Ok here is my rant about volume training.
I believe it to be superior to strength training for the purposes of building mass. In general, volume shouldnt be measured by sets and reps, but rather the TYPE of intensity experiences. To me, volume is about focus and TUT.
"Symptoms" of volume training:
Hard breathing
Intense burning sensation during and shortly after each set
Pumps that are nearly debilitating, especially when on gear
Profuse sweating is common in some
So much lactic acid that nauseous feelings come and go
Zapped, euphoric feeling about 20 - 45 minutes after last set
Volume can be done with almost any rep scheme, depending on ur tempo. Generally speaking, it requires less weight, impeccable form & targeted training. When I lift volume style, all I focus on is "feeling" the stress and burn in the desired muscle. When I strength train, I think "Form! Heave! Form! Heave!"
