Want to Try TRT; Necessary Bloodwork?

Dear Anti-Aging Forum,

I am almost 42 years old. I feel like my energy is waning.

I have not pinpointed the cause, as it has happened the last year.

1. I want to get my bloodwork checked. I am not saying I have a testosterone problem, but I could check.

2. What specific things should I test for?

  • Total Testosterone
  • Free T
  • SHBG

Please tell me everything, so I can request it

Get a baseline CBC/hematocrit, blood pressure, lipids, and a proper hormone panel a good clinician should also review sleep apnea risk fertility plans and your medical history before prescribing anything

Total T, free T, SHBG, CBC, CMP. I'd start there and see what the doc says.

Honestly, skipping baseline and follow-up labs is just asking for trouble down the line. You definitely want to see where your total and free T, hematocrit, lipids, and estradiol are sitting before pinning anything, otherwise you're flying totally blind when side effects or high red blood cell counts start creeping up.

Thanks. As a 41-year-old male, about 20% body fat, what results can I expect?

1. When I was 28, I did do some Androgel, and later either one vial of Primobolan Depot or 10 mg of Oxandrolone a day.

Honestly, the TRT only produced results the first week. Then, things just seemed normal.

The Primobolan only made me moody.

Oxandrolone, even at that low dose, had great effects on recovery, glycogen storage ability, strength, etc. But, I also got roid rage.

2. What do studies say about energy, body composition, etc. changes?

3. To me, I have upper-crossed and lower-crossed syndrome. Because my posture has always been bad, and I am at my desk a lot, I get anterior pelvic tilt, lateral pelvic tilt, weak connectors in my back, and just everything, even when I go to the gym every day.

I hope the TRT would get into those small stabilizer muscles and help with the overall picture, as it did with Oxandrolone, etc. I loved the full squats and perfect form, because those stabilizer muscles got stronger.
