yes; lose fat add muscle. Other than that adding strength can be as simple as improving your form or technique. Don't be afraid to workout to add strength, its not like your gonna jump 20 lbs or even 10lbs in a month. Hell not even 2 months. Where are you trying to add strength?

His idea of maintenance calories may include his activity level. Like he went online and did that B.S. calorie requirement calculator that asks your daily activity level. But yeah your right.

It can be done buts its very hard to do. Its a fine balance of calories and exercise that your just gonna have to toy with. I cant really help you cuz i bulk and cut separately, i have no experience with re-comping.

That's not going to happen. You may maintain all of your muscle, but adding some isn't going to happen. Depending on how much fat you plan on dropping, you may lose strength simply due to lowered leverages.
I agree a little with what everyone's said. Eat high and clean calories and you'll see progress. It you want to lose fat and gain muscle as well as have enough energy to fight you're going to have to eat above maintenance if you want to perform at your best. The only thing that sucks is you're going to have to eat AT LEAST 90% clean calories in order to achieve this. Gains will come slow.
