Why steroids are dangerous

Stupid people are not ruining anything in the supplement industry. It is the supplement themselves. You all blame people for not doing their research, but the supplement industry is very shady on what they actually sell to their customers. Who really knows anymore what is put on shelves.

My one local supplement store sells a product which is advertised as natural. It has no major ingredients but a "properietary blend", and the product can't be found anywhere online (trust me, Ive looked). Its tren.

Or any other supplement for example. Go into a Lean Nutrition, and you'll see T-Roid by Hardcore Formulations. The product says nothing on it except "Get Hard Lean Muscle." meanwhile it should say ANABOLIC STEROID, that way its customers are informed properly. Then this **** wouldn't happen and we wouldn't need to blame "the idiots who don't research"

I could be wrong. But I believe there is a side to every story. And I believe alot of the problems in the supplement industry are directly on the shoulders of the supplement companies themselves.

I agree with you that there are some shady companies out there that just put proprietary blend on the ingredients and then just say "it'll make you Hugez". But why would you take something like that? That's just plain laziness , looking for a shortcut, stupidity, etc... The majority of people that work out don't know about these kinds of products unless they frequent bb forums or until they make the news, for being questionable or whatever. And then that's when the majority of these "idiots" try them and f*ck themselves up b/c "it must be good stuff or they wouldn't be making it illegal".
So it's your right to blame the supplement industry for not doing everything but swallowing the pills for you. However I would never put anything into my body without doing some kind of basic research on the stuff. Even if it came from a Doctor as a script. There could be a host of side-effects that the doctor doesn't know about or forgot to tell you. And I would like to know if one of the sides was extreme bowel discharge. :dump:But that's me.

I have to totally agree with this. It's easy for those of us who have done their research to blame those who haven't, but you have to assign some responsibility to the retailers AND to the supplement manufacturers.

I am an attorney, and though I don't practice in product liability, I am frequently shocked when I see the way some of the products are packaged and marketed. Look at all the warnings that are on the side of a bottle of ADVIL, and compare that to what you see on most prohormone/designer steroid bottles. Some companies are better than others, but Havoc is particularly bad in this regard. I don't have my bottle in front of me at the moment, but it basically says "STRENGTH - MUSCULARITY - LIBIDO" and talks about how the ingredients have been used "safely in Japan for decades," and has some generic warning about keeping it out of the hands of children, and don't use if you have high blood pressure or other illnesses, etc. That's the same basic warning you'd see on jar of creatine or other benign supplement.

What is someone supposed to think after reading that label -- assuming they have no prior knowledge of steroids? You would think that it's f'ing GOOD for you. You would think that it's some kind of alternative supplement that those super healthy Japanese people use, and you would take "2 to 3 capsules daily as a dietary supplement" like the label says, MONTH AFTER MONTH.

Seriously, is this at all defensible? And people wonder why everything keeps getting banned? The 14 year old kid above was lucky that an AM member stopped by his house that day or God knows what kind of harm he would have suffered. If MY kid came home from the "vitamin store" with something like that, my very non-lawyerly instinct would be to drive over there and shove the bottle down the throat of the SOB that sold it to him. But most parents will call the media or their congressman, and next thing you know there's a ban, and the rest of us and the industry suffer because some greedy companies were eager to make a buck at the expense of the health of uninformed people.

I know that most of the people on this board are responsible decent folks. If YOU were in charge of package design for a supplement company, wouldn't you at least put in big red letters "NOT FOR SALE TO PERSONS UNDER 21" on it? And add a whole bunch of use guidelines and warnings and at least MENTION PCT? Yes, you might lose some customers, but it would be the right thing to do AND better for your company in the long run.

Sorry for the rant, but this has been on my mind for a while now and when I hear stories like those mentioned above it just gets to me!
:damnit1:
Good points here...

I agree with many points but in the end, the reason why they don't put certain things on the bottle is because it raises a red flag. They cannot legally say "steroid" they can say "steroid like gains". If they say steroid then they are selling an actual prescription drug over the counter and you being an attorney can understand the repercussions behind that. On nutraplanet, they mention everything about the product and pct being needed...i've only seen a few companies mention cycle off for 4-6 or 8 weeks but never pct. The whole PCT wording would raise flags as well. They do list the nomenclature (some do some hide it) but unless you are willing and skeptical then you probably will not further dig...

