Is Fat intake Required for Ketosis?

I know to be in ketosis, you have to eat under 20g of carbs a day. But is it true that if I have a high protein, low fat and very low carb diet, I will not be in ketosis? Or is a high fat diet required for ketosis

Thats not really true. You don't need to eat under 20 grams of carbs a day. I'm sure if you were eating under 20 grams carbs a day for say 2 weeks straight and then one day you go up to around 50, your not gonna bump yourself out of ketosis. Also if you don't keep fat high enough you will burn muscle through glucogenisis(sp.?). There is a lot of information on this out in the world, if you just look. There are a lot of good books out there also.

It's also unhealthy to not take in fat for extended periods, remember that while carbs are not necessary for life, protien and fat are.
