I plan on doing the same, as well with Snickerdoodle, after I try FCC solo.
I just finished my SD tub so I can't try that mix apparently. Oh well...until next time. 4 tubs of FCC will probably last forever.

I believe the insider was crazy huge, orders are slowing shipping out.

I've had a few ask to get tracking numbers for them. Once I send the email, not 20 minutes later, they say they got their tracking number via email, lol.

Glad things are moving along though :)
Geeze, re!ax people....you'll get your stuff. Sounds like people have a supp addiction worse than crack. I haven't received tracking info and I'm fine......but I am drinking a barrel aged stout so o feel great

PES Frosted Chocolate Cupcake Review

Taste

Frosted Chocolate Cupcake
PES took what was a middle of the road chocolate flavor and improved it. A company that prides itself on taking consumer feedback and creating what the fans want. The chocolate is much richer, denser, and full of milk chocolate flavor. You get a sense of a 70% milk chocolate and 30% dark chocolate aftertaste. The combination of the chocolate flavors really helps enhance the overall flavoring of the base flavor. Then you get the luscious aftertaste of buttercream chocolate. Hence the name “Frosted” chocolate cupcake. Think about going to a bakery and getting a delicious cupcake. Not only do you get the great cupcake base but also the delicious frosting flavor combined together. For those who are chocolate fans you will be very happy with the upgraded flavor if you decide to pick it up. Take two elements that compliment each other and PES delivers it in a protein powder.

Mixability

For those who have had PES Select they know it mixes with ease. Even as a blend the protein powder has no problems or leaves no clumps. I prefer the thicker protein shakes or protein pudding. I found that Frosted Chocolate Cupcake is like Chocolate Peanut Butter cup, does not mix as thick as some of the other flavors (SD, CnC, Vanilla). Nonetheless thicker than generic whey protein powders which is an added bonus.

The Shake I made below was 6oz of cashew milk, 1.5 Scoops Select Frosted Chocolate Cupcake and 7 ice cubes.

Formula

1.5g Fat
1g Carb
24g Protein

A very macro friendly protein powder. With the price point it makes it easy to fit in on a daily basis compared to others who may exceed 150-180 kcals per serving. The blend of protein included in Select combine to form a thicker protein powder. For those who like a much thicker protein powder this is right up your alley. I personally enjoy it because I make a lot of protein pudding and enjoy baking. Both which come out perfectly with 0 issues. I wish more companies would create blends that match their label 100% even when tested by stack3d came back above what the label claims.

Cost

Can’t beat 20$ a tub on the insider deal. Other retailers have the 55 Serving around 1$/lb and the 2lb tub around 30$. So if you missed out on the insider at the special price I feel bad for you. A very cost effective and tasty protein. PES is one of the most cost effective options on the market. Makes it very good for an everyday use protein. Not to mention it's a blend so it does mix thicker for those who enjoy thick protein pudding or protein shakes, and it bakes flawlessly.

I would still rank vanilla and snickerdoodle better than Chocolate Cupcake. Its good, and its an improvement, but its still not the best flavor to my taste buds by PES IMO. I found it to be on the thinner side like Chocolate PB Cup . Vanilla, Blondie, SD, and CNC seem to mix thicker.

For those who frequently bake using protein powder, do you still include flour as the main ingredient or you use protein powder to replace it?

Depends on the recipe but generally flour stays in unless you're aiming at keto.

You should be able to safely sub 1/3-1/2 the flour for whey (same volume replaced) and then adjust for consistency differences to suit the recipe.
It will rise less as well, extra so if you omit sugars (which you automatically can for the sweetness of the whey)

Whey rises most, casein least

The more you replace the more "rubbery" it can become, even faster when also using eggs as a binder in the recipe.
Offset that with alternate texture. Blend in something fibrous for a double-win. Chia, flax, psyllium.

To increase the rise, be sure to have enough of a sweetener that feeds rising (Splenda, sugar)
And some baking powder. You can add baking soda and some citrus for even more.

If you aren't worried about a "rise" and just want more finished product volume you can fold in stiffened eggwhites as Bob does.
He has shown this on his YouTube a few times iirc

Using protein powder to replace flour would cause a very dry final product. Flour, Complete pancake mix, bisquick, pancake mix etc is used to help products rise and give you that cake like texture. Great example. Make protein pancakes and use just whey,
then make protein pancakes and add whey + Flour/Pancake mix, and then give yourself an ample wet/dry ratio, that will really ensure a major difference.

