Taking whey while not exercising

My sister is trying to lose around 15 pounds and she hardly ever exercises but she just started taking whey for a replacement meal. The whey she has is just plain whey protein with about 100 calories and no fat or sugar. Would replacing a meal with this help her lose weight even if she is not exercising?

umm...maybe. Anytime you're eating LESS calories than you're expending during a day you're gonna lose weight. So I mean i dont' know how active her job is or how active she is period, but point her to Invalid Link Removed

Let her browse around there, she can put in her weight, activity level what not, find out her BMR (basal metabolic rate) how many cals she burns without doing anything, and then how many cals roughly she burns a day giving her activity level, and then make sure she takes in less than that.

Hey man I appreciate it. The only reason Im so concerned is because I was the one telling her to start a high protein diet while cutting out some cals. I didnt realize she was gonna go all out and start drinking shakes and sh@t. I just wanted some input from the experts. Thanks
