Moving there for the summer and I'll be mainly living alone in bum**** nowhere, but I'll have the weekends off so I plan on fully exploring what the state has the offer. If you live there I've got some questions!

NO . live outside Memphis. Went to spring river one time in college. You can rent kyaks and just float around and drink. There should be tons of @zz there on memorial day weekend.

Nice, I'll definitely put that on the list. Really most excited about all the hiking opportunities up there. Don't have much hiking here in south LA.

Check out NW Arkansas/Missouri if you get a chance (Eureka Spring/Tablerock lake area) If you do any swimming/scuba diving/hiking etc great places. If you have a sports car of motorcycle there are some GREAT roads around that area also

*Note, I don't condone being stupid on the roads...but damn is it fun!!!!

Bro, why are you going to St Charles? Casinos in west Helena are close but that's about it. You will be in duck hunting country. Maybe some BBQ joints but that's about it.

I currently live in Newport, about an hour and a half north of little rock, but I'm about to move to Jonesboro. I can personally tell you there's nothing to do that doesn't require drinking or driving a truck. I moved here when I was a kid from Michigan and I'll tell you I've never met a bigger bunch of ignorant hicks. It'll grow on you though. I honestly don't feel at home in big cities anymore.

What is your job? Bar scene in Little Rock is where it at but probably one and a half hour drive. Plan on a hotel downtown and pick up a chick for an all night workout. Arkansas is called the natural state for a reason and many times the hicks are all natural but the state is beautiful and it's home.

Taking field measurements/collecting data for the USGS (United States Geological Survey). I'm heading out there tomorrow for a night or two to scope things out and figure out what I need to bring. It'll be a good experience for my career but I'm already looking forward to being back home at the end of the summer lol.

I figured I would have to do the hotel thing the times I planned on checking out the cities but that's no biggie. Already do that sometimes when going to Houston for concerts.

I'll also be bringing my truck up there so I shouldn't have trouble accessing some of the more rugged terrain.

Arkansas can be very slow but that may be good in your line of work. Much slower pace where you are heading but that can be a good thing.

Well, Arkansas certainly is a beautiful state. And I'm staying in a brand new house so I'm pretty happy about that.

Only thing that sucks is the gym situation...the closest thing to a regular gym that I've found thus far is a community college in DeWitt, but it sucks. Not a lot of weights or equipment. I'm waiting on them to get back to me to see if I'm allowed to bring a trap bar. I'm kinda worried about losing size over the summer. Gonna have to up my BCAA's for sure. :/ How the hell do you not have a decent gym within a 50 mile radius? I didn't see one person who looked like they worked out the entire time I was there. Either skinny or overweight.

Not everyone's life revolves around working out. Maybe some people work out at home. I'm not sure your assessment of the state holds any validity at this point though. Not trying to be rude, just objective.

Cool story bro, nor was I. Of course my assessment of Arkansas doesn't hold any validity I haven't even spent a whole 48 hours there yet.

Funny you mention hillbillies. I've lived in almost every Southern state, some multiple times, and the closest accents in terms of the stereotypes you see in movies are in Alabama and they don't hold a candle to the accents in Arkansas lol. But just like everywhere in the South, the people are incredibly nice and welcoming.

Very true and white people from Texas and Louisiana are rednecks... There is a distinction! Hillbillies are from wv. Too! Just think it's funny how Yankees don't know the difference and just call everyone from the south hillbillies!

That is true. I work with a guy who no s*** wears camo house slippers with his suit every year at our sales convention. And I don't think he owns a shirt without a deer or bass on it somewhere. But dude is like 6'5 country strong purest redneck on earth so nobody says sh** to him. This dude makes anyone who don't him extremely nervous, he is a redneck.

Where you are going there are no hills, so couldn't be hillbillies, but I'm sure you could find a coon supper somewhere. Yeah I'm not joking... Also about the gym in your area thing.. When there are only 17 people within a 40 mile radius, there will be no gyms... Door pullup bar, pushups, crunches, and standing calve raises for a few months.