For example

Without Flour/pancake mix:

With:

A couple tricks if you are looking to make a superior product:
- Folding in egg whites to keep kcals down and not using whole eggs and give you a lot of rise out of your product for less kcals.
- SF/FF Pudding mix, even though its a few carbs makes the final product come out much denser in flavor and texture
- Using Yogurt, banana's, and applesauce as fat replacements (oil/butter) to help kcals lower.

should be some good tips.

Yogurt works the easiest IMO, bananas should be very well mashed if you want to add consistent moistness.

I love pumpkin puree in chocolate/cinnamon recipes. Applesauce as he said, but really any pureed fruit or veggie is a great substitution

Pumpkin puree would make for a nice addition. Never thought of that one. Never thought of using applesauce either. Good ideas here.

Let me throw this review in the mix from another forum.

PES Select - Frosted Chocolate Cupcake just came in the mail today and to say it tastes great is a massive understatement.

Can something top snickerdoodle? I think this just did. I don't think I've ever chugged protein this fast because it tasted so good. Great job PES.

Taste: 11/10
Mixability: 10/10
Macros: 10/10 (as always)

I had this simply with water and it was awesome, can't wait to try in milk, hell, maybe maybe make some protein-milk for cereal...the options are limitless.

:D

Here's to more great flavors to come!

FCC is good. Does taste like a Frosted Chocolate Cupcake. If I could offer 1 suggestion: If there is anyway to bump up the frosting flavor a smidge, I'd like to see that. I expected a little bit more of the frosting to come through. But it's good, yup. Did 8oz of Ice water, and 2 scoops with 1/2 cup water for pudding.

Got three Alphamine sample packets too. Tastes good (Rasberry). But 4-6oz of water per serving?????? That won't compete with a 12-16oz Monster. You should add more flavoring so it tastes "on" with 12-16oz of water. It's too watered down other wise. I wanted to try it Intra, so I dumped two packets into a 20oz shaker cup.

What the best PES cupcake/muffin recipe??
The term best is subjective because you could add so many toppings and fixings for a recipe

What are you looking for unfrosted ?
Frosted?
Filled?
Basic?
I have about 12 recipes on my YouTube (bkupniewski) for cupcake recipes and about 200 other recipes you can make with protein powder

I'm confident I can find a tweak so you get more frosting taste, it is probably achievable by adding 1/4 scoop of Vanilla + a pinch of stevia to suit your taste preferences.

Or next time give it a go in a milk

For Alphamine,
Double scoop in 12oz. To solve that latter issue, I'd strongly suggest trying out CC which holds up in more extra water IMO.

Iced Tea isn't my style but I imagine it would be refreshing in 12oz. + for tea fans

Good basic recipe

60g complete pancake mix or 1.5 servings
1 scoop whey
1 serving SF FF pudding mix (8g)
Dash Splenda (3G)
Dash baking powder (2g)
You can even add a serving of cocoa powder for extra chocolate flavor (10g)

Wet:
1 egg
3oz yogurt (50g) or applesauce as a fat replacement( can even do 50g mashed banana) for a chocolate banana base
Dash vanilla extract
Splash of almond milk (10g)

Mix and bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and boom done deal

Frosting is easy
75-100g yogurt
1/2 scoop whey
Serving SF FF pudding mix is a good base recipe

Then you can add cocoa , cinnamon ,
PB Lean whatever and frost away . Mix it up
Let it sit in fridge and thicken up and let the cupcakes cool before applying

Double scoop in 12oz. To solve that latter issue, I'd strongly suggest trying out CC which holds up in more extra water IMO.

Iced Tea isn't my style but I imagine it would be refreshing in 12oz. + for tea fans

Hahaha! Thanks D :D But I didn't want to do extra work, or spend more money (double scoop) ;)

Shipped fedex? They are the worst for international customers. My latest PES order was sent with fedex, ended up with $90 in customs and taxes fees.
Wow!! As the customer are we obliged to pay the fees, what would happen if I refused?! I'm assuming I wouldn't get a refund for an undelivered order?

I have spoken to customs, wasn't sure who to call...FedEx directly or somewhere else :/

Good basic recipe
im going to check out your youtube, so perhaps ill get my answer there. but i just got some pure stevia extract, no fillers. hows that in comparison to splenda (i notice you mostly use that so presumably prefer it), any draw backs or anything to keep in mind when using stevia instead (given that i already bought it).?

Stevia doesn't aid rising, Splenda does (and does so notably faster than sugar)

Aside from that no issue.

Splenda is a 1:1 sub for sugar
Stevia can be closer to 1:20 depending on your tastebuds
