Damn I just ran the directions through mapquest - its like 10 minutes from my house!!! Looks like I just found me a new gym:D
 
Yeah I go to a Gold's here right now and its not that bad, but the emphasis is obviously on their machines. It has everything you need, though.
 
Now you should look up this book. "The Warrior Diet" This guys workouts in the back would work well in that Gym. I got mine from Barnes and Noble. Real grunt, grunt, Warrior workouts. :whip:
 
I dont know if eating once a day is such a good idea, but it would be cool to read about the Roman Centurian workouts:)
 
Yea, I did try the meal plan for a little while. It really didn't compliment my Ecto. frame. I need lots of food. The workouts the guy does are pretty badass. Pavel Tsatsouline and the kettlebell workouts are another crazy way to work out. Do google search on that guy and the kettlebells, insanity.
 
That gym in Albany sounds awesome but to all of you bashing gyms for having machines, you have to consider that they're trying to make a profit, it is a business after all. Most new lifters are intimidated by free weights so machines are an obvious draw for beginning lifters. An entirely free weight gym sounds awesome to us but in most areas there aren't enough serious lifters to support a place like that. Just thought I'd throw that out there for people to consider.

By the way, does that gym have cables? I think I'd miss those alot.
 
Im not sure DuiLee I havent been over there yet. I actually do prefer some machines...I like doing my cardio training on an elliptical, plus I wouldnt want to do without a legpress or hacksquat sled.

Its just frustrating that most gyms give more attention to the machines than their freeweight sections. I know they gotta make money, but still...

I'd also miss the leg curl and donkey raise machines. I don't think I'd be willing to do donkey raises the free-weight way.
I can only imagine the rumors that would spread around town if somebody I knew walked into the gym to see somebody riding me.
 
You can do donkey raises really well with a smithmachine and a pad for your back. If a gym is completely anti-machine though, they might not have a smith either...
