Yeah, a multi could cover a lot of bases. I guess about 5-6 years ago, my routine bloodwork kept coming out real high for iron, so I quit taking a multi because they usually have about 18-25mg, a sizable amount. My iron went down so I never started taking a multi again. I had to pick up the slack with everything separate, so that added an extra 7+ pills a day.

Tea is a strong anti-ox, with lots of health benefits, but I'm reading too much crap about it lowering LH levels and stuff. I take it but not as much as most users do, just a pinch. I take a few high ORAC herb and berry extracts, plus extra Vit.C and extra Vit.E EOD, a few others at times. Now it looks like I'm gonna have to give this menaquinone-7 a try, the one allstar mentioned. :D

I'm always refining my system to try and consolidate my supp regimen, but it's kinda my job though Oz, to take vitamins all the time. I'm constantly alpha testing something, ya know?

Hey Doc, I say A) If you can afford it and B) you understand it, do it!!
Strategic's post is completely unintelligble to me. Thats not a dig at you Strat, just saying it shows the depth of my knowledge on this.....Not very deep at all!:scratchchin:

Let's try the following:

Vitamin K has two broad forms, K1 and K2. K1 is the standard form, whereas K2 is the more advanced form. Vitamin K2 is also referred to as menaquinones. The two main forms of K2 (menaquinones) are menaquinone-2 and menaquinone-7. As it turns out, menaquinones are known to be significantly more potent than standard K1. In particular, menaquinones are up to ten times better absorbed than K1, last considerably longer in our system (up to 72 hours, compared to about 8 hours for K1), and are consequently dramatically more bioactive.
In a properly functioning metabolic environment, only minuscule amounts of calcium should be in the blood stream, because calcium should preferably be bound to bones. If, due to some dysfunction, calcium begins to circulate in our blood, this eventually leads to the accumulation of layers of calcium deposits in the arterial walls, a process known as calcification. Furthermore, if calcium circulates in the blood, and does not sufficiently bind to bones, bone structure and density are compromised (weakened). Osteoporosis may develop as a consequence. These outcomes also suggest that calcium-regulating proteins do not function properly. In any case, the calcification deprives the arteries of their flexibility and elasticity, such that a variety of cardiovascular conditions, including high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, and so on may develop, not to mention the likelihood of osteroporosis. But because menaquinones are particularly effective at directing calcium from the blood to the bones, and because Vitamin K is necessary for the proper functioning of calcium-regulating proteins, a sufficient intake of vitamin K, especially the more biocative forms, menaquinones, may eventually eliminate circulating blood calcium, direct this calcium to bones, and support the proper functioning of calcium-regulating proteins. This will improve cardiovascular functioning as well as bone health.

I hope this is clearer.

By the way, for the purposes of completeness, the tocopherols I mentioned earlier certainly include the other forms such as gamma and delta. Similarly, the tocotrienols should include the entire complex: alpha, beta, gamma, and delta tocotrienols.

Looks interesting yes, I'll follow along with some of the logs. I feel I have a lot of this covered with AP and pslin but will be interesting to see how it compares, and how synergistic the ingredients are.

I know, right. Ain't it awful? ;)

But hey, you gotta know what you're talking about right. If you have no personal experience with a supp, why should anybody listen to you? I agree 100%.

I commend you Steve, for going the extra mile! :p Maybe you could make an inventory of every supp at NP, then start scratching them off the list til you reach the end, lol. That would make a cool thread, Steve's supp marathon!

I switch around with Centrum Silver, it's not just for 'older folks'. It's solid becaue it contains no iron. This was recommended to me awhile ago.

Thanks, Andy! I just googled it. That is a pretty solid looking formula, not too much copper either and some good trace minerals as well.

(I'm older than you actually, lol, and I do have about a dozen silvers showing) :)

That's funny, I've got some silvers too, but I shave my head, so they disappear. My wife tried to make fun of me when I came home with the Centrum Silvers, and I told her old frail people can't bench 325 so step off.:bandit:

I hear that! I also say to my wife, 'Look woman, it's obviously these crazy kids of yours that gave me silvers in my hair, it just creates the illusion that I'm older, lol.'

