that was some poetic beauty right there
Thanks buddy. That's the best way I could describe it. It's a pleasant feeling. Contrarily, my stim break was pretty long and I realized about 4 hours after taking it that I'm real fukkin stim sensitive right now.
....I know not of this feeling you speak of.....
Shave your ass and drive around with the windows down. You'll know.
You have some seriously impressive goals, but I am sure you will achieve them. That pizza looked fuggin amazing!!!! Now I need to go to a REAL pizzeria and get some gourmet pizza not the run of the mill crap the kids eat all the time.
There's a reason for the goals to be so lofty. So, during the course, there were a couple of dudes that were on a different level. One guy had tried out for the Olympic rowing team in London and the other was an ex NFL running back. Talk about genetically superior. The rower dude was incredibly gifted. Anyone who can run a 22-24 miler with 60+ lbs on his back in under 4 hours is on a different level. Granted, he's 6'5" and has legs for days but there's no reason why I can't shoot for his times. So I will. I finished that movement in 5 hours, there's room for improvement and I ran about 18 miles of it and walked the rest at a brisk pace.

Went to doc yesterday to get left shoulder checked out. Sprained AC joint or something like that. Happened in July during last softball game. Still nagging. Can't do any lateral raises, upright rows or anything that brings upper arm to shoulder level. Presses are fine and kb swings were kinda bugging but powered through them. Body is still tired. Hoping to pick things up in the volume and intensity departments next week. Just getting warmed up for now.

Upright rows and lateral raises suck anyways. Overhead pressing and rear delt movements and you're set. That still sucks though dude. What PF said as well, DeFranco Simple 6. It's just a real quick upper warmup. Also Donnie Thompson has a lot of good videos on shoulder health/mobility.

Will look that up tonight. Thanks in advance holmes.

Oh, I don't do upright rows, just trying to accurately describe what motions cause pain/discomfort. Lat raises on the other hand have always been a staple, as I really enjoy the burn from activities like six-ways. I'll look up Donnie Thompson as well. Eric Cressey also has some good stuff on YouTube. Thanks dude.
Found this and I'm in
Welcome, bud. Just getting started and recovering at the same time, so it may be a little boring for a bit.

Ahhh I gotcha. That sucks dude. I actually went out to Cressy Performance the other week and had a movement assessment by Tony Gentilcore and he gave me a couple mobility exercises for my crap shoulders. Could look him up too.

sheesh all you guys knocking upright rows..
I mean I don't do them regularly or anything, but I kinda like them, will toss them in every so often

I really enjoy six-ways.
holy wow dude -- and here I've never experienced anything more than 3-ways mostly, a 4-way once or twice....

I'm not knocking upright rows, but when not performed correctly, they can cause more damage than good. I think there are alternate exercises that offer more bennies and lower risk.
Six ways are fun, but not what you're thinking.

No, 2:04. Better luck next time.
I'm sure he did. This guy is something else.
False. I used to be someone, now I'm just someone else.
I know. He's a machine. If he got a little stronger I'd recommend X-Fit games. His endurance/lactic acid threshold is ridiculous.
Even with as much anti-xfit sentiment as there is, I still find myself watching the games. It's fun to watch and it really does intrigue me. Truth is, those guys are animals and if anything reflects the the level of conditioning I wish to obtain, on a mainstream level, it's that. The downfall is the fact that it costs $150 a month to belong to any decent xfit gym and that's a lot of money. Thanks for the compliments JB.

Thought of you this weekend para :) Went to KC for a concert where there was plenty of bodies slamming and jumping around. Afterwards my wife's legs were so shot she could barely walk... so I RUCKED UP and hauled her on my back! It was not an easy haul with a 5'9 120lb chica strapped to my back and at an incline no less. Nothing close to what you've done but I thought of you nonetheless!

And this is why you're a man. I would have done the same, as it's the right thing to do. Or maybe I would have laid her on my North Face jacket and dragged her.

I'm just gonna stop worrying about it and muscle through. Doc says it never really heals, it just feels better over time. That tells me to stop crying.
something just very wrong and awkward about that

Ok, plans changed. So JB mentioned participating in the xfit games. I checked out this local gym and they offered a free session. Since free is the best price, I obliged.

WOD, or whatever you call it...
200m run/10 pull-ups/15 thrusters @95lbs (15 minute AMRAP)
Completed 4 rounds and was 7 thrusters shy of completing the fifth.
To be completely honest, this workout was fun, the environment was laid back and friendly and most of all, it was challenging. The gym is offering a very good deal for a month of membership so I may give this crossfit thing a try for that amount of time and see how I like or don't like it and go from there. Either way, I'll learn oly lifts (something I've been wanting to learn for a while now) and get a different take on things. I think a month is a fair amount of time to paint an accurate picture.

I agree that we are all in it for the same reasons (protectin 'merica), but the chances of you seeing 50 AF dudes rucking in the desert are pretty slim.
Although that shlt ain't fun, at all, it's a necessary evil.

Its soooo expensive though. I have a few good friends that participate, and one that reebok pays, but its just so damn expensive. Like 150-200 a month over here. I could have my reg gym membership plus a membership to Jackson's MMA or UFC Gym or Albuquerque Kickboxing and still save 50-100 a month compared to the xfit gyms up in hur. WODS you can do on your own and in a regular well stocked gym...

So long as the gym is legit and they are more worried about making sure form is somewhat adhered to that sounds awesome. For the type of strength and functionality you are looking for that is a legit option for certain. Those guys are pretty amazing, the ones that are serious and good at it that is.

There was for us.

12 miles, 35# (+rifle), under 3 hours was the EIB standard. Idk when you got out, but there is definitely a time standard now.

The red and green one. This isn't the German marksmanship badge, it is different. Not quite sure.
It requires some PT, nothing crazy. Then some random soldier skills, and some shooting. Kind of like EIB. But looks a little easier.

Pt is : sprints, pullups, and a 1000m run.
Swim test, NBC, first aid, pistol shoot, and road march

Let me know if you can't see this pic

no worries. There's gotta be a time limit though or all of the mounted guys would have it.
Oh you Army gays and your badges just for tying your shoes...
Scott, you know my feelings on scary guy badges. I see a problem both ways though. The bullshlt "I'm a marine" response when you ask someone what they do is old. Good job bro, you passed your MEPS physical and scored above a 30 on the ASVAB, now what have you DONE? Since you guys generally don't wear anything on your utilities, it's hard to tell who's who (with the exception of those pretty gold jump wings). I normally don't wear anything on my daily driver uniforms, but when I choose to, you can see that I'm somewhat seasoned and didn't spend the last decade getting my stories from CNN. The downside to badges is that people chase the badge rather than cherishing the skills that came with it.

I'd do it for the experience. Looks easy and fun.
