosion of
veins in my body. I notice a drastic difference from when I use this, to when
I don't. Many times I use it without hemavol and it is good, but with
hemavol, it is CRAZY!
You can manipulation the protein/fat intake however you want, that is what I
choose pre-workout as it sits with me best. I have a stomach disorder that
allows food to sit and pool in my stomach for much longer than the average
person, so whole foods just sit there and will make me feel sick during a
workout.
I apologize in advance if you try this and it doesn't work. We are all
different, what works for me may not work for you. I am just sharing this
because this has been one of the greatest discoveries for me since I started
bodybuilding.
****NO CLUE WHY M COMPUTER TYPED IT WITHOUT IT GOING ACROSS THE WHOLE LINE!?![/QUOTE]
Couple Questions:
-How much water is in this total between the protein powder, hemavol, and the water for the soup/and you don't feel like the extra water affects subQ water for competitions? Or do you plan it into to your total water intake for contest day?
-Would any carb intake suffice to be substituted for the soup to go along with the salt? Say 40g of carbs worth of white potatoes along with the gram of salt?
Thanks for sharing a very unique and promising trick!

Are you trying to use this for pre-contest? If so, I change a few things. I really don't drink any extra water besides 12oz right when I wake up. Between the protein, soup, hemavol, i get enough water I think. No issues with water retention.

Yes, going to try for a contest in June. I have one this weekend, but no hemavol to work with and I haven't given it a test run so I can't do it 100%, but I'm going to try and work it in in some capacity tomorrow. Going to try it w: 200mg na-r-ala & 5g creatine 45 mins prior; .5g sodium, 2g agmatine, 50ml veg glycerin, 4oz red wine, 8oz water 30 mins prior (typically do the red wine/glycerin anyways); 20g sugar (nerds) 5 minutes prior. Thoughts?
But that's maybe 48oz water total for the way you normally do it for prejudging (16oz each for hemavol, protein, & soup)?

Doing this for pre-judging is hard, and honestly you have to play it by ear. You don't want to drink more, if you are already full. You may need to drink more, or eat more salt, if you are still flat. I don't know how you load, so it is hard to say.
Are you a **** loaded, a slow loaded? Do you salt load?
I would avoid glycerin if using hemavol.. I would not do both. 500mg of salt, is very very low. For a show, I use 2+ grams min. R-ala, if you are eating carbs with it as i am sure you are, I'd bump the dose to 400-500mg. Pre judging is a whole different story than pre-workout.
