My Adrenal Receptors are Shot!

I have been training for religiously for 16 years. I have cycled ephedrine products, non-ephedrine products, and NO products for about 12 years (for pre work out energy and drive). About 2 years ago, these supps stopped working for me. I realize my receptors are dulled and used to the supps. So about a year ago, I stopped all supps and took Reset A.D. by Palo Alto Labs

Anyway, after starting back on NO products or fat burners, my receptors are still shot. I train at 5am and its like I can take a serving of NO Explode or Jet Fuel and go right back to bed.

Anyone ever experience this? What can I do to help overcome this?

Interesting. I'd get your cortisol levels checked morning, noon and night. Really once you've complete tolerence you should heavy withdrawl symptoms.

There's certainly stuff you can take to get around the problem - but this is a over-the-counter forum.

A full recovery program might be needed. I'll bet you don't stabilize blood-sugar or use adaptogens - could be wrong, just a guess.

Woooo... no. No, no, no.... You can get any exogenase hormone quite easily. Be very careful with this one. Yeah it'll work but you'll just get a feedback generating dependency. Its definately out of fashion now in any case.

Oh... I'm not discouraging going to your physician.

The guy looks to have a form of adrenal fatigue. The supplements here are okay - but not major strong. If you're going to do this heavy duty adrenal fatigue program is the stuff that he needs.

What I was trying to hide was you can use a specific reuptake inhibitor - make sure it doesn't cut into dopamine or serotonin pathways though - that can cause mayhem. Actually there is only one thats really safe. Anyway you can't get it over the counter and no physican will prescribe for this case --- but it would sure work.

Generally though - why not go down a test route??? If you are triggering norepinaphrine it ain't anabolic its very catabolic.

Note to mods:
I'll scrub the reuptake stuff in a few days to the board clean but its worth pointing out.

I'm all ears on the re-uptake inhibitor solution.

Well seen as the board is so hush hush about SERMs - yet they are vital - I think I'll pass on that. It got approval late, I think 2007 in the US, for ADAD - argghh.. I never remember these acronyms, anyway they got it through for attention disorder. There's generics already but in the US its under patent. Its as close as I can go without say $%DAFA :D :squareeyed:

Its not a good idea for body building because sure you'll pump like there's no tomorrow - but it'll last much longer than the workout and will disrupt the anabolic side of things.

why is everybody focusing on adrenals?
NOx works directly on smooth muscle fibers, and caffeine works directly on the CNS.
nothing to do w/ adrenals.
ephidrine does have sympathomimetic properties, similar to catechols made by the adrenal medulla.
with who knows in all these supps, and with uncertainly if they affect receptors associated w/ adrenal hormones, i wouldnt point at adrenals. you need a full endocrine workup at your doctor.

The only time I can see a reuptake inhibitor being useful is using DHEA. I'm doing a DHEA cycle right now. This once the darling of anti-aging can be a dangerous long term supplement because it is known to knock out the cortisol response. I'm not sure whether it is suppression or through over-activation .... I just don't know and I need to find out.

Reuptake inhibitors at the end of a DHEA cycle could well be useful to get the cortisol response back on its feet. Any other approach though I think is bad news.

Its worth pointing out though there are literally heaps on heaps of norepinephrine anatgonists out there - heaps of them and for the most part they all work. To become tolerant to the entire stack is some acheivement.

We need a dedicated thread on fat-burners ... because norepinephrine antogonists are one of the key components. I 'm pretty sure its impossible for someone to get tolerance against all of those.

Really any more posts like this and I'm out here.

Oh really ... smooth muscle yes? So whats it going to do - make you have gas? Oh perhaps make you talk alot? Go to wiki and type in "smooth muscle" or try a text book on a subject called "physiology". Any will do.

With those in NO supps - its BANNED from supps. I like this board but some days its not worth turning up. Its been banned for 4 years??

Thats easy... Caffeine invokes a cortisol repsonse - thats why it works. Its why it makes you jumpy or awake. The adrenal/gonad-pituatary axis is complex flight / fight response. I can't be bothered to look up its mechanism of action AT ALL.

I can't be bothered to answer this post any further. It suddenly made me realize how much time I'm wasting.

what is the longest you have NOT used caffeine. Why not try NOT using caffeine for 2 weeks or any stimulant before all taking more bullcrap.

