Who here carry's a concealed handgun and if so what do you carry?

Bought my pistol today; tax returns came in!!! hehe

I didn't BUY it yet; but i put it on Layaway for 30 days and paid 75% of the price on it.

Its a brand new recently produced (less problems) Taurus PT145 Millenium edition... stainless steel... and I got the guy at the shop to toss in an extra magazine... ended up costing a hair over $400 after tax. This was a brand new beautiful condition gun. Oh and its the .45 ACP caliber :)

they had brand new Taurus 607 revolvers (the 7 shot 357) in 4" and 6" barrels for $350 but i needed something smaller and concealable...
my next gun will DEF be a big 357... there's something nice and grand about a big polished revolver like that :)

nice... I notice you said you got them to throw in an extra clip. Can you negotiate at most gun shops?

Yup; MSRP on my gun was $500 :) Gun shows are easier to haggle at I've heard; but this was easy enough. And these shops work off recommendations... I have a good experience there so I continue to buy everything there; and when a friend wants advice on who to purchase from I take them in and introduce them. Real nice atmosphere; i was pleasantly suprised

For those of you w/ children... what measures do you take to make sure the kids don't get ahold of it? If it was me, I'd probably get a safe and store it in there...

When you buya gun new you get a box to store it in... Its very hard plastic and mine happens to have loops to add a beefy lock

Now at the same time, you have a weapon partially for for self defense. If a man was in your home, would you be able to get to your gun in time?

My gun is only locked up when I leave it a home and I am not there(very rare). Otherwise, despite the media's propaganda, it's really not that hard to keep a gun safe from little hands.

NO you would likely not get to it in time.

a shotgun mounted really high behind the door helps the home defense situation.

btw, i just got a new holster from the local flea market, its nylon and very soft inside, has a button strap to go over the gun; has an extra magazine slot in the front... and its very easy to conceal, its a IWB type where it has a big metal clip that goes over the belt or just the pants with a J hook on the end to keep it from moving up when you draw...
and it goes way down in the pants... with a shirt over it, its very easy to conceal (especially in the small of my back)

For home defense, Shotguns are the best hands down. Pistols should be used secondarily to shotguns in home defense situations. Shotguns are also pretty inexpensive.

yup; and having it mounted high up keeps little hands from getting to it

I live in Maryland, so no concealed carry license unless you have signatures from at least 3 felons affirming that they have a vendetta against you, and you can prove that they wouldn't be satisfied with just robbing and beating you. Almost.

But I can't wait for the OICW, if it's not fielded by 2007 I might re-enlist just to get a chance to use it.
