Uniliver / Mad Cow Disease

I`ve read a few questions in the past as to whether liver tabs can cause mad cow disease.
The response has usually led to flaming or a flat no.
I recall YJ`s stating that Uniliver cannot cause mad cow disease.
Anway, I just read this in the Supps section `on the other board`:

Hey guys, i know a lot of guys on here are really smart and know what they are talking about but i just have a little warning. My father is an ER physician and the other day he came home from work and said that someone came in with really bad flu symptoms and it was later determined he had mad cow disease. They asked him if he had eaten liver or taken liver supplements in the past few weeks and said that he was a BB and took Universal's UniLiver tabs regularly. The toxicity screens later determined that he contracted this disease from the tabs....so i stopped taking mine, any else heard anything like this b4?

If this is true, it explains a lot about YJ. ;)

Potential for Class Suit

If this is true I would imagine there would be more than 1 person who has caught mad cow disease from the liver tabs.
This would mean one big class suit against whichever company produced the tabs.
I hope it`s not true because so many of us use them.

The guy actually did get mad cow disease from the liver tabs???? That is not good news at all.

Well first off- Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) or Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease isnt characterized by flu like symptoms. Humans who develope this disease will slowly lose the ability to think and to move properly and will suffer from memory loss and progressive brain damage until they can no longer see, speak or feed themselves, you know, things of that nature. No where that I did research did they say it was characterized by a high temperature, cold sweats or anything related to 'flu like' symptoms.

The USDA provides a rather lengthy list of countries who's cattle could potentially have BSE or who have been proven to have BSE, Argentina was no where on the list. An incubation period of several months or years is needed to see BSE, this kid didnt eat 18 liver tabs, get sick the next morning, go to the hospital and come down with Mad Cow Disease. This is some kid playing a joke to piss everyone off or be a typical child. First off, the doctor isnt going to say "have you been eating cattle liver?" **** people. This guy's story has too many holes in it. Theres hundreds of thousands of people who use liver tabs, none of which have reports degeneration of the brain.

Ok, so say we give this kid the benefit of the doubt, he has this special cow from Argentina, the only one who had mad cow disease, had a doctor who graduated from community college and asked specifically if he's been eating any Universal Nutritions Uni-Liver or cow liver  and actually called the disease by its layman's terms and not medical terms.... ok, we'll give him that.....

Now Im no doctor but I would assume a toxicity screen takes place by screening the blood for toxic substances, well to catch BSE, one would have to be done on the brain and extra cellular fluid.

From the USDA website:

"No cases of BSE have been confirmed in the U.S.A. with 12 years of active surveillance."

Wow, this guy is the very first and he got them from Universal's Uni-Liver

Mad Cow disease is obtained from glandular secretions from cattle or other dead animal's carcasses. Now I ask you this.. Do you think the US doesnt observe and test forgein meats before it enters the country? Uni-liver is formulated and manufactured in NJ, USA. If you dont think they test meats, then why have no outbreaks of BSE occured in the US?

If he's talking about Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), then hes a very lucky individual, since it occurs in exactly 1 in every 1 million people.

Im researching for more info. now, but Im not sure if BSE or CJD can with-stand the flash freezing process uni-liver goes through.

This is somebody under a new name they created ( Like what 14 posts?) to rain on everyone's parade since Uni-Liver is catching on..... very lame. At least the story could have been more creative and he could have studies the disease a little closer.

Alot of the original GH users (harvested from cadavers) came down with CJD. I also hear that it is extremely common with the native people of Borneo, who practice a type of cannibalism where the brain of an enemy is eaten.

I have a question about liver tabs, not pertaining to BSE. I have read that liver tabs can cause weight gain and water retention, has anyone heard or experienced this?

good reasoning/post YJ... also to add... i was thinking more about the process to make liver tabs. What exactly do they do to the liver when making liver tabs? they just freeze them or what. i know supplements industries are under heavy watch and have to show reports and studies on many of their products .. so wouldnt they make sure the product was sterolized properly and/or the process in creating liver tabs (the form we take) kill the bacteria that causes the disease ?

i dont know if this is true or not, but something i wondered. im sure YJ can give us more info.

About water retention- Guys have reported retaining water while on liver tabs, b-boy comes to mind, Ive never experiences and Im not sure yet what the psysiological reasoning behind that is, other than maybe a bloated feeling...

Ralph- First the meat is separated, all the fat and connective tissue is removed. Then Im sure its cleaned and processes in some manner Im not really sure what its called, I know as soon as its cleaned, its flas frozen at -18 degrees C. Then Im sure (either before or after freezing, I would assume before) the meat is tested for toxicity and viruses, etc (mad cow disease  ) and then its cut into pieces, gelled and packaged. This is certainly a brief summary but you get the idea.