Since I was 8 years old, my mother would slap me blind if she seen me raise anything to my mouth that didn't look legit. I used to try and sneak into the medicine cabinet and to this day i can't understand how I still have eye sight with all the slaps i received to the face...this alone taught me never to stick anything in my mouth unless i tried to find out what it was first.

Why on earth would I want ragnarok? The "muscle techs" of the world would survive but these "good bro" companies would disappear in one year's time easily.

And we should give a **** why?

Like I said it's about value for money and safety. Bear in mind that people will still take things like protein, stims, creatine... It's only the PH market that would suffer and the PH market is being legislated out of existence anyway.

I completely agree. I didn't even know anything about PH/DS until I came to these forums at age 23. The only thing I ever heard was back when I was in high school there were some muscled up kids taking "andro". I never tried it though because everyone said they would make you act like a girl and cause your nuts to shrink lol.

Well there is the area between creatine and PHs now. All of these companies are coming out with "natural" anabolics. There are actually some decent products out now going by the reviews. I believe these companies would also suffer if steroids were made legal; companies such as LG.

Sorry for the double post. But you probably saved that kid years of hardship and possibly even his life. Let him be pissed. Wisdom is wasted on the young, its not until he is older that he will look back and realize you technically are to thank for all his progress...or he will get some more from somewhere and ruin himself anyways.

Its goes - youth is wasted on the young.... not wisdom just for clarification:trout:

There are kids in this world. There are idiots in this world.

And because of that, I believe that you shouldn't be able to find anabolics on any shelf. As much as I love to use them, I truly believe that Pro Hormones and Anabolic Steroids should be accessible only through prescriptions. Because as long as they are on the shelves, uninformed and uneducated people (including the idiots & the youth) are going to be buying because some sales rep recommended it.

I did a thread not long ago about a bro called "total abuse",the same kind of thing as this one.

Everyone starts off as ignorant, but with some intelligence and common sense they apply them selves and learn, they hopefully learn to do things properly. Some unfortunately haven`t a clue about most things and get into trouble.

Sellers can only do so much to help their buyers make informed decisions.I still believe that however much information and help is provided you will still get those who abuse and those that are, quite frankly,of little intelligence.

It`s a damn shame!

I disagree.
Very rarely will you find a seller who cares about anything more then SELLING their product.

It's a business. People want to sell their products. Most sellers are not going to talk a potential customer out of a sale because they're too young. Rarely will a seller scare their customers by telling them that the product can potentially cause them to lose their hair or get gyno.

Do you think that the salesmen at a HUMMER dealership are warning their customers that their vehicles are fking up the environment by being gas guzzlers? No. They couldn't give a sh!t.

Sellers do NOT care about your informed decision. They care about selling.

If a guy that is smaller than you can out lift you wouldn't it make you feel weak and embarrassed.

No. What would make me feel weak and embarassed would be caring about it to such a degree that it would make me feel weak and embarassed.

If a guy thats smaller than you can fly an airplane better than you, does it make you feel weak and embarassed? No? Why? Because you dont care.

i've felt this way at certain times. Just ban all of them and then go through doctors to get AAS. But first of all there will always be a black market. If idiots or kids want AAS they can get them just as easy as off the shelf at the local GNC. This is just like saying ban alcohol b/c some people drank themselves to death or died from alcohol poisoning. And it could be applied to any drug out there. Prohibition is not the answer, education is.
Maybe sales reps don't care about anything other than making a sale. The ones i've seen around care enough to say wait until 21 and also use PCT. There's no one answer to this but i definitely don't believe taking away access of these products from the majority of people b/c some people can't take responsibility for what they put into there bodies is going to help.

That comment was directed at someone who said all they cared about was getting huge. I said that it is feminine to lift just so that you look good. Sure it's fine if that is a main focus of your training but you should at least care somewhat about developing strength.

The airplane comment was a horrible comparison. Here's a better comparison; you have two guys who are basketball players, one is 6' 5" and the other is 5' 9". Both of them are training their leg muscles for the upcoming basketball season. The short guy trains for explosion and strength and is rewarded with more muscle definition and a higher vertical leap. The tall guy trains solely for looks and all he gets is more muscle mass and definition. Trust me it would be an embarrassing situation if the 5' 9" guy could dunk and the 6' 5" guy couldn't.

