AgeForce is knocking me the f*** out with the Melatonin Patch

AgeForce has given me the opportunity to log their Melatonin Patch. Thanks, Mattrag! I'm starting this log before I even get it in the mail so that people will get a better idea of my current sleeping problems and have something to better compare it to.

https://ageforce.com/supplements/melatonin

What I like about this is the time-release of the melatonin. I've tried oral melatonin before and while it may help a bit once it kicks in, I still constantly wake up at various times throughout the night. And the added GABA is promising to help me relax and fall asleep quickly.

A little background on my current sleeping habits.

I have problems not only falling asleep, but also staying asleep. I wake up constantly, every couple of hours during the night, tossing and turning. I'm tired all day long (doing the little head bob at my cubicle fighting to stay awake, crossing lines on the highway because I'm falling asleep at the wheel) because I can't get a solid night sleep. I've tried 3z, melatonin tabs, benadryl, and ZMA to help me sleep, all with varying degrees of success.

This problem of not being able to get a solid night's sleep has been going on for years, and in that time I've tried lots of things to change diet, before bed habits, varying size and softness of mattresses, sleeping with a partner and sleeping alone. At one point, I thought it may be contributed to the fact that I workout after I get home from work, since I'm taking a stimmed pre-workout at 5:00pm and trying to get to bed between 9 and 10pm, but then I realized I have the same problem on nights I don't workout and weekends when I workout earlier in the day.

I have school on Monday and Wednesday night. So my current workout schedule is:
Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, every other Friday (I get my daughter every other weekend), and most Saturdays (usually while my daughter is napping on the weekends I have her). So, about 4-5 days a week.

Current 1 rep max lifts:
These were all done this past week.
I know the lighting isn't good on these vids. I'll work on that.

Bench: 300 lbs

Squat: 415 lbs

Deadlift: 465 lbs

I'm sure I could lift more if I were working on my own natural energy aided by a pre-workout rather than solely relying on a pre-workout to get me through it. I take no other stims throughout the day, it's not something I want to rely on to function. On days I don't workout, I don't take stims at all, and I do take regular breaks every couple of months to reset my stim tolerance. My stim tolerance is pretty low right now, it doesn't take much at all to have me wired. What a wonder it would be to feel a stim effect on top of a natural, energetic high. That's what I'm looking for out of this.

Saturday night (1/28):
Last night, I went to bed at 11:30pm (had homework to do). I tossed around for a bit and finally fell asleep. I woke up no fewer than 3 times before my alarm went off at 8am. I was so groggy, I hit the snooze alarm three times before I got out of bed. That's usually how my morning goes. It didn't always used to be that way. I'd like to get back to waking up feeling refreshed and jumping out of bed. This is particularly a problem during the week when I need to be getting up to go to work. I'm on salary, so I don't have to be at work to punch a clock at a certain time, but I'm rarely on time.

Once again, a big thank you to AgeForce and Mattrag for this opportunity. I'm watching the mailbox with excited anticipation!

In for this. It sounds like you just have an all-around stressful life with work, school, and a kid. I hope this product proves to be helpful for you. I will be watching, as I too will be logging the Melatonin Patch.

Yea, that's my living room.

It's a Powertec rack with the cable tower, bench, with preacher pad and leg curl attachments, i have two straight bars, one ez-curl bar, two olympic dumbbell handles, four standard dumbbell handles, a couple of attachment for the cable tower, 600lbs of olympic weights, and about a hundred pounds of standard weights for the dumbbells. Just about everything I need. Paid $300 for the rack, cable tower, bench and accessories. That's a $1200 set for just the rack and tower new. I love craigslist.

Subbed..Good luck and I look forward to your results. One thing I will be watching for sure is to see if you get that hangover feelinmg and headaches in the morning. I know that is what some of the side effects were for me with various types of Melatonin products I used in the past. I always slept good but a lot of the time was still tired the next day and had a massive headache..Again, good luck..SJ

I've experienced that hangover feeling as well, though AgeForce has apparently fixed that with the transdermal system making it so that you don't have to wait hours for your body to start making use of it.

So, Sunday night was horrible getting to sleep. Tossed and turned for more than an hour, then when I finally got to sleep, my dad pocket dialed me at midnight! Argh! Was quite rough getting out of bed at 5:30am. Well, that's when my alarm went off. I think I finally dragged myself out of bed at about 6:05am. I didn't feel awake for a couple hours after I got to work, then by the time 2pm rolled around, I was dragging, and struggling to stay awake during a meeting.

