Keeping my eye open for a mig welder and they have so many options out there now. Have an old school Lincoln non gas mig welder and an old Lincoln tombstone stick.

Want to pick up Mig and possibly tig setup. Something that could handle 1/4. Have 220 power so that’s not an issue.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

On the flip side, what would you recommend for a rookie welder just looking to use it fix and build around my property. Few years back I had to learn how to use an acetylene torch and learn some welding, the job ended before I really made it into the welding aspect so I'm not very confident. Looking for something cheap and easy I can f*** around with

That’s the one I have had for close to 20 years I bet. Just 110 plug for power. Uses a flux wire welds sheet metal and up to maybe 3/16 but that kinda iffy if you need it to do some serious holding power. Honestly it works great.

I want to build a lot of equipment when I get moved this year and have some other projects that I just need a bigger one with gas setup.

This is the one I had but it was 220 and had a mig conversion. I absolutely loved it but I never bothered going gas, I just ran the flux core and I had any oxy/acet setup in the garage too but honestly I only used it once cause it gave me the creeps. I absolutely loved using the 220v flux core though, I could weld some THICK metal with that. we built so many lowriders and choppers with that thing. You add a $10 harbor freight cut off wheel and you can basically cut anything up and weld it back together lol

Dang sorry I missed this! I dabbled in welding and I know someone who actually travels internationally to teach welding. He’s old school so he says he loves miller and Lincoln, but there’s another brand called ESAB that I believe is Swedish. He let me borrow it for a few months and the thing is pretty legit. They also have small compacts that do both MIG and TIG. He also said that ESABs customer service is hands down better. Said if one breaks they don’t ask questions or anything and will replace it. If you haven’t looked into ESAB, I’d highly recommend it.