I got some of that. It's a good one too. The only thing I don't like is the Saw Palmetto in it. I've used Adam and never noticed any problems though, so it's probably not enough SP to hurt anything.
To hurt as in interfere with?

This was heavily discussed re: Saw Palmetto and The One being not great playmates just recently as I recall :)

We will keep you guys updated about Glycobol + the special at NP. Look for a thread at a planet near you soon :D
Yeah, it seems that with many compounds the effect isn't so significant (this could be a Type I vs Type II androgen thing), but with The ONE it is.

I tried to use 640-960mg of a 90% stdz extract one time, and my nips definitely started to get sore after about a week. Not cool. I rechallenged it again another time after that at 320mg, and it seemed to take the bang outta my wang, if you know what I might be sayin. F that man, I gotta run my house propa. :) I take nettle extract and b-sitos (MFX) to cover my prostate health, and it has just the opposite effect. ;)

"I gotta run my house propa" was good! :biglaugh:
640mg daily was certainly on the high side, in the absence of BPH. 320mg daily of Saw Palmetto standardized to about 85% (=272mg) free fatty acids and sterols should be fine for most users. Beta sitosterols (from Pygeum), like Saw Palmetto, are 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, and so are complementary to Saw Palmetto. Boron (3mg daily) is another compound that supports prostate health. From time to time, I use Saw Plametto, Pygeum (beta sitosterols), Boron, and an antioxidant (to modulate inflammatory conditions in the prostate gland), together for prostate health support.

Not per say, but it's got some high potency anti-oxidants in it for sure, plus the improvement in lipids and lower blood glucose can't hurt at all. High glucose levels are the real culprit in diabetes related disease. Refined sugar might be the number 1 killer in America, but of course you'll never see candy being banned from 8 year olds. They'd form a military style special interest lobby and invade Washington! j/k

So yeah, it should definitely be "healthy" in general, healing and extending.

Agreed. The sterols don't seem to bother me, I figured it was the fatty acids. I have had buddies who took Propecia 5mg for 6 months straight, didn't phase their libido in the slightest they said, made there personality more mellow too. I guess I need all the DHT I can get though. You know Strat, I gotta take care of beez-wax with the ladies (well, technically just the lady, singular.) ;) And I use 3mg of Boron 2-3x/wk also, so I feel ya on that one.

That's happened to me before too! All the Stability and QC analysts went out to eat lunch together one day, and this relatively new guy saw me take out my lunch time vitamins (probably 20-25 various caps and tablets) and take 'em all with just a swig of tea. He freaked out big time! He said 'Man, why did you do that, just relax it's gonna be ok, I'll go get help for you!' Everybody else knew I took a handful of vitamins at lunch, but it was very hard to convince him that I was going to be ok. He didn't see how anybody could take so many colorful caps and still survive, even if they were just vitamins, lol. That was a classic. So I can relate, Sinon. :)

I have similar things when i take my pak, flex, and uniliver at the same time...

especially when i'm at work...I'll pop a total of maybe 100 caps during the day of assorted vitamins...the other day my boss took me back in his office and proceeded to give me a talk about steroids :18:

so the next day i packed up every supplement bottle i had, unloaded them all on my desk, and took each one as it was time...:burnout:

LOL, that's too funny! Oh man, I can visualize that scene, natty. :)

I guess if somebody that wasn't into vitamins saw that, it would seem strange. Like you, I pointed out what each vitamin was to anybody who asked like my boss, or my friends. By the time I had explained things to most people, I didn't look like a pill freak anymore, they were feeling dump for not taking them too this whole time! I've been popping a handful of vitamins since I was 22, wish I would have started earlier. It's like health insurance the way I see it, actually one step ahead of insurance. More like prevention. ;)