Really though, it's illegal to sell a drug as a supplement otc. So regardless if we have Eistein running cycles or some jack off running around poking his diaack in an oulet, it's still illegal. This is the real point of concentration.

Reguardless of weather OTC roids aren't on shelves anymore uneducated morons willl still take them if they want to. They will still gain acess to them even
though there illegal. How many kids use other drugs In this country despite commercials and constant frowning upon? Alot.

I've always and always will train for strength. I have an admiration for those that train for bb but I have never been interested in that portion of the field for personal gain.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I admire bodybuilders as well. Even though they don't train for strength now, i'm sure most would say that a strong base is needed before a person trains for size.

that fckin sucks man...unfortunately i go to a university and have the "pleasure" of hearing even more idiotic sht from people both younger and older than myself...

Weeks ago I posted about some kid who ran superdrol for about a year straight, though he assured me it was "just pre-workout" as if that made things better.
Somethings not right here. Either you're lying or the kid has a super liver. He would turn yellow in 2 months without liver care.

Im in my lower twentys now (prefer not to state my age for safety reasons...FBI...not pedophiles lmao) but anyway, my dad gave me "Test Stack" when I was 12... Good times, lmfao. Sometimes I attribute it to my extremely deep voice... who knows...

What are you, 12? Your profile says 25 yet your psychosocial development says highly insecure pre-teen. You do realize your perception of that being feminine is because of personal insecurities over your own social status right? Your own self-sense of your manhood is based upon a series of irrelevant attributes that television and magazines have imprinted into the core of your psyche as being what defines you as a "man".

Id bet money you also think crying makes you weak, that treating a girl well makes you a ***got, and that loving your mother makes you a baby.

If you really believe that makes someone feminine, then you really need to grow up, your 25, its not high school anymore.

You're a highly sensitive person. Why would you be so offended by my comment? I'm simply saying that there is more to lifting than just looks; I personally just like to be in shape and feel strong. I like to look good too, but I just don't want that to be the only reason why I workout.

My girlfriend could care less how much I bench, but she likes the fact that I look good. Stength should be your personal reference point but not bragging rights. I hear some people say bro I bench 350 man... Who cares if you look like **** you have impeessed nobody but yourself.

That's true. Funny thing is, even though I'm saying strength should be very important, I can bench no where near 350 yet, and I don't necessarily want to. I just want my strength to match my size.

Anyways, sorry the thread got so off topic guys.

I agree to the extent that what makes a 'strong' guy/girl is a function of weight moves relative to their size. A 13 year old kid who weighs 120lbs benching 200lbs is far more impressive than a 220lb guy benching 200lbs.

I wouldn't say training for mass rather than strength is 'feminine' though. It's a question of what sort of body image you're after and what suits your frame.

Freedom. Something I would never want to take away from anyone. However, people after just money are screwing all of us up. You can't sell to kids to make a buck! Its not just guys slinging juice but the magazines(freedom of press) advertising this that and the other without the need for pct. Kids have great test levels and just need workout and guidance to start with. I think a person needs a good long lifting education before starting to juice. When I was 12 I wanted to be like Lou or Arnold, I'm glad some idoit didn't give me any gear back then and I would love to smash on guy selling stuff to some young teen. Its these guys that are making it hard on resposible bodybuilders.

I probably overstated my opinion in the sense that I used the word feminine as well as lumped people who just want to look good together with people who are obsessed. In better words, IMO vanity should not be the only drive behind someone who works out; if it is, then that's fine but I personally don't prefer it.

If I could think of one thing to say which could apply to this thread so that this conversation was not totally useless, I would say that many of these kids buy these prohormones because they feel like they need to be big, or look good. When I was in highschool I rarely knew someone who wanted to use steroids to truely increase their athletic potential; it was usually about looks. I just wish that kids could learn that fitness and lifestyle is more than just looks. I knew alot of guys in highschool who were not naturally big but were still athletic and strong, yet they were not happy with themselves.

I have nothing against PH/DS and I have taken them myself. I do however wish kids did not feel the need to use them.