Monday night was alright. I got to bed a little later because of night classes, but I fell asleep fairly quickly. Woke up twice during the night.

I know I flip around a lot while I'm sleeping. I may need to setup a video camera to see what's really going on. It's a truly unrestful sleep.

Note: This is still pre-patch.

Tuesday night, Jan 31
Went to the gym to workout with a friend over lunch. Was so tired by the evening, I thought for sure I'd get a good night's rest. Went to bed at 9pm and fell promptly asleep. Woke up at 11:20pm wide-eyed, tossed and turned forever trying to go back to sleep. If I get this patch and it keeps me asleep for at least 6 hours, it'll be a miracle.

Wednesday night, Feb 1
Went to bed later because of classes. Slept like crap. Woke up twice during the night. Horrible time getting out of bed. Got to work later than I like.

Thursday night, Feb 2.
Got to bed at 10pm. Slept straight through the night (weird). Still had trouble getting out of bed this morning.

Friday daytime, Feb 3
10:30am, falling asleep at my desk.

Been hitting the gym this week on a 7 day pass with a friend from work. He's been working me like crazy. Going to hit legs in about an hour. Obviously tired, will be hitting the gym solely on the fumes of my chosen pre-workout.

Monday night, Feb 6th:

I arrived home from a long day of work and college classes at about 9pm. I checked the mail and was excited to see that the AgeForce Melatonin patches had arrived!

In the packet was 30 patches, an instruction card, an info sheet, and a personal welcome letter (that was a nice touch).

After reading through all the information, I decided to place the patch on my inner wrist as that was the least hairy spot on me out of the suggested places on the card.

Patch went on at 9:15pm

I then proceeded to eat my steak dinner, put my stuff away, and get ready for bed. It's now 9:55pm and I'm off to bed.

Subbed for this, sounds like you have insomnia man. I had it for about 5 years finally started getting good sleep when the doc hit me with a TCA. I'm interested in this patch.

Good luck, and sweet dreams haha

Nice!
Sweet dreams!

If you want to experiment with places to put them, a lot of people including myself have found that the top of the foot on a bare spot does the trick, and has the least chance of coming off partially during sleep.

Hope this stuff does the trick for you.

Results of last night's sleep:

As stated in the previous post, I went to bed at about 10pm. I fell asleep pretty quickly without tossing and turning which was good. I did wake up 4 times during the night though. I awoke at 11:40pm, 1:15am, 3:35am, and 5am. My alarm went off at 5:30am, and I struggled with getting out of bed for a bit. No real change to report yet.

The patch stayed on my wrist just fine all night. I'll try it on top of my foot tonight.

You ever look into possibly having sleep apnea?

I agree, might be apnea since you are going to sleep, just waking up a lot. I have insomnia and the problem is getting to sleep or when I awake there is no chance of going back to sleep.

I have the same problem, I'm an extremely heavy sleeper, nothing really wakes me up as far as sound or moving. But, I will still wake up throughout the night. Looking to see what this patch does, if anything!

You could experiement with not eating just before bed, as in stop eating at least three hours before bed time, and four is better. IF people do this all the time. The worst is eating carbs before sleep, but even eating meat gives a huge insulin surge, and digestion slows way down while sleeping, and you lose almost all of your natural HGH as insulin surges block it'[s release. Eating carbs before bed will hold extra fat and make you groggy in morning, and the slow digestion of meat creates it's own problems. Both create a large insulin surge with the lack of HGH for recovery and fat loss during the night.

Most of what you said has been discredited for a long time.

My dinner is a steak and a salad every night. Occassionally I'll throw in a couple eggs if I'm lacking protein for the day. I don't generally eat a lot of carbs anyways because I feel I may have a wheat allergy. I get most of my carbs from fruits and vegetables, and I have some jasmine rice early in the day.

The time in which I eat before bed changes with my schedule. On Monday and Wednesday, I have no choice as I have classes after work and don't get home til late. And it makes no difference on something like a Saturday night when I'm prone to staying up later and had dinner several hours earlier.

Tuesday, Feb 7:

Today wasn't bad. No real extra energy. Lull in the afternoon had me falling asleep at my desk and microsleeping on my drive home.

I didn't workout tonight. Had some homework to finish up for tomorrow. (really, I was just feeling lazy and sore all over from being beat up all last week). So no workout means no caffeine today. I'm having my usual second wind though and feeling not tired at all right now. I slapped the patch on the top of my foot at about 8:45pm. 9:30pm and I'm headed for the bed!

