My workouts suck without my MP3 player!!!

I got a Memorex MP3 player for XMas. It crapped out on me a few weeks ago. It would turn on, flash the logo, then shut off.

Anyway, Circuit City wouldn't help, so I had to send it back to Memorx.

I've noticed a huge difference in my energy level and lifts w/o it. I hate the music they play at my gym. They had some slow '80's crap on yesterday. :frustrate
I just want my Chronic/Ready to Die back!

Has anyone else noticed a difference in their workouts w/o the music they normally listen to?

I definitely like having my digital music player (I have a Memorex too) because it helps me zone-out and focus on my business-at-hand... but I've done without it too. Think of it as a good opportunity to work on your concentration/focus. Then, when you get it back, it will feel like a real boost. ;)

Definately a boost. I do think I'm not able to concentrate as much w/o it. I tend to listen to the idiots in my gym talking about "creatinine" or "NITric oxide boosters". (Poor pronounciation.)

I don't know how I ever worked out without a MP3 player. Occasionally I will forget it and man it sucks, won't do low intensity cardio with out it.

I freakin' love my MP3 player. I have a few cards so I can change it up when I want, or what I'm in the mood for.

Hey jmh80, here's a little trick to try next time. If they won't help you with your product, purachse another one (same brand and model) then take the crapped one back in place of the new one for your refund.

No iPOD = No workout. I don't even bother.

The place I workout at sucks..it's all old tourist farting around and watching the golf channel at 120 decibels and talking about politics the way seniors do which is to say with no clue, and full of racist paranoia.

When you hear phrases like "The Chinese have invested trillions into technologies that control the weather so it's no suprise that all those hurricaines hit Florida before and during the election."

It's a little hard to maintain focus when you want to scream "What the ****!?"

Right there with you guys - my music the driving force behind my intensity in the gym. If my batteries die, Ill finish my workout but Im definitely not happy working out to Top40 favorites.:D

cuffs - I'm a cheap ass, I've done that before

I once did that to GNC becuase I got pissed off at a manager that wouldn't take back a bottle of that Myo-zap crap that I truly bought from them, just had finished the whole thing. I ended up sending it to their HQ. Well, the next time I bought something online, I think Muscle Milk, I waited till there was 1 serving left in each of the 2 tubs, then took both back to the asshole, he had to give me a gift card.

I've forgotten my MP3 on a few occasions and it sucks. I can't stand the crap that they play in the gym, my music helps to keep me motivated.. Abba does not..

Today I realized another reason why I need this thing. We have this retard at our gym, not literally I think, who just screams when doing reps. I mean screams, it's crazy. He's really not even lifting that much weight. And his form is awful. And he can't pronounce creatine.

Alright, I'm ranting here.

This idiot seriously throws my concentration off. I need some noise canceling headphones when I get this thing back.
Anyone tried them? I see quite a few types on Ebay.

i can lift without music for two reasons ... i lift with a partner so i talk with him the whole time and it would be odd if i just had my ipod on .. and two i focus so much on the lift i tend to tune out all the noise around me

i could NOT ever dream of doing 45 minutes of cardio without my ipod though

Same here. I don't like lifting with anything on my ears or strapped to me, I just focus on the lifting and the music really doesn't matter to me at all. Given my way I'd like to choose my own, of course, but no biggie to me.

Cardio is a pain without something decent though....unless there are enough hot women, then they can play Barry Manilow for an hour and I'm still fine

When I do heavy Clean+Presses and Deads, Ill put the MP3 player down because the form requires so much focus.

When i did lift with a partner it wasnt so important to have the tunes, but now that Ive been lifting alone deathmetal is my partner:)

:icon_lol:

imagine deadlifting and then all of a sudden while you're struggling for your last rep you hear: "YOU ARE THE DANCING QUEEN!"

A couple of times I've forgotten my mp3 player and more times than that the battery has run out mid-workout. All the workouts when either has happened has been horrible. I'm a guy that likes to have noise around me constantly otherwise my mind wanders. I always have a fan going in the background in my room for example. Now I keep replacement batteries in my car and never leave home without it. I just can't focus when I can hear everybody else talking and stuff.

I finally got the thing back. Memorex sent a new one, which is nice.

Got it just in time to begin Bobo's "kick my ass" workouts. I needed the lil Jon, Dre, Eminem, Ludacris, etc.

I couldn't hear "screamer" either. He's such a dumbfuck. I think we need to start a thread in here about the weirdos at each of our gyms. I managed to meet "Pig Pen" the other day. All I can say is wow!