Thanks for the feedback! I have cycled off all stimulants for about a month. Then when I went back to the supps, I felt a little boost, but not much! Its just seems I don't get that same effect from the stimulants anymore. Maybe I need more time off?

Mathias7, man you you know your ****! I need a translator to interpret some of it, way over my head. Very impressed with everyones help here!

Yes to the needing a little more time. I would give it another month, and keep taking Reset.

I am doing the same, and although my situation is much less dire than yours if you are having trouble eliciting a desired response from your body but are getting a minimal response at least there is movement in the right direction and it means that your adrenals are not completely gone.

It would seem advisable as well to talk to a doctor about getting some bloodwork done to get a baseline so you can move forward without making all decisions on "seat-of-the-pants."

Good luck bro!

here is what i think you need.

there are some antihistamine that upregulate your adrenergic receptors. some people use benadryl to do the same thing but it hasnt been shown but it is worth a try.

i would take a good 2 weeks away from all exercise, heck EVEN 3! sleep in as much as you can. eat, go to sleep. you need to give your body time to readjust. simple as that.

what?
you dont know what smooth muscle fibers are? there goes any credibility you had. why dont you look up nitrous oxides and their effect in the body and then come back.
did you read the OP? He said he's taken ephedrine and similar products...who cares if ephedrine is banned that was his original question.

and the effect of caffeine has nothing to do with cortisol. its direct CNS stimulation like i said previously. Although caffeine can increase cortisol secretion, the effect is blunted with continued use. Caffeine has more effect on the adrenal medulla.

i really dont know what book or college is teaching you this garbage, but you best get your money back

alas, he had his desired effect by stringing some fancy words together...he got you to believe he knew what he was talking about.

Look I mark exams at grad level. Its part of what I have to do. I'm really kind in marking and what I like to do is go through every script and rank them. I'd then take the top and the bottom scripts and compare the rest against these. Its not perfect but its not bad. You'd definately help shape who got what and where; that class would love to have you in there - you'd really help them ;)

I study parasitism of smooth muscle professionally - its why I don't understand bodybuilding very well but understand other stuff very well - so don't tell me to define what smooth muscle is.

Anyway how do I get hyper links working in the sig.?

Hmm... I might have over done it here.

As far as adrenal fatigue supplements, I have tried Reset Ad and saw decent results. I recently tried a new supplement called Ampheta-Restore. I believe that it was designed to help kids dealing with Adderall tolerance and things of that nature. However, I ordered a bottle of it and saw much better results. It has a ton of ingredients and I was able to feel the effects of my ECA stack within days. I ordered the stuff from AmphetaRestore.com

Yeah agreed ResetAD could be okay but it doesn't look heavy duty.

The stuff Nutra sell under the Adrenal Fatigue Institute looks pretty good.

Thing is as soon as there's no stims cortisol level will just disappear and they'll be a strong feeling of fatigue. The idea is to restore cortisol using adaptogens.

taper opff what your using use tyrosine 2 grams 2-3 x's daily for four days and take a break the tyrosine will help your adrenals and help with withdrawal process

damn if I only I could work for a supplement company with all this free advice I give out..

some one give me reps and write nice inspiring things next to them

actually, you cant be studying smooth muscle very well to think that NOx products give you gas....

have you ever heard of a blood vessel before? oh, and i can add a  smilie, too.

*sigh* look up "megasyndromes" - thats as far as I'm going. NO->gas was a joke BTW it was pointing out that you are confusing striated muscle with smooth muscle.

If you think you're still right fine... goodluck to you.

Has anyone tried anything besides Reset? What kind of results have you guys seen? This whole adrenal fatigue syndrome interests me because of my excessive stim usage. I'm expected to make certain weight and body fat % requirements, and am usually given little to no notice, and have taken pretty much everything under the sun. I believe taking a combination of adderall and preworkout products have fried my receptors. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, what has personally gave me some headway in this matter has been a combination of plain benadryl and the product I talked about before; ampheta restore. If you search around the forums you'll see threads dealing with how benadryl helps reset certain receptors that are vital for stimulant response.

I also tried Ampheta-Restore because of my constant stim use. I saw great results as well. Has anyone else tried this stuff?