Whatever, on diet and eating habits you can find "science" to back any position that makes you comfortable with what you are currently doing. If the melatonin patch doesn't work for you, try the PowerPatch and expect great results from the HGH for sleep, as that's what you actually need. I'm outta here.

Wednesday Morning report, Feb 8:

I passed out quick last night, and even though I still woke up a couple times during the night, I felt a lot better this morning. I didn't have my usual morning grogginess and I felt energetic enough to get out of bed before hitting my snooze alarm the usual 2-3 times. Perhaps it won't correct all of my sleeping problems if I do in fact have sleep apnea, but maybe it'll make the times inbetween me waking up actually more restful.

Only two nights so far. Still reserving judgement for later. But this morning was good. :)

Thursday, Feb 9th:

I made it through most of the day yesterday without any tiredness. Started having a few lulls (one at about 10:45am, the second at 4:15pm) but quickly snapped out of them.

Last night, I got home from class and put the patch on top of my left foot (was right foot last night) at about 9pm. I then proceeded about my business of eating, prepping my stuff for the next day, and getting ready for bed. I finally got in bed about 10:30pm. I noticed as I was visiting the bathroom to empty my bladder for the last time before bed, that I felt a weird sensation kindof like I could instantly pass out while standing there. Must've been the patch forcing me to sleep, because I'm normally a night person and I get a second wind near bedtime. I passed out quick and easy. I woke up a few times throughout the night (as is usual for me). This morning was horrible getting out of bed. My alarm was going off and I was just ignoring it. I let it run for half an hour before I finally got up.

I'll say one thing I've definitely noticed since taking this patch. Falling asleep initially is a lot easier. I'm not tossing and turning for half an hour or more trying to get comfortable.

Friday, Feb 10th:

I slept over at my girlfriend's house last night. Normally it's even worse sleeping there because she likes a hard bed, so it's like sleeping on the floor. I put the patch on just before 10pm and we were ready to sleep around 10:30pm. I feel asleep nice and quickly.

She got a little frisky around 1am and attempted to wake me up. I was dead asleep. It took her awhile to wake me up, but the way she does it, I don't mind if she does it for awhile. ;)

Slept real well last night. No trouble getting up this morning, then again, she doesn't let me lay around in bed either.

Sunday, Feb 12th:

I put the patch on top of my right foot last night about 9:40pm. At 10pm I was down in bed. That didn't really leave a whole lot of time for it to kick in before I went to bed, and it was evident because I didn't immediately fall asleep like the previous nights. When I did fall asleep, I felt I slept a bit better and had no trouble at all waking up this morning.

Monday, Feb 13:

So, weekends spent chasing my four year old daughter around usually end up with me taking a nap on Sunday afternoon when she does. That's not the way it went yesterday. We both had energy, so we went outside and worked on my motorcycle a bit. Well, I worked on it. She just watched and ran around in circles. Rest of the day was pretty smooth sailing.

I put the patch on last night at about 9:10pm, then sat down to do my practice test and study for Trigonometry while I waited for it to kick in. I hit the bed at 10:20pm and was quite ready for it. I fell asleep quickly and slept fairly well through the night, only waking up once or twice.

Woke up this morning to snow on the ground and a two hour commute. Ugh! Halfway through February and we finally get our first snowfall.

Great day.

Well, I can happily report that I went the entire work day without any kind of morning, afternoon, or evening lull in energy. No head-bobbing at my desk, no drifting asleep at the wheel. I briefly got to yawning a little bit during my English class, but it's boring, so that's to be expected. :p

It's after 9:30pm and I'm still not showing any signs of slowing down. I do hope that wears off soon, since I'll be going to bed. I got home from school and put the patch on at 9pm, so I should be feeling it soon.

Wednesday, Feb 15:

Well yesterday was another day of good energy. Not quite as wired as the day before, but still good (For those keeping track, that's three days in a row. Certainly an anomaly for me.). Workout was a solid chest workout with a bit of arms thrown in to assess my bicep injury tolerance.

Put the patch on last night at 10pm, fooled around with the girlfriend for a bit, then went to sleep. I had a horrible night sleeping. I was waking up more than usual. Several times I woke up laying weird on my arm and it would be all numb and stuff. I can't get comfortable in her rock hard bed.

Got class tonight, and back in my nice soft bed!
